I started taking Taoist Tai Chi in this Guilford location in 2004. As I began to learn the moves I also learned the practice of Taoist Tai Chi was not about attaining perfection, but about learning to slowly shift weight and move with intention from one move to the next. In this practice I became less concerned about making a mistake and more concerned about listening to my body and letting go of my busy mind. It feels like a moving meditation when I am in the moment. As years passed, I became a volunteer beginning instructor which helped me understand the set even more. The beauty of this practice is that as I change, so does my tai chi. It is a gentle environment for learning and has grown to a wonderful group!

I’ve been practicing tai chi with this group for five years. When I started, I knew nothing. But the teaching method is so straightforward and the teachers are so patient and positive that I not only learned the entire set but enjoyed the process. It continues to be a wonderful way to relieve stress and improve balance, strength, and coordination. It also focuses the mind in a healthful, helpful way. Good, supportive environment. Definitely worth the effort.

I am a member of this club and I love the welcoming, no-pressure atmosphere. The tai chi makes my body feel wonderful and it’s great stress relief. The club is small compared to others in the organization but the camaraderie makes up for it. :) Highly recommended.
