5 Stars for the sign on the door: CLOSEDFORREMODELING. And we can only hope, restructuring, rethinking, reshopping, redoing, renaming, rehiring, rebranding(seriously, when there’s a separate review page for«Saka Seafood Buffet» you should know your logo’s bad)…

Disgusting. Went for Fri dinner. Place was nearly empty. The sushi section was unattended so flies were all over the food. Found tiny insects in the ginger and I notified one of the servers about this. Instead of disposing it, he took it to the sink and started rinsing them. Raw meat at the Mongolian BBQ section didn’t looked fresh and wasn’t properly chilled. The cooked food all looked to be leftovers from lunch. If you want a buffet of food safety violations, this is your place. If not, stay away.

I’ve been a few times over the past couple of years. i would say it’s no more than 2.5 stars for a buffet, when it’s busy. This past weekend just broke the straw for me. Came in at 6pm. less than 10 people. ALL of the food was old from at least 1 hour ago. 1) NO new food came out for at least 30 minutes. How can you do business like this? 2) They started to pour WATER over the food to make it look fresh! They did this to the ‘backed salmon, oyster, and baked clams. 3) I talked to one of the cashiers — She didn’t realize this was occurring. I’ve rarely give 1 stars, but this is not the way to serve people.

Food sucked there. and the Oyster bar was serving oyster in a plate of melt ice. I went against my better judgment and ate one… yep. Food poisoning. Had to go to the ER and call out sick for the next 3 days. Not going back ever again…

The 2 star average is pretty accurate here. My bottom line: the food is inconsistent and poorly executed. Good thing I wasn’t very hungry to begin with when I came here. I currently live in Kansas City and the seafood at their buffets are better. The sashimi was not the freshest(which is not surprising at a buffet), but the cuts were inconsistent and I could tell just by looking at the tuna that it had previously been frozen. The halved lobster tails were overcooked, salty, and unnecessarily caked with a spicy mayo, the fruit doesn’t look nor taste fresh, and the servers look like they’re not doing a whole lot. The piece of «coffee cake» was dry. We had dirty dishes on our table for extended periods of one and I currently(yes, I’m Unilocaling this at my seat) see 8 – 10 employees. My parents and their friends all had issues with this and that. Definitely don’t recommend this place and definitely will steer clear of it in future visits to family here in LA.

I went to Osaka Seafood Buffet with a large party. This restaurant is large and is great for holding large parties. Unfortunately, the praise starts stops there. My party came in during lunch time and there were only about 10 other people at the restaurant. A small number of people at a buffet restaurant is a pretty clear sign to stay away! I have to agree with the other reviewers that this place is pretty terrible. Is the food edible? Somewhat, yes. Is the food fresh? Definitely no! I strayed away from the sashimi and seafood as I didn’t want to get sick. I tried the rolls and it was definitely off. The meat in the Mongolian station looked old and I stayed safe with the veggies. The hot food wasn’t fresh and the soups could have been warmer in temperature. The dessert station wasn’t too appetizing with cakes that looked like they had been previously frozen. There is a self serve ice cream station that looked promising, but the flavors were off as well. The best thing at the buffet is the fresh fruit which doesn’t say much for a seafood buffet. Save your money and go elsewhere. I noticed on Unilocal that this restaurant went under new management several times. I wouldn’t be surprised if it closed down soon.

Tragic. This place has a gorgeous interior and that’s about where the quality ends. The Mongolian station has meat that looks like it hasn’t been refrigerated in days. Everyone from the servers to the chefs seem depressed. The only person with some kind of enthusiasm was the hostess and she seemed to be over it. The best part of my meal was the self-serve ice cream. Self-serve ice cream? I wonder how sanitary that can be. I’ll update this review if I end up hugging the porcelain throne in a few hours. The worst part of it all was that the bathroom smelled like a back alley in Chinatown. Seriously. The urinals piping had mold on it. Huh? That can’t be good for respiratory issues. Somebody get some new ownership or management up in here. A beautifully designed restaurant should not go to waste because of mediocre food, droll service, and a restroom that smells like they slaughtered the meat back there.

