Macy’s

I was shopping for shoes and stopped in to see what Macy’s had. As I walked up I noticed only one employee in the men’s shoe department. He stood there as if he should not be bothered. Another couple walked up to him before I was able to speak to him. They asked a few questions that received snide responses as to their sense of fashion pertaining shoes that they were looking for. Shortly into this conversation they left. I then approached the sales clerk and inquired about some boat shoes that I had seen they had online. He looked me up and down, grinned, and told me that they do not carry «those» shoes here at Macy’s. I proceeded to explain that I had come this location as the Macy’s website stated they had them and was not interested in the shoes he was trying to sell me instead. Seemingly perterbed, he said he would check on the status of the shoes in the back… he came back out while talking on his phone laughing and did not come back to speak to me. I eventually left and informed one of the managers of this indiviuals behaviour and was informed that there are other places to shop. If this is your style of survice, by all means go to Macy’s. I’ll be sticking with a much more reputable retail.

Sunday afternoon looking for suit. Not one person asks if they could help. Been here 35 minutes. All the clerks look unhappy.
They wonder why people shop online. This is why!

This is a beautiful store! I believe it’s fairly brand new, within past few years. It’s laid out well, it’s very bright and clean. It’s a great one! A million times better than the one at Vernon Hills. This one is a bit far for me, so I don’t get here often, but when I do it’s the first place i want to go.
I absolutely recommend hitting up this Macy’s for all your Department Store needs.

Came here yesterday for Mother’s Day with my mom. We originally went to exchange some shoes and the gentleman working the shoe section was very helpful. Very quiet but upon ringing us up, there was a price difference between exchanges. This was was not a big deal but he went out of his way to return, re-​ring the new shoes and then offered to apply a coupon without us asking. That was very much appreciated and we were very happy with the customer service in that department. He gets 5 stars!
Then we were looking specifically for the taller section in men’s for my man (he’s 6’7″) and I had to hunt down an associate. When I finally found one, the women was so short and rude. Generally, if you are not able to help a customer find what they are looking for, then you should try and help them or give them other suggestions. Side note: they do not have a tall section in this store and not impressed with the customer service and attitude in this department. Will not be returning to shop here for men’s clothing.
They also have a Starbucks and a decent sized seating section in the store.

This particular Macy’s is a fraction the size of a typical Macy’s. It really goes in theme with the Gurnee Mills bare-​bones outlet store theme. Don’t waste your time here as he won’t find what you need. Went to find upscale undershirts but all they had were picked over open packages of cheap brands.

This is the first time I was at the Macy’s in Gurnee mills. For being in such a large mall I thought this would be an extraordinary Macy’s with a big selection. This could be anything but the case. The polo Ralph Lauren section was a fifth of the size of other locations that I’ve been to. This appeared to be the case with all of their other brand-​name sections as well. I personally didn’t care for the layout of the store either. It has this huge square layout and makes it difficult to see where different sections of the store are located. I felt like I was at Brookfield zoo looking for my clothes. I’m more of a Lincoln Park animal zoo kind of guy. They didn’t have a wide variety of clearance items either which was a shame because I had a $ 20 off a $ 50 purchase when shopping for clearance items. Long story short, I would not recommend this Macy’s over other locations that I’ve been to.

Had the absolute worst experience there this weekend trying to get the links taken out of my Michael Kors watch I received for Christmas. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to who they took next, had to wait forever. The man and woman working were rude as well

Great store. Very helpful people. Best app of all large stores as well If you take a few minutes to learn it.

Macy’s is great! Old fashion incredible service you don’t see these days! Millen at the makeup counter was amazing again! Went in with my Christmas list She walked me around helping me find 10 things on that list. She remembered from a year ago what my wife liked! Then she offered to wrap them. I am a horrible wrapper I told her I was looking for a suit. She walked me over to suits. Introduced me to Karla. She found exactly what I was looking for. She said it would be ready next week. Did all the measurements. Helped pick out a shirt to go with it. Have I told you Macy’s is amazing. Thank you very much ladies!

I go to the store quite often and every time I go I seem to get no help when I ask for it. I just left the store because I was trying to find a coat and a certain size asked for different employees and nobody seem to help me they just kept saying look for somebody in the department when they could’ve easily found somebody or help me find the item I was looking for instead they continue to have personal conversation the entire time I was in there looking.

I love Macys! So much better selection here than Marshalls across the mall. I picked up a few awesome dress shirts for $ 20 a pop. Can’t beat it! They also stock a ton of my favorite shirts (Club Room), so I usually get a few while I’m over there. I was also a fan of their clearance rack, which had some great deals as well.

