Great place to come for dinner! My mother in law told me about this place about 2 years ago and have been going ever since. The chicken parm dinner is great and has big portions. Had food catered from here one time for my graduation party and everyone loved it. Keep up the good work. Nice big salad bar too.

The Buffalo Chicken stuffed bread is incredible! Now that I no longer live in Guilford, I knew I had to order the Buffalo Chicken stuffed bread from Pasta Avert while visiting for the holidays. So glad I did!

I’m not sure what the people who have written negative things are talking about. I have been here many, many times for lunch and dinner. I have taken food out or have eaten at their tables. The salad bar is excellent. I have had pizza, pasta dinners, panini and subs. I have always had an excellent meal with friendly service. The food is well made and full of wonderful flavors. It is a casual place with limited seating, not a gourmet restaurant with table cloths. I am a big fan. Highly recommended.

So I work in the area only a few times a year and i always come here for my salads. They have a salad bar with fixings I like and my big salad with all the chicken, veggies and cheese I want is always between 8 – 9 bucks. I’m used to new haven prices so this is cheap! They have premade ones that looked good as well for only 8.99. I cant attest to the other items though but my coworkers come with me everytime and their pizza and sandwiches always look good…

I’ve only been there once so far. I mainly went for the salad bar. We happened to be heading home I was craving a salad and we were passing by. It sounds so delicious and garlic Italian in there. It was definitely busy. They only have a few tables and they were all occupied but we were getting salad to leave. the salad bar was tactful clean none of the vegetables, cheeses, meet there anything looked wilted or like it has been sitting out there. They have two different size round metal tins so as you move along you put what you like in it and you can also take at the end of piece of their homemade bread they have a couple of varieties out. they then weigh the salad to determine the price. The salad dressing on the side in individual packets they carry Ken’s salad dressing. I had taken two packages one comes with it if you want the other or more they charge you I believe $ 0.75. also next to the salad bar they carry 2 daily that you can fill different size containers. When you walk in that’s a long the left wall and then it turns into like the counter where the pizza is so they have a bunch of different pies made where you can get some slices or you can order pies to stay or go. They also have some garlic knots and a few other little items ready. And you can order heroes parmesan, paninis and they even have a few desserts. In the store they also sell in the freezer/fridge some pre made meals you just bring home and pop in the oven. They also have some homemade fresh pasta is in the case and other Italian specialties at a gourmet that you could bring home and either reheat or cook. They sell some so as soon as they make a pact. Didn t do so other Italian food products that get shipped in from other places that are harder to find you can’t find them in your regular grocery store. Parking though is very hard there’s only a few spots in the front and so our ride pulled in and just stayed in the car parked along the side of the building and we ran in and quickly made our salads and ran out. for the two salads and we got the large round container it was around $ 15.00. My mother is a vegetarian so she didn’t have obviously any chicken they do not have shrimp. But I had grilled chicken I remember they also had some other type of chicken not sure if it was chicken salad or chicken marinated or grilled in something, they might have had the tuna fish I’m not sure about that one. And I can’t remember they might have had some of the Italian meats like salami, prosciutto. So I can’t give a review on the pizza or any of those products. But the salad was delicious so you could get exactly what you want put how much you want in it and you could basically figure out what it going to weigh in no way. If you’re bringing it home and you have maybe shredded cheeses you don’t have to put that on there you could put something else on that way if Alan to get out so you don’t have to pay more. they put the bread on top of the salad and seal it after they weigh it. they’ll even let you take to if you want it’s almost like a garlic knots tasting slice of bread that soft and then they have another one that’s like a pesto olive oil? Now that spring and summer is coming I definitely crave salads even more so I’m sure I will be going there more often.

My bf and I used to go here fairly often and enjoyed it a lot. Huge portions, good food. But we went over the weekend and had a truly disappointing experience. The garlic flavor in my tomato cream sauce was so strong, I couldn’t eat it.(Mind you, I love garlic!) I brought it back and they were very nice about making me something else. Because they had to start over it took a while to cook and I ate the bread that came with the meal(which is VERY good). By the time my new meal was ready, I wasn’t hungry and just took it to go. Now I’m eating those leftovers and it’s just as bad as before! Tons of grated cheese and garlic in this sauce that’s just supposed to be a tomato and mushroom sauce. It actually burns my tongue and my throat. I will never eat there again unless I’m getting a slice of pizza or the salad bar. Absolutely disgusting.(It doesn’t have fewer stars because the bread is excellent and the staff is nice. And they used to be good, so maybe they can fire some bad chefs and recover.)

If I was starving and the food was free, I’d still avoid this place over the customer service. Beyond bad and all the way over into offensive.

