Great menudo, chili verde, beans and rice. The stuffed chilies were soooo good. This is run by the grand children of the original owners! They’ve done a great job of keeping the food true to the grandmothers recipes. We drove 25 minutes to go back and it was worth it.

Looks drab both outside and in — but food is good. Fresh made tortillas and salsa.

Really Good value/price Authentic mexican. Carnitas awesome!!! They have daily plate for $ 7.50. We ordered one enchilada daily that includes 2 big enchilada and beans and rice. They have menudo and pozole too. The chorizo taco was pretty tasty!!! Everything in this place is really good and no plane!

Nardo’s is a little hole in the wall restaurant located in the small quaint town of Guadalupe. The staff was warm and inviting. I tried the guacamole and chips as well as the grande burrito with carne asada. The Guacamole was fantastic and probably the best that I have ever had. The chips really complemented it because they seem to have been made and fried in house. The grande burrito was really tasty. The tortilla was homemade and filled with yummy mixture of carne asada, rice, and beans. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. But be sure to bring cash because that is the only method of payment they will receive.

This place was recommended for breakfast when we were in town for an early morning basketball game. We got there and there were only about 3 other tables of guests. Prices seemed reasonable and we ordered. We then discovered they only take cash, no credit cards. Thankfully they did say they’d take a check so that was good. Food took FOREVER to arrive for our party of 5. There was only one lady cooking, so that’s probably why. We waited about 30 minutes and when it finally arrived it looked good, but portions were very small. I ordered the huevos ranchos which came with beans. It was good, but I was still hungry after I was finished. My brother ordered menudo which he said was good, and came in a big bowl. My son ordered chicken nuggets and fries which were homemade and a bit on the crunchy side. The beans were very good. This place was good, but not great. I probably wouldn’t come back.

Long standing establishment on the main drag. Great food, great people with old family recipes. Love stopping in anytime for a bite.

Good food+poor service= two stars. Food is always good(if you want great food, go to el Tapatio) but the servers are always rude, even for pick ups; this is coming from someone who manages a restaurant for a living and is always nice to everyone. I must say, even though they are good, I would rather make my own chile rellenos at home.

My dad and I come here once a week to catch up with each other. I can eat menudo any day of the week, and lucky for me they serve menudo every day. Menudo isn’t your thing? That’s okay, there is so much to choose from and all so reasonably priced. If you want a real treat, try their fish soup on Fridays. They use fresh caught fish from local fisherman and avocado. It’s so good!

.My family eats here a minimum of once a week. My husband would just as well move in to town so he could eat here daily. The food here is fresh! Homemade like mom’s. Need I say more? What should you try? Anything and everything! You can’t miss! The Owner and family take pride in the food they prepare for you. Dona Lupe cooks your food especially for you. I joke with her and tell she has us «chiquiados»(spoiled) we place orders as ifwe were five year olds and at grandma’s kitchen table The kitchen is in plain sight, Nardo’s has nothing to hide! In fact ithe place is shinny and clean. «you can eat off the floor!» Great food! Great prices! Make a trip to Guadalupe and eat at Nardo’s!

I’ve been coming to Nardos since I was a little boy. My grandma and grandpa used to take me all the time. I always have to order her rice. It is soooo good. Such a simple side but very tasty and always made the same. I’ve had everything on the menu. I reallllly love and recommend her Porkchops in sauce… It’s soooo good. When I go in, she calls me by the name she gave me, «Travieso» which means«Troublemaker» in Spanish. hahaha. Probably because I used to run up and down that place. haha… Keep up the good work guys!

My Aunt and Uncle took my wife and I to this restaurant for breakfast. They talked it up quite a bit and how they have been dining here for eight years. Needless to say I didn’t have any real expectations as the Bay Area has some pretty fantastic hole-in-the-wall taqueria’s. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This place is fantastic! The best Chili Relleno. Huevos Ranchero’s, pancakes, bacon, hash browns… I ate it all. Like the other reviews say, made fresh, cooked to order. I will definitely be going back. Wish she was up here in the Bay Area. I’d go every week! Can’t wait to try the Mole.

I came to Guadalupe last year to eat steak at the Tavern Inn… but it was in the morning and way too early… so I stumbled into this small mom and pop restaurant for breakfast. It was your typical small town café, with some locals hanging out and chit chatting with the owner… she was a cute«grandma» type that did all the cooking… I felt like I was in their home and they welcomed me to eat there. She smiled and asked what I wanted… I told her I would like to eat something she would cook for breakfast… she had trouble with English and asked her son to see what I wanted… he told her what I wanted and she told her son in spanish what she would cook… he laughed and asked me if I would like cactus and eggs? I could tell he was looking at my face and started laughing again… definitely not what I expected… chorizo and eggs… machaca and eggs… huevos rancheros… chilaquiles and eggs… prickly pear cactus and eggs… hmmmmmm… no matter, I was game… I told him to have her make it… he smiled and told her to make it… he asked if I wanted it hot… I said ‘Yes’… I could see her cutting up the pickled cactus and mixing it with eggs and jalapeño peppers… it came with home made beans and tortillas. She smiled as she handed me her concoction of homemade goodness, waiting to see my reaction. So there I was in a strange town with all the towns people looking at me to see how I would react to their type of «home» cooking. It was goooood… at the time I was in need of a road trip and needed something to take away the stress of work and family pressures… this was just what the doctor ordered… home made love on a plate… as I ate the meal I began to cry. She made this as if I needed it… she knew she needed to give me some love on a plate… this was her special dish for me. It was simple, but it touched my heart. Later that night I ate at the Tavern Inn and had their signature steak… it paled compared to Grandma’s cactus and eggs… so I went back this year… on my annual road trip… Oh No… the place was boarded up and for lease… I couldn’t believe it… I really looked forward to getting the cactus and eggs again… then I looked across the street… it seemed like a new place had opened up and people were gathering there now… I wondered if Grandma finally retired and decided to go on her own road trip. Heaven forbid she past away. Then I saw the sign in the new place, «Nardo’s»… wait… did they move across the street? But why? So I went across the street and walked into a bigger, newer place… and I saw Grandma sitting at the counter reading the newspaper! And there was her son greeting me once again to their new home… wow… some of the old trinkets came along and sat behind the counter, but it had a new kitchen and stainless steel everything… I inquired to why they moved… the son said the city required they had to upgrade their place in order to meet city codes… this place was going out of business so it seemed logical to buy. Happily I ordered what I had a year ago… but this time there was her daughter in law to cook instead of her… Grandma was proudly showing off her new place and had help to run the place now. As I got my plate of love, everything tasted the same… the towns people were the same and still chit chatting away… I was happy and enjoyed my meal, thanking God that Nardo’s was here to stay for a long long time… and in good hands.

Nardo’s is a great hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant open for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is available later in the week. Lupe cooks everything from scratch so don’t be in a rush. The chili rellenos are huge and delicious. Huevos rancheros come with beans and have a wonderful sauce on top(I found out Lupe uses fresh ginger in the sauce). Not too spicy, and thick with tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. The Mexican style steak is pieces of beef swimming in a red sauce. Excellent food… Inexpensive… Very friendly atmosphere. It’s kind of hidden by a big tree in front, but you’ll find it a couple of doors from the theater in Guadalupe. Try it… you will be very happy you did. Actually, they recently moved across the street to a newly remodeled building. Same great food, in a more modern environment. I’ve never had a better chile relleno.