Asian buffets are all pretty similar… they serve some sushi, dim sum, fresh fruits, a variety of entrees, chicken wings(a must), desserts, and the occasional mongolian bbq section. Some are better than others, but they’re all pretty mediocre in my opinion. The quality is low but it’s the quantity that you’re paying for. My favorite items to get at Osaka are the green beans, baked salmon, mixed seafood with veggies, and baked scallops. Don’t come here for the sushi because it’s not very good. They had lobster claws on the buffet menu when I visited most recently, but it wasn’t very good. On holidays, they bring reallyyyy small lobsters to your table(half of one, actually — half of one/per person). From the looks and taste of their meats and seafood, I could tell that the quality of the meats were low. Again, it’s an Asian buffet and quality is not what you come for. On a better note, they replaced their faulty soft serve machine with a self-serve fridge that holds 4 different ice cream flavors! Yay! That soft serve machine they used to have was hardly ever working when I was there because it was always broken. Now, they serve Thrifty(i think its Thrifty) ice cream — chocolate, strawberry, green tea and chocolate chip! Osaka has a lot of tables and even has a private dining room for parties. I noticed that over the years, the crowd has gone down at this place. On a holiday, there was no wait! If that isn’t a sign, then I don’t know what is… The service I most recently received here was awesome. The guy waiting on us kept refilling our drinks and was very nice. Our plates were cleared pretty quickly too.

Lunch party of 40 … Surprisingly delicious sushi buffet — I rarely like buffets especially if they serve sushi. But it’s delicious and affordable. Fresh oysters were yummy. They have hot menu items as well, seafood selections, vegetarian options, desserts, dim sum and hot soup varieties.

Our group of about 35 ended up coming to Osaka for dinner on a whim recently, and we were seated on the east end of the restaurant. We pretty much had the entire section until more people started to show up. The restaurant was bigger and cleaner than I had imagined it to be when someone suggested we eat there, and the food was actually not too bad(at least not as bad as a lot of these reviews are saying). I don’t have extremely high expectations when eating at any buffet-style restaurant, so in that regard, I’d say Osaka was A-OK. The sushi section was decent at best(the rice wasn’t very good at all), and the sashimi(esp the salmon) was okay. The rolls weren’t spectacular, but they were fine. The Chinese section, IMO, was better than the Japanese section. The fried rice was good, and I enjoyed the baked scallops, coconut shrimp, and peppered steak. Our server brought out lobster for each of us; our excitement quickly died down after biting down on the rubbery lobster, but whatever. For around $ 20/person, it’s a bit on the higher end, but as I said earlier, the restaurant was clean, the food was average-to-above-average(for a buffet), and service was good(esp considering the fact that we had one server for the 35 of us). I think Jackie W accurately summed it up when she said, «You won’t be impressed but you won’t be disappointed either!»

$ 13 for a weekday lunch. I think that’s pretty decent for a buffet. You probably pay around the same price at a fast food joint after ordering a soft drink and a super size upgrade and then there’s also that desert. I didn’t waltz in here with the highest expectations because it’s a buffet(not a Vegas buffet) where food is mass produced. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I participated. I actually had a bit of their sushi and rolls, and it wasn’t too bad. It wasn’t the freshest I’ve ever had but the FDA would definitely approve. Shrimp cocktail was delightful, of course you peel the shrimp yourself but I think that’s better to retain temperature and hygiene for everybody. Then I had my fix of Chinese food — soup, black bean clams, broiled tilapia, broiled mussels, fried rice, string beans. There’s quite the variety here from sushi and Chinese food to a little section of American(fries, wings, onion rings, fried spring rolls) to a noodle bar and also fruit and deserts. You won’t be impressed but you won’t be disappointed either!

As many have said, the sushi here is pretty bad. I’m still giving this place 2 stars since AYCE lunch was only $ 11.99 and that’s almost the same price as a McDonalds meal. However, I have to agree that the fish was… well fishy in that I wasn’t sure if It would make me sick. I usually love unagi, but their eel didn’t even look like an eel. Overall, it’s not a bad place for lunch if you’re hungry but I wouldn’t come here again.