This has to be the worst customer service in the nation. I called about a pair of shoes after visiting the store earlier in the week. Talked with a sales guy said they didn’t stock that brand, i said I tried them on a week ago and he said hold and transferred me to a phone that just rang and rang. I called back talked with operator that put me on hold were the phone just hung up, i will never go their again.

Gurnee. Macy’s, started out strong great customer service friendly people, who looked to be proud of being Macy’s employees. Was there last week, horrible customer service 35 min to purchase one pair one shoes, and out of sizes and styles for my husband. Several of employees had dirty pants and torn up shoes. So disappointed. Looks like they need an unannounced manager visit.

Don’t waste your time in the shoe department. Every shoe I asked for, they couldn’t find the other pair in the back. The associate said, «Well, people must walk out with the other shoe.» How does that even make sense?

The cosmetic department at every other Macy’s is extremely helpful. However, recently I went into the Clinique requesting for a quick make-​up styling (as I usually do). The woman I approached was friendly, but was inadequate at her job.
She inquired if I had made an appointment or not, and I stated no, since I was previously there a few weekends ago, and the manager stated that no appointment was needed. After stating this, the woman took this opportunity and said «well you know you’re going to have to make a purchase before we start. It’s a new policy». I inquired when this policy was in effect, and she stated it had been more than a year.
I would like to state that this Macy’s has not even been open for a year, and that I was just in a few weekends ago, requesting the same thing. She wouldn’t even look me in the eye, and acknowledging her unprofessional demeanor (to try and make a quick sales) was inappropriate, but rude, I decided to tell her to have a wonderful day. Coincidently, she stated that she would still do it for me, but already disappointed with this Clinique’s scandalous operation, I proceeded elsewhere for my request.
Needles to say, I will not be returning to their make up department.

This Macy opened up back in July. I was pretty excited when I heard it’s coming to the Gurnee area just because we live out so far out from all the shopping malls. Well, there is Mayfair in Milwaukee or Bayshore. But we barely go towards that way. We should! This Macy is okay. I usually like the one that is 2 levels or more and with the food court. Most of the time I can find things here but it all depends. The service here are okay. It sucks sometimes cause when you want to checkout there’s like no one at any of the counters or it’s super busy.

They have like… no people working here. I wanted to see some watches and there was one lady for 3 or 4 jewelry areas. I waited about 15 minutes for her to be free and then I wandered to see if someone else could help me. I then found one other lady and upon asking her for help, she just tells me no. I asked her why she couldn’t help me and all she said was «she’s over there» and pointed at the lady who was still busy with another customer. This lady was literally doing NOTHING and proceeded to watch me while I waited another 20 minutes for the original busy lady. After waiting for so long, I ended up giving up and leaving, extremely disappointed and annoyed that I had wasted so much time there.
This Macy’s is really new and clean, but unless they get some more workers or at least workers who are friendly, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

This new Macy’s is supposed to change Gurnee Mills Mall from an outlet center to a mall with full price options. It is new, and it contains many of the standard Macy’s lines from Alfani to Calvin Klein and Dockers. The reason I’m ambivalent about this new addition is that the available merchandise is so generic. It’s a very basic Macy’s. It does not have the same options available at Macy’s in Hawthorne, Northbrook or Old Orchard. It’s more downscale. That’s fine. It’s not to say that Macys offers inferior products, but this one is inferior to its neighbors with regard to merchandise.
They do not contain a full line of cosmetics, either. It’s just the basic major brands.
The best part about Macy’s is the sales, so the reality is that you will be able to shop here with coupons during sales periods and find this merchandise at near outlet prices. Otherwise, you can find practically the same merchandise in the mall at some of the same outlets for the brands they carry at this store, like Kenneth Cole, Nautica, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger.
There is one mini-​perk, and there is a new Starbucks in the store. Coupled with the other one in the mall, the one in Target, Dominicks, on Dilleys Road on on west Grand, now we have 6 in Gurnee. Overkill if you asked me.
My motto is «why pay retail?» I’m inclined to add, why then shop here?

The new super sleek Macy’s in Gurnee Mills transforms the former outlet mall into a full line mall. Everything is on one floor, with efficient use of space, and a full assortment. The new Macy’s anchors a new wing at Gurnee Mills that has full priced stores with a sleek new look. The only complaint I have is the Frango’s section needs to be bigger. This little endcap does little justice to the 7^th floor devoted to Frango’s at the State St. Macys. Almost forgot, my favorite part of the new Macy’s is the in-​store Starbucks! Now while the wife shops, I can relax in luxury!
