Yummmmmm! I have not been to The Chimneys since moving away from the Coast ten years ago. My brother and sister-in-law suggested eating there last weekend when I was home for a visit — they go regularly and it’s one of their favorite places. The Chimney’s still has that classic, Coastal feel with terrific views and a beautiful interior that feels upscale and relaxing at the same time. We had a great server named Stephanie that took great care of us(and our drinks were always full.) I had the house salad with their amazing house dressing which is a creole ranch and the Trout 1640 which a light filet of trout with a delicious sauce and tons of fresh crabmeat and shrimp on top. Perfection! Can’t wait to go back!

If you like to pay $ 17 for a wilted iceberg lettuce salad with three shrimp and some crabmeat, then I highly recommend you try the Godchoux salad at The Chimneys. I do give them points for their server taking this entrée off of my bill. The side item I ordered was the sweet potato wedges, and while it is a very small portion, for three dollars they were delicious and worth the price. Also they’re freshly baked bread is super delicious and was served very warm. I live about one hour north of the coast, and in my city, there are way too many restaurants for a restaurant with service and food like this to stay in business. I’m not sure what the current competition for this restaurant is in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. But it must not be much. There is absolutely one unforgivable transgression that a server can commit which to me, sets the tone for how I feel about a restaurant when I leave, and that is whether or not my drinking glass was refilled at a reasonable pace. this may sound very demanding, but it just doesn’t seem that hard to visually scan your tables and see who needs a refill. My glass was never refilled during my meal and as my friend and I stayed at the table to visit and catch up, our table was cleared of items multiple times, without a refill ever being offered. This was my first experience at this restaurant and I would not voluntarily request to return. However, I do hate to give the restaurant only one shot. My friend who suggested this restaurant whom I met for lunch says it is one of her favorites and that her friends have favorite items on the menu and they are always pleased with their selections I guess every restaurant is worth at least one shot, so at least take my vice and pass on that salad. I however, will not return.

Just had an incredible meal from salad to entrée to desert to coffee and a great conversation on Paul Jackson art and life with Pete The Creole salad dressing was great, the pecan crusted grouper was amazing, the Key Lime pie was awesome, and the coffee was very fresh great end to meal. The waitstaff was excellent, very attentive to all our wishes and recognizing our interest in the local artist, bringing over a book of his art. We will be returning again soon, we have four days in Gulfport!

Nice atmosphere but literally the worst steak I’ve ever had. I would rather get a steak from chilis than from here. I just left and I feel so sick from eating it.

Lovely atmosphere and setting; excellent service. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food, which was really quite good. I’m looking forward to trying their brunch some time after reading other reviews!

My husband and I had our date night at The Chimneys. After a long day on the water, it was refreshing to sip on a glass of chilled wine while sitting on the Veranda. The gulf breezes and the beautiful scenery added to the romantic atmosphere. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food was a bit pricey but not obscenely so. The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned. The salad was small but fresh. My husband had the fried shrimp and asparagus, I had the grilled grouper on a rice pilaf. Of course we shared and enjoyed both very much. All in all it was an outstanding dinner experience, We will definitely return.

Ahh! Sunday brunch at the Chimney’s! I had the trout sardou and my wife had the fried eggs and crab cakes. Both meals were as aesthetically pleasing as they were to our taste buds. But let me not leave out the impeccably prompt, attentive and professional server, Meghan, and the ambiance of watching the waves roll in on the beach while eating brunch with your bride. You will never be disappointed here. Always worth the visit. Make reservations though. They are popular for a reason.

Atmosphere was great. Nice view of the gulf and the inside is very inviting. That’s about it. My wife and I went there for our 12 year anniversary. We won’t be back. Service was just OK. She ordered the trout almodine. Dry and too fishy tasting. I ordered a 32 dollar steak. Ordered it medium, it came out well done. Waitress came by later to ask how everything was and I told her the steak was over cooked. She took it back to the kitchen and shortly afterward brought back, what can only be described as a small piece of meat surrounded by a lot of FAT. Worse steak I have ever had. And to make it worse, it was as if we upset the waitress for telling her that it was fatty. All I can say is that this place is nice to sit in, but don’t order the food. Vrazels, please come back.

Had the pleasure of trying this place out! It’s an old house converted over to a restaurant so it has tons of character! Plenty of parking in the back and over looks the gulf. I went in for brunch so what they do is charge $ 20 you pick your main dish and any 2 sides. Price also includes a glass of champagne. It seemed to be a popular place for Christmas parties. Give the grits a go!

Best place for a nice dinner in Gulfport. Inside looks like a country club. Staff is very nice – great southern hospitality. A full bar with some unique drinks. I recommend the Orange Crush or Pickle martini. Seafood dishes are amazing. The Tuna Steak is fabulous. They also make their own salad dressings. Don’t miss the Creole Ranch. Deserts are fantastic. Try the crème brûlée. Casual but one would probably feel most comfortable wearing preppy clothing to this place – khakis and polos. Not a good atmosphere for kids. Great view of the Gulf.