Holy fuck… i rarely give out 1 stars, but this place totally deserves it. every time i was about to eat something, i was scared for my stomach and life. i was seriously thinking with each bite, i’d get food poisoning. all the buffet items were extremely lackluster and downright scary to eat. crème de la crème had to be the lobster in the back. it looked like it had been sitting out for a while and when my sister for the lobster it was covered in cheese… first of all, who puts cheese on lobster… upon closer inspection, we noticed the lobster meat has this blueish/greenish hue to it. fucking gross… lets talk about the hot and sour soup. how does one mess that up? well, i guess we could ask osaka chef’s… i really enjoy my hot and sour soup and this was a huge letdown. it was watery as fuck and it just tasted like sadness. =/ the sushi was nothing to rave about. i felt like i got mercury poisoned from it. the fried rice was hard to eat. like when you leave rice out for a while and it gets hard. i almost chipped a tooth eating it. all the dishes, look like they have been sitting there for a while and look very stagnate. surprisingly the only thing decent was the chocolate cake. i was impressed they didn’t fuck that item up. honestly, save your money and DONOTEATHERE.

I came here with my extended family as a joint birthday dinner for me and my cousin… in retrospect I don’t know why I let my crazy uncle pick the location. Anyway, the gist of it is that both my cousin and I had food poisoning two days after we ate here, with the exact same timing and symptoms. Both of us had eaten copious amounts of oysters at Osaka Buffet, probably at least a half-dozen each. The rest of our family members are not nearly so keen on oysters as the two of us so they were fine. If I were forced to say something good about this place, it’d be that they have a fairly decent Mongolian BBQ station. For that they had 1 guy at that station who was clearly overworked, I waited 10 minutes for someone to refill the onions because he was way too busy cooking other people’s food.

Sigh. I’ve been to this location at least 4 times now and I’m never satisfied: T Not sure why my mom insists on eating here — it’s really NOT that great. The food is just EH. — Sushi section is sorta weak. overstuffed with rice, not consistent, rolls are sub par — Soup section has plenty of variety but it’s all really bland and watered down. — Dim Sum section is whatever, not that great… sorta dried out(as expected) — Food is very Chinese influenced but soooo salty!!! I always try to avoid eating rice/noodles at buffets to avoid getting full quickly but w/o rice here it’s just super salty! BUT it’s tasty… — Fried section is just. HUH? Tastes like its from the freezer. — «Mongolian» noodle like Great Khanh’s is actually OK(again sorta salty) but it’s one of the better things they offer here. — Dessert section is just soooo sad. The dessert is supposed to be one of the BEST parts of a buffet and what I look forward to the most but I actually don’t eat ANY of the«cakes» they have out. only a small bowl of the soft serve they had(which the machine is ½ broken 99% of the time).

I’ll keep this short and simple… Don’t do it. Just click [BACK] or [EXIT] or something! Look elsewhere. Slap the person driving you here and tell them to make a U-turn. Grab the wheel if you have to!!! I absolutely hate it when someone likes a place and insist on going but they have no idea what Unilocal is. nor do they ever contribute to this useful site. On my way here I looked it up on my phone and was like«oh eff me!» I’m not going to elaborate on this, just read the negative reviews. Asian seafood buffet should already be a warning. My people definitely go by a different food safety code, which I think is «you won’t die from this… most likely… probably…it’s just watery poop, you’ll be fine» Stay the heck away from anything raw or you expect to eat fresh. Heat lamps and the cooking process is your friend since it kills off most bacteria.

I don’t want to completely give this place 1 star even as I nurse my aching stomach and my cat who’s sitting next to me is wondering what the rumbling sound coming from my stomach is. The other cooked foods was aiight like one would expect from a non-Vegas Asian buffet, they had a lot of seafood dishes(no surprise) as well as Mongolian bbq noodles made to order along with chicken and some other meat I didn’t care to try. The hot & sour soup wasn’t too shabby to be honest and their coconut shrimp was pretty tasty. Their mussels with spicy sauce was okay but extremely soft… I still don’t know how I feel about that part. While the fried shrimp, french fries, baked salmon, clams(suuuuuper fishy) and, dim sum and beef with mushroom dish gotta go. So…I haven’t ate sushi in a long time and I really missed the taste of sashimi so when I saw the pieces of sashimi as well as the nigiri I fought with myself to take a piece. My sissy of course caught me and chastised me into dropping the tongs saying I’d get sick. Fine fine :[ But a-ha! Cut rolls with a piece of raw fish inside! She won’t notice… We get back to the table and I taste some of the cooked dishes… soup, good. Rice noodles, bad. Fried rice, boring. Steamed fish, okay. Now my secret piece of spicy tuna cut roll… yuck…so warm and mushy. oh well just swallow it and move onto the next one. Oooh cut roll with bonito flakes and some kind of mystery raw fish… crap this one is warm mush too… swallow.swallow. On the way home driving through Hacienda Blvd and I start to feel a rumbley in my tumbley. Oh crap. OMG why does my dad drive like a grandpa?! Step on it pops!!! As we inch closer to home the worse it becomes and I text Pinky that we’ll just hang out tomorrow bc I’m feeling a wee bit«tired». Finally home sweet home and I spend all night in my room with my own private bathroom. Not too shabby of a buffet as long as you stay away from the raw stuff. But most likely I won’t be back, I’ve been scarred.

