The Sumney is a great place for affordable family dining as well as an awesome place to grab a few lagers and a couple orders of wings. They have a rotating food special nearly every night of the week. From what I can remember off the top of my head… Tuesday is all dinner entrees are $ 11.95 and Wednesday is AYCE Fish & Chips for around $ 10 or $ 11 bucks. I’ve had everything from the Shepherd’s Pie to the rack of ribs and haven’t really been disappointed yet. The Sumney also has a great Sunday brunch as well featuring a waffle and omlette bar and all the bacon, sausage, scrapple and eggs that my fat little heart desires. I usually come here for the later evening happy hour special(starts at 8:30PM) where domestics around around $ 2.50 and bar food is a solid $ 4.95. The service can be hit or miss, depending on who you get but certainly not terrible by any means. The décor leaves a bit to be desired but the atmosphere ain’t bad.

This was my first time at The Sumney and I was very pleased! We got there around 5 and were the first to sit in our section, which filled quickly. Service was attentive, and a strong support staff was present. Our Milky way martinis were delicious and the presentation was adorable! My mom got shrimp alfredo and a super tasty cream of potato soup. I got the shrimp and goat cheese salad that was on special. Let me tell you how flavorful, rich, and dynamic this salad was! It also had some pickled beets, egg, and avocado along with some other goodness over mixed greens. I got it with the raspberry vin on he side. If you are ever there and see this on the board, ORDERIT!!! Needless to say, we plan on going back again and trying some other menu items!

We’ve been here on weekdays and weekends and at different times of day. Food is consistently good. The service is good for how busy it usually is, and I’m usually with a big group. That’s tough to keep everything straight and everyone taken care of, and we’ve always been pleased.

Decent food with reasonable prices, but always slow service. I go here at least twice a month, have been for about a year, and get the same problems. The sweet potato fries keep me coming back though. Slow service is really their biggest problem. They also do a lot of different events(music, magicians, kids’ nights and so on) that are always fun and interesting to check out.

Had a surprise birthday party for my wife with 18 people. Everybody loved the three food choices we made – Tilapia with crab meat, Chicken Marsala and Beef Burgundy, all from the catering menu. Service was also great.

Came here for Sunday brunch, never been here before. Buffett was good and fresh. The bloody Mary’s were spicy, and the service was good. The best part is the guy who makes waffles and omelets to order. He has clearly been doing this for years, is personable, seems to enjoy his job and is able to have 3 omelets and 2 waffles cooking at the same time. We are not buffet people, but we would come back for sure! My only complaint is that the coffee tastes stale and old.

Love the scones. The brunch buffet is all I’ve been to here several times, and it was excellent every time. That get’s five stars. Can’t comment further.

Love their brunch, but the price is way too high now. $ 13.95 for a simple buffet is way too much!

Very good food, even the takeout is good. If you’re not familiar with it or new in the area you may look past it but make sure you check it out. Great brunch on Sunday’s too. Small but quality bar.

To be honest, I was less than excited to try this place based on its outside appearance, but as soon as I tried the food I knew that I would become a regular. The meal starts with complimentary scones… if that sole fact doesn’t interest you I don’t know what will. For my entrée I tried their salmon blt with no bacon(#vegetarian problems) and with a side of sweet potato fries. Let’s just say that I cleaned my plate and have ordered the same thing every time I have dined here. The portions are generous and the service is pretty solid.

Went back for Brunch on 3⁄8 and the food was good, as usual. The hostess, Linda, however totally fouled up on our reservation. We had reserved a table and had asked for a particular one due to a handicap. Upon arriving that table had just been seated and, since she«didn’t know our names», she had chosen a booth for us. When told that this was unacceptable she put us at a crapy little table up against a wall. Why make a reservation if it’s not going to be honored. After over 130 visits it shouldn’t matter WHO you are.

Inexpensive, the food was great, pulled pork and house made chips, meals arrived fast to our table, everyone is friendly.

This is a pretty typical place. I ordered a burger medium and in came out medium well. The service was excellent, but the burger killed their rating. My mom had a Reuben and she loved it. My father had a cheese steak and said it was ok. I would try the place again. I would expect mediocrity again.

We just moved down the road from the Sumney. We went there for dinner trying to become familiar with our new neighborhood. I like that they gave us crayons and coloring sheets for the kids as soon as we got there. The place is old and outdated but we didn’t mind. I LOVED the French onion soup but my prime rib was just okay– lacked seasoning for my liking. They have a nice bar but my gin and tonic was super small, and cost $ 5. Not happy about that. My kids got grilled cheese and ate all their dinner. All in all it was a pretty good dinner. I see us frequenting it for a quick and low key family meal.

I’ve only been here for Sunday brunch and it was good. It definitely fit the bill for a typical Irish restaurant, big oak bars and slightly dark atmosphere, but I like that every now and again. Will need to return for a proper meal but brunch was good, fresh and a nice variety of foods.

The Mrs and myself made our first venture to The Sumney last night after hearing rave reviews from a coworker. We were just looking for a place to get a couple good sandwiches and unwind after a long day. The positives about this place is the food, now granted, I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my wife had a burger, so we didn’t dig too deep into the menu. But everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted out of this world. They seem to have entertainment there quite often, there was a abracadabra… magician there, the kids around us loved it. The porch room with the fire place was a real nice place to eat and warm up on a cool night. The negatives, it’s a bit over priced. Our bill was $ 32.00, for the two sandwiches, two sodas and an order of onion rings. A burger at a pub shouldn’t be pushing $ 10. Also they are awful strict on their menu, I want a chicken sandwich with cheddar, lettuce and tomato, they wouldn’t let me add cheese unless I went up to the higher priced sandwich, that included bacon. I didn’t want bacon but still had to pay for it. The dining is loud, it was nicer in the porch room, thankfully.

Mehhh, I could take it or leave it when it comes to The Sumney. It’s ok. It’s nothing special, but I generally know that the cheeseburger will be delicious(it’s very good, no joke) and the chips they serve with it will be entirely too salty to the point they are inedible. Seriously, has the owner or the chef actually tried these chips? The menu is large though so I’m sure you will always find something you’ll want to eat. Aside from the food, the décor is pretty dated and the tables are a bit too small and beat up. The service is decent, but clearly they aren’t hustling. It appears this place still does a killing during lunch(and I’m presuming happy hour) and the prices aren’t too bad, but it could stand to go through a serious renovation. It needs the Chef Robert touch. All in all, it’s fine for a burger, a beer, and a chat.