My sister-in-law’s baby shower was hosted at The Chimneys, and it was a really nice event. The restaurant is in a beautiful old plantation home with high ceilings, windows abound, a wraparound porch and classic southern flair. Parking behind the restaurant was easy, and even during Sunday brunch, there was plenty of spots for all of the guests plus regular patrons. Our party had a buffet of shrimp and grits, an egg casserole dish, spinach dip with french bread, key lime pie bites and brownie bites with marshmallow. The shrimp and grits were buttery, subtly cheesy, topped with bacon and absolutely delicious. By far the best grits I’ve ever had. The spinach dip was your average spinach dip, which is always delicious, but nothing original. The egg casserole was not my favorite because the eggs were rubbery and overcooked, and the whole dish lacked moisture or sauce. The key lime pie was good, but that brownie was heavenly! When I return to The Chimneys, I’ll have the shrimp and grits and a tray of marshmallow brownies to go, please. They waitress was offering mimosas(which other ladies in our party enjoyed and drank liberally), but I stuck to soda since I had a 6 hour drive ahead of me. The area they sectioned off for our group had beautiful garden and gulf views. However, it was a little tight for us to move and for the waitress to get to everyone. There was one waitress assigned to our party of about 25 while we were there for about 3 hours. I think perhaps a manager, another server or busboy should have come around to our party every now and then to help our waitress out with bringing drinks and clearing dishes. She was nice, working hard and decently efficient. She sometimes forgot who ordered which drink and was bringing them out one at a time, instead of filling a tray from the bar. She also probably could have served us all a little faster if she weren’t wearing flip flops. Overall I enjoyed my time spent here, and it was a lovely location for a baby shower. I’ll definitely want to come back to dine when I’m next in Mississippi visiting my family.

The blackened stuffed filet and lemon beurre blanc chicken were delicious and the chocolate Martini was to die for! One of my favorite restaurants on the coast!

We went for Father’s Day Brunch and either the kitchen was overwhelmed or just completely off. The Eggs Benedict were over cooked, no runny yolk and one serving had shells still attached, the potatoes were not seasoned and not warm. The service way great as always and the champagne was always filled. This time I fill we did not get our moneys worth.

Best comment I have is that this is a lovely place to look at. We arrived for dinner at 5:30 and no hostess. Our dinning guests were already seated so we just walked to the table. Waitress was attentive and on her game. We ordered Calamari and stuffed mushrooms for apps. Nothing special about the Calamari. Your basic run of the mill, battered calamari with a side of marinara. The stuffed mushrooms were well cooked, and the stuffing was nice and moist. But for a place that is suppose to be a top class dinning experience they might think about using baby portabella or something a bit more exciting for the mushrooms. Salads, exactly what Randy T described. One of the worst salads I have eaten to date. The dressing of Balsamic vinaigrette was so lacking in flavor I wasn’t even sure what the heck it was. 1 small grape tomato cut in half, one slice of cucumber, one ring of red onion and the rest was extremely dark mixed greens. For meals our table ordered the whole stuffed flounder, the Ahi Tuna and then 2 orders of the special of the night, which was a blackened Mahi topped with shrimp and crabmeat, some sort of heavy garlic butter something or other, resting on top of asparagus. The mahi was way over cooked and dry as could be. No blacken spices that I could taste at all. I’m a garlic lover so was not offended by the large amounts of chopped garlic atop my fish, but my dinning partner was less then thrilled. Asparagus and the app of stuffed mushrooms claimed to have holidanse atop them. I think they dragged out the teaspoon to top these items and measured it exactly. They managed to get a dollop of holidanse on 2 of the 5 pieces of apsaragus. For the price you pay here you do not get what you are paying for. Me and my BF left hungry and visited another dinning location for coffee and desserts. Would I give this place another try? not a chance

Decided to visit Chimneys after craving my favorite dish this weekend. This is the first opportunity that I had to visit Chimneys since it has re-opened. The restaurant was rebuilt at the old location in a southern style with lots of windows overlooking the gulf. When we arrived there were less than six tables occupied but you wouldnt have known that by the hostesses actions. Hostess was pre-occupied and kept us and another party waiting while running back and forth. For the calibur this restaurant tries to achieve first impressions can make or break you and having a hostess confused when your slow sure doesnt make a lasting one. When our menus arrived I was disappointed to see a scaled down verison of the original menu with my favorite dish omitted. Our waitress was on top of her game and probably one of the highlights of our visit. The food unfortunately was a little disappointing. I settled on the Grilled Chicken and my partner the Sauteed Vegetables over Pasta. Our salads were mixed greens with only 1 grape tomato and 1 slice of cucumber each. My partner and I found this a little ridiculous and very stingy for any restaurant much less an establishment considered to be a 4 star restaurant. My Chicken dish was good but my partners Vegetable Pasta was disappointing. Although the vegetables were fresh and crisp and the Pasta cooked Al dente there was way too much vinegar used giving the vegetables a pickled taste. Although we enjoyed the ambiance of the evening I would not have made the trip had I known my favorite dish was no longer on the menu and was disappointed that my partner was not able to enjoy her meal.
