Catfish John’s

Just had the catfish dinner and the catch of the day special. All very good, service was good and friendly waitstaff. The Birthday cake cake balls were yummy!

Love love love some good country cooking and catfish is a fave of mine! Also love supporting small local businesses like this.
The catfish was great, super hot, flaky & just the right amount of cornmeal & not super greasy. I had the lunch special, with a drink it was $ 10 and had 4 big pieces of catfish, hush puppies, coleslaw & tomato relish with choice of baked potato, fries, wedges or beans.
The tomato relish is amazing! It appears to be the green tomato variety and is just the right amount of hot & sweet & yum! I dipped my hush puppies in it! Potato wedges were good too, thick slices of potato perfect without a ton of batter. Overall the food was great & I would definitely recommend and will eat it again!

Great catfish and wonderfully fried to perfection jalapeño hush puppies. The service is not that impressive and I don’t go there for the atmosphere but the food makes up for it. Very popular with the locals.

Perfectly fine fried food but nothing special. Cocktail sauce and tarter sauce are packaged. A good restaurant should make their own.

This is without a doubt the best catfish on the planet, and the sides are great too. It’s very affordable, but service can be slow because of high demand.

Great Catfish, sweet tea, beans, okra, fries. To top it off great service and really good prices. What more do you need? The platter of catfish I got was so big I could barely finish it!

Food was excellent! Price was affordable! This is the only restaurant in Grove to serve 100% American raised catfish. The others in town serve an asian type of catfish that really isn’t catfish at all. So beware the all you can eat catfish signs in town, because it might be all you can eat Rat-​Fish lol.

After leaving Grove for 8 years I took me and my fiancé (Now Husband) to Catfish John’s so that he can try some Great Catfish. Sadly he never experienced great catfish before and since we were doing a road trip through my home town we decided to get some to go.
Now it’s amazing what you notice when you are sitting waiting for your food. I was there on August 17^th as well. Same time as John S. One of the girls quickly took my order and I sat near a front table. They were super busy when I came in and it’s understandable about the wait since there were 10 orders ahead of me. The team of 5, three waitress, two cooks were swamped. I saw John get up from the table once to ask for a refill sure, but he never gave them a chance to get the refill to him.
Just because you’re impatient doesn’t mean it’s the service’s fault.

The fish was delicious!
The colesaw tasted fantastic and I wish I had the recipe
The fries had no problems.
The Catfish — From a guy who has tried catfish for the last few years and never liked it «It wasn’t greasy, had great flavor, and made me craving more»
I know the next time I road trip through again I’ll definetly stop by again for more.
Note — John instead of Unilocaling about the one reflect on all the others. If you have an issue talk to the owners themselves. Unilocal is not about trashing a local place that you’ve going to for years to gripe about one day of bad service.

Good food and friendly service. We’ve always left well satisfied.
