You spin my head right round, and upside down like a record! The Orbit is an old-school enterprise ride at Six Flags. It’s good for tough stomachs because it goes upside down and spins. The wait time isn’t long on this line. The longest line I’ve seen on this ride was about 10 minutes. It’s because this ride has a large capacity. The ride itself isn’t too bad. I just wish it was a bit longer. You start spinning after the horn beeps. Then you start to go upwards until you go upside down. You only go upside down twice. Finally, the ride goes downwards, and spins until the ride is at a complete stop. There are no restraints or seat belts. There is something above you to pull down, so you won’t fall out. It’s interesting that Six Flags does that. All in all, The Orbit is a fun upside-down ride. I’ll come back here.

It’s a fun ride, especially if you have a strong stomach ;)

If you easily get sick on normal rides then do not go on this one! And do NOT eat before you go on it or else people will be covered in vomit and will be mad at you. If you are someone who does not get sick easily or eat before you ride things you have to ride it! It feels like you are driving a flying car or spaceship when it goes really fast. And the line is not that long most of the time.

BEAMMEUP It is hard to believe that this ride opened in 1976 because it seems very new. This ride is just 2 years away from turning 40 and it still looks great. Currently they call it the Orbit but it originally opened as the Orleans Orbit because of its location in Orleans Place. It was manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf. The official ride name is «The Enterprise», in case you are wanting to search for more info about this style of ride. You are probably wondering why call it the Enterprise? It was named after the ship from the TV series Star Trek and to ride on it feels like you’re boldly going where no man has gone before. I believe it simulates Capt Kirk losing control of the ship as you fall into a black hole. I must admit when I was a little kid I loved this ride. Now my little kid loves this ride and I get dragged on it. It’s not my favorite any more but I enjoy the family memories we are making. Three different companies manufacture«The Enterprise». HUSS, Schwarzkopf, and Heinz Fähtz and each shares the same name. The ride comes in two versions: a mobile and an in the park version. My fears are that after 38 years in our park the Six Flags Corporate People may pillage this ride for its park-ride-share program. We have already lost two rides in the last two years because of this. Both the Iron Wolf and Ragin’ Cajun have been moved. Now the two rides they took don’t bother me because each caused certain pains to me but if this one goes I would be sad because of its long history. I’m going to need to take my grand kids on this one day. Let’s talk a little bit about the ride. There are 20 gondolas and up to two people can ride together. The ride is arranged in a giant circle. Once you are secured, the ride moves clockwise and adds a slight feeling of centrifugal force. Then a giant hydraulic arm lifts the ride. Before you know it you are at 87 degrees and your once horizontal state is no very vertical. Hold on tight if you can! If you have a weak stomach, then please ride on this before you fill up on greasy Six Flags food. You would hate to lose a $ 16 burger and fries on the Orbit. I would also not like it if you shared it with me. I always love pointing out to my little one that when I was a kid these rides didn’t have seat belts. Unfortunately many of the Six Flag rides that never had seat belts now do. This is what I call Physics versus Six Flags Insurance Rider. Apparently the lawyers don’t trust physics. The centrifugal force of this ride is enough to keep you in place as you spin but stupid lawsuits keep the fun in check. So frustrating. So if you are up to it then I recommend you take a spin on the Orbit. Spock and Capt Kirk would be proud of you as you spin vertically and black out. I always feel like this ride would be perfect training for an astronaut program. So channel your inner Major Tony Nelson or Buzz Lightyear and climb aboard your space adventure.
