its weird cuz dsw is usually a hit or miss for me. either i find 10 pairs of awesome shoes & i wanna buy them all or i find nothing in my size. this was the case where i found nothing but i still give it 3 stars cuz i like some of the styles but they just didnt have my size.

I don’t come often but 2 years back I went shoe shopping for homecoming with a friend and her mom. The pair of shoes I wanted were out of stock in my size but I needed them soon so it was hard to order them and be sure they would arrive on time. I really really wish I could remember the sales lady’s name because she was incredible. We asked about other locations that might have them and they were all out. She went out of her way to order them from a special warehouse or something in Wisconsin to ensure I would get them soon. She didn’t just apologize for the inconvenience and move on. She spent about 15 minutes making phone calls and going out of her way. I was so pleased. We even told her manager how amazing she was. So great customer service! Way to go!

I bought a pair of boots for myself while Christmas shopping. I understand that I am not going to get super high quality boots at DSW but I do have some level of expectations of quality. After only a handful of wears the heal is falling apart and the material on the toes is coming off.
These boots have been worn so I wasn’t looking for a refund. Just possibly credit or partial credit toward a different purchase.
However, the manager explained to me that the shoes that they sell at DSW are not supposed to last longer than one season of wear. She told me that if you get less than a month of wear out of them then they can help but if they last a month or more that is really all that they expect the shoes to last. These boots were $ 70. While I understand that I’m not getting high quality leather boots, if I had known that they only expected me to get 1 month of wear out of them I would have shopped somewhere else.

DSW is definitely the 1st spot to go to when looking for footwear.
I’d head straight to the back as their clearance section is great! Offering you 30, 40, and 50% off depending on the color of the sticker
Sometimes you’ll score that great pair, other times there won’t be anything there for you.

DSW is the only place I can always find the shoe I need, and also in my size. Almost every shoe had my size (women’s 11).
This new location in Gurnee is very large, clean and has plenty of mirrors and sitting areas. They also have a nicely organized area for discounted shoes. The variety here is outstanding — of both shoes, and accessories (purses and socks), and the prices and sizes are always clearly marked.
The store employees were actively keeping the place tidy, and were friendly at check out.
I’m really glad they opened up this location. I’ll be back.
