This was the first inverted coaster ever. It’s still smooth today(in my opinion). This may look like some ordinary roller coaster, but your 100% WRONG. The loops and corkscrews make this ride fun. The Zero-G roll is a bit rough, so watch your heads on that part! Batman opened in 1992, and it got repainted to yellow and dark purple track in 2004. It seems a bit short for 2 minutes and 2,700 feet. Is it just me though? Anyways, I’ll be coming back for Batman!

Batman: The Ride is an amazing coaster. It is the first of it’s kind inverted coaster which was so successful that it has been copied nine time across the world. It’s fast, intense and a wickedly fun ride that hasn’t lost a step in the twenty two years it has been around. YES it is that old — it was built in 1992! But despite it being that old, I still ride this at least once EVERY time I visit Great America, it is just THAT good…

Best ride ever! Great inversions and smooth turns! This ride is one of my personal favorites. The loops and barrel rolls are so much fun! I always want to ride this ride first. My son enjoys this ride a lot too. If I were you, this ride is one of the rides you should ride the first time you come here.

Kickin’ ass and takin’ names since 1992. A designated American Coaster Enthusiasts landmark ride, it spawned numerous copycats at parks across the country under different names and color schemes. But there is only one ORIGINAL Batman, and she resides in Gurnee. It’s fast, it’s furious, and more than 20 years later, it’s still unbelievably popular. A 64-person operating cycle results in a fast-moving line, even though the line itself might be lengthy. A great way to tell if the wait will be over an hour is to see if there’s people queuing in the courtyard area near the ride’s entrance – if yes, skip it and come back later, if no, get your ass in line! The theming is good(great for Six Flags, who have little-to-no theming for 98% of their rides), but the damp sewer smell in the«caves» near the boarding platform has become more than just a special effect – there really is stagnant water that’s accumulating somewhere. HUGE kudos to the SFGAm crew for revamping the crashed police car scene next to the queue. I remember in past years it looked outdated, decrepit and awful, but I’ll be damned if there wasn’t smoke coming out of the car hood, and the cop car lights looked brand new. This inverted coaster is known for its high positive G’s through 5 inversions; you can especially feel this in the back row. I missed the boat on ‘Backman’(backwards Batman), but riding forward is good enough for me. Take note, though, that any seat that’s not in row 1 has an ‘obstructed view’, which is a direct result of the track being overhead instead of below you. Any seats on the outside are ten times better than those on the inside. Don’t get this ‘Batman’ confused with the 2008 installation of a similar moniker. This coaster *honors* the caped crusader of Chicago(which Gotham City was modeled after)…the other one just embarrasses him. Protip: besides Viper and The Bull, Batman could be the best nighttime ride at the park. Make it your very last ride ~10pm, and wait for the front row. You will not be disappointed.

Best theming, great inversions, great use of inverted coaster type, non-stop action. This was the first inverted coaster in the world changing coaster history forever. There’s a reason they cloned this one 6 times and it has received the American Coaster Enthusiasts Coaster Landmark!

ISHE A VAMPIRE? He likes bats but he’s not even Dracula! And why do all the chicks dig vampires? Those dudes wear too much sun screen and sleep all day. I just don’t get it. Batman doesn’t really have any super powers. Batman is just a regular guy with too much time on his hands. He’s just some rich dude who uses his parents money to make stuff to look cool and he doesn’t even brag about it. Hello… doesn’t he have a twitter account? This ride was kind of developed with that Bruce Wayne attitude. A general manager at 6 flags helped in the development and concept of this coaster. This ride first appeared in May 1992. The costs were never disclosed but it was extremely expensive. Bruce Wayne would be very happy to hear that. In fact, this original ride was cloned at many of the other 6 Flag owned parks. Batman was the worlds first inverted roller coaster when it opened, which is really cool. In fact, it has coaster landmark status by the Amer. Coaster Enthusiasts. Batman would totally be tweeting that to the other superheroes if he liked to brag. He doesn’t even tell anyone who he is except for a few trusted people like Morgan Freeman. This ride reaches a height of 106 feet and top speeds of 50MPH. It even went backwards for a few months in 2013. I never got to try it backwards because the lines were insane. Two hour waits did not seem like a fun time. Hopefully they will run that promotion again in the near future. I was surprised they didn’t extend it through the end of summer. Bruce Wayne would have totally extended it. Again I love the front row and I love riding this at night. As the rider you are sitting in a chair lift with your feet dangling. The roller coaster track is above your head, so when you go upside down all you see are your feet and sky. Yes this ride is fun. It is located just past the Lobster(original ride name) and in front of the Whirlywig, which are the suspended swings that go in a circle. So if you want to fly and ride in a coaster that set the bar for all roller coasters, then you need to check out Batman. Now remember there are two batman coasters here which can get confusing. If you are riding Batman and you are indoors, then you are not on this Batman ride I am reviewing! Confused? Don’t be… just look at a map.
