Anytime I want Chinese food I come here– their food is fresh and not greasy. I love the ma po tofu and chicken or beef with broccoli.

Your basic greasy spoon Chinese place. Definitely not authentic at all, everything seems like it’s covered in oil. Some dishes better than others, but all the food has basically the same flavoring. Take out or delivery. Delivery seems expensive however, you’re best picking up.

My friend swears by this place and it is not disappointing. Everything was fresh especially the vegetables and spicy chicken. I will be visiting this place again.

The number one place to get some of the best oriental food in Grosse Pointe area, the service is great, nice area, I’ve tried several things on the menu, I guarantee if you try it once you will definitely go again & again.

I always find myself coming back here since the original owners took over again! I love lo mein and this place makes the best hands down. It has no overly salty gravy that you might find at other places. The vegetables are always fresh and crisp when you dig in and that really makes the dish great and doesn’t make you regret it afterward! The egg drop & hot ‘n’ sour soups are perfect for this terrible winter we’re having too! I also recommend the Pad Thai as they are one of the few around here that make it, and they do it great! Overall, you can’t go wrong with most everything they have to offer. Definitely 5 stars from me, and you get tons of food for the price!

Growing up, I never really got the type of Chinese taste in my mouth that I so dearly hoped for. When I moved out to Michigan to attend college, a friend of mine mentioned that I needed to drive with him to this amazing hole-in-the-wall take out Chinese restaurant that he had been eating at for years. Upon my first bite of the savory Chicken Pad Thai, I finally tasted what I had been missing for so long. This place, Summer Palace, may not actually look like a palace from the outside, but they truly are a palace on the inside. I have never eaten so many different dishes that I love so much. Wow. I’ve now been here 7 times since I moved out here this year and will be coming here for many years to come.

Vegetables are always fresh. Food always has delicious and savory flavor. The food is always juicy too. I get the Generals Taos Chicken or the Mongolian Chicken everytime. The hot and sour soup is to die for! I’ve never had hot and sour soup unlike this place.

My first review ever. It was so unappetizing that I felt compelled, particularly since on Google Reviews it got 4 stars somehow. The folks at the counter are nice — but the food was barely edible. Each of the three dishes — stir fried vegetables, breaded shrimp and vegetables, and egg foo yung were drenched in a heavy brown sauce of some sort. The shrimp(if there was a shrimp in there) was mostly a battered donut with something like a small lump of texture inside, possibly a shrimp. It was impressive that they managed to make vegetables so incredibly unhealthy, but in order to save them I literally put them in a colander and rinsed off the goop. But the piece de resistance was the egg foo yung, which appeared to be a calf brain covered in ochre-colored liquid that tasted as you might imagine. I am baffled at how this restaurant exists, other than the sheer paucity of decent Chinese restaurants in this city. My girlfriend, a New Yorker by origin, now has cast judgment on the entire city based on its planetary-scale divergence in quality from Brooklyn. Dammit. The egg drop soup was fine …

Nice little greasy Chinese place, I’ve had the good and bad from here but I’ll go back again. :)

Never a disappointment here, all I could say is, I have been living in San Francisco, Chicago and overseas, this is one of the best Chinese that I have been to.

This place is atrocious. The food is disgusting, and some combination of over or undercooked, greasy, poorly seasoned, loaded with msg, and overpriced. The staff is always friendly, but that’s the best I can say about this place. It manages to survive because a good number of the locals simply don’t know what good, well made Chinese food is supposed to taste like. Those who do don’t eat here.

Mediocre to poor quality food, mostly bland and flavorless. Unusually greasy, soggy rice and egg rolls taste of burnt vegetable oil. Chicken tasted off(as in possibly spoiled) and underseasoned– big time. Convenient location and speedy preparedness are the two main selling points here. I will not be back, ever.

I had no idea this place existed! One night I was starving and without a car and I found out that this place actually delivers! So far, so good. I ordered the Sesame Chicken, and it was very good but could have used a little bit more sauce on the chicken. The rice and egg roll that came with it were on par with my other favorite Chinese in the area, Moy’s.

I live in the neighborhood. Got food at Summer Palace years ago(like 10 years ago) and found it sub-par in comparison to other local Chinese restaurants. It was actually kinda gross. Decided to try it last night(based on «new management») and was pleasantly surprised to find it was excellent. We carried out. Service was super friendly. Crispy food was perfectly crispy– not greasy, veggies were fresh. Loved the hot & sour soup and the crab rangoon. I will go back again soon.

I was really craving some Chinese food at 830 pm Sunday night so I found this place by a google search. They do not have a website, nor do they have any reviews but I was hungry and felt like taking a gamble. I ordered their version of orange chicken which was dry and bland. The order came with a really gross egg roll and some dry fried rice. I ordered a side of hot and sour soup that was decent which explains the 2stars. Very disappointed with this place. I will however give it a second chance and order something completely different. If I get a similar result, I will keep the review.