Like any hole in the wall Italian place in Connecticut you expect girthy, delicious, GRINDERS. Not the case with pasta Avest. Ordered a chicken parmesan. I got a loaf of bread barely toasted with two miniature chicken cutlets and a slice of cheese with a spoon of sauce on it. and my steak and cheese. where’s the cheese? And the steak was extremely over cooked.. my advice the cook needs to go B&M deli on Ferry st. In New haven, CT and check out their grinders. They have the largest portioned grinders around for the same price. And they’re OUTSTANDING. TAKENOTESPASTAAVEST. BECAUSE I WON’T BEBACK.

Everything I have ever gotten here I have enjoyed. The panninis during lunch time are always great, I highly recommend the chicken and pesto one! For dinner they offer a variety of sauces and pastas to chose from. My husband loves their tortellini with alfredo, the sauce is so flavorful! I like their pomodoro sauce, it has just a hint of heat, which I love.

The food here is very good. Salad bar is generally fresh and pizza crust is tasty when hot. I have often gotten stuck eating in my car because they have very limited seating — ½ of the dining room is dedicated to retail. The counter help can be a downer at times as well. But if you can deal with those two things, the food is good.

Loved this family style Italian restaurant. Menu is great and they offer an excellent selection of pre-made, ready to go meals. We had eggplant parm, large hand tossed pizza, lasagna and pasta. Very hearty portions. One plate easily feeds two. Casual, no frills, clean and fun.

I recently moved to Guilford and was searching for a new pizza place. I drove by pasta Avest and decided to check it out. I have to say I’m glad I did. There pizzas are great, salads and stuffed breads are also great. I just wish the delivered,

We are on the hunt for a good salad in the area having been accustomed to excellent salads in L.A. I know it’s a hard act to follow but really, how hard is it to make a great salad? After trying two local places and not being satisfied we read about this spot in the local best of the shoreline contest in the paper. This spot was noted as having very good salads so we gave it a whirl. Not bad and actually worth going back but not fabulous either. There is a small but adequate salad bar at Pasta Avest. Complete with plastic bowls(which is rather unfortunate) to load your salads into. There is enough variety and the ingredients were fresh enough. But there just wasn’t any real finesse. Nothing out of the ordinary and the cooked chicken was stored so chilled that it was hard to get any flavor out of it. But I did feel satisfied and will try it again if I am in the area. The biggest let down was the lack of a pepper mill, something so small can make such a difference. Instead they had the standard old, tired, pre-ground pepper and old tired iodized salt. Hey, why not have a pepper mill and kosher or sea salt, it would make a big difference and costs almost nothing.

Great loaf of bread to go here for $ 2. Save your money on everything else. There are too many great Italian places in the area. Nice staff for self serve

This is a top choice whenever we want a quick lunch to eat in the restaurant or bring home. Here are the reasons why: — Awesome sandwiches(chicken parm and eggplant parm on hard rolls are favorites) — Salad bar with a wonderful variety and fresh ingredients + two soups available daily — Excellent prepared foods section(great salads, entrees like eggplant rollatini, lasagna, etc.) — Gelato case and dessert case(this weekend’s offerings included pear tarts, tiramisu, cannoli, cakes, cookies…) — Foxon Point beverages — Complimentary samples of stuffed bread — Friendly staff It’s always great!

My wife and I were looking for a quick stop to grab a bite, and we decided on pizza. It’s been such a crap shoot in this are of Connecticut for good pizza, and I’ve been getting so tired of being disappointd. We always noticed alot cars in the parking lot at Pasta Avest, so we stopped in before headin home. My wife made a salad from the salad bar, and i’m a big fan of Sicilian pizza… Their slices were so big, I didn’t think I could eat the whole thing, but I got one anyway… To make a long story short, we went home, I heated my slice in the oven, sat down w/a ice cold beer, and WOWWWWW… this pizza was so good… not heavy, alot of flavor, and just the right amount of cheese and sauce… ohh… and my wife loved the salad. Looks like the parking lot is gonna be a little more crowded from now on.

Thin crust, brick oven, AKA the way true pizza was meant to be. Their specialty pizzas are, for the most part, incredible. A few are bizarrely over-salted, but I guess that’s a matter of taste. The broccoli rabe in particular was VERY salty. Try the chicken parm pizza or clams casino. I would have given Pasta Avest 4, possibly even 5 stars. The reason I went with 3 is because their new computer system has actually resulted in a WORSE experience for the customer. We used to routinely order large pies, one half being one specialty style and the other half being another. The last two times I tried to order this, I was immediately told«the computer won’t let us split up specialty pizzas anymore.» The first time it happened, the owner quickly corrected the person taking my order, and it was fine. The second time it happened, I hung up, and will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.