First Let me say after reading all the bad reviews, I had to just try it myself. So here is my review of this place. The place itself was very clean, the food was not of what other have review it to be. I enjoyed my visit. It was a Friday lunch and for 10.99 I cannot think of a place that would have that much selection or offer me more then this place. There was a great selection of food and I loved them all. I really don’t get all the bad reviews I mean what do you expect for 10.99. If you want a $ 40 buffet then go to the Hilton. But for the price that you pay here. The select itself is well worth the price. I have lots of picture and have up posted it. Check them out.

I gave Osaka Seafood Buffet in Hacienda Heights a chance despite all the negative backlash because I was thoroughly impressed with their location in Brea(Review Here: ). Let me make something very clear: THISRESTURANTISON A DIFFERENTLEVELOFGOD-AWFUL. These 2 restaurants SHAREVERYFEWTHINGSINCOMMON other than the same business name. The Ambiance & Décor Grade: B This isn’t an ugly restaurant, it’s very modern and APPEARS to be very clean. I think it would make a nice Chinese restaurant if it wasn’t a buffet. Service Grade: B We were seated immediately after being allowed to take a look at the deceptively attractive food. The staff came by periodically to take our plates. My water was only refilled once and that was near the end of my meal. The food, excluding the roast duck and the salmon nigiri, was refilled at a decent pace. I personally think they’re overstaffed. Food Grade: C The mackerel nigiri was positively memorable and the rice noodles were easy to eat. Their hot and sour soup was enjoyable. The spinach with garlic and garlic mushrooms were acceptable. French fries were well seasoned and the cooked prawns were good in my book. Their«snapper» sashimi wasn’t the worst I’ve had. The soft serve with sugar cookies were depressingly addicting. The piece of fish and black bean sauce I picked up tasted like how garbage smells. The outer layer of their baked salmon tasted like brine or a filthy salt bath. Their salmon nigiri was replenished at an awkward pace and wasn’t even that good. Their coconut chicken was unacceptably dry. Conclusion & Price Grade: D TWOTHINGSSTANDOUTTOME: 1. The C Health Inspection Rating on the window at the front of the restaurant. 2. I am ABSOLUTELYPOSITIVE I saw the MONGOLIANBBQ chef PICKINGHISNOSE as I was coming out of the bathroom and was ready to leave. We locked eyes, I was in disbelief and HORRIFIED at what I saw, and I quickly left. Whatever he was doing– his hand was simply TOOCLOSETOHISFACE for my comfort or food safety. I agree with many reviews, I don’t know how they stay in business. Too be fair, a large base of their clientele is extremely elderly Asian people. I do not want small or big businesses to go under, but providing unappetizing sub-par food in an unsanitary environment benefits no one. Some will make the argument that we shouldn’t expect much considering it’s only $ 10.99 for lunch. This is the ONETIME I will agree that I WOULDRATHERPAYMOREMONEY for BETTERFOOD than eat at this NIGHTMARE of an ESTABLISHMENT. I do not recommend this location to ANYONE until they address ALLOFTHEIRPROBLEMS. I can not and will not justify coming back here when I live down the street from Grand Buffet and Chino Buffet in Pomona and Chino Hills respectively which offer VERYSIMILAR food without the nose picking.

EEK! ISRIGHT! thought we’d give this place a shot since it changed from Westcoast Seafood Buffet to Saka… but what a mistake! came for the $ 10 lunch buffet,… let me just say everything was GREASY… things that were cooked were OVERCOOKED. & things that were raw were NOTFRESH… the sushi chefs were slow at replenishing the rolls!.. desserts were STALE… salads wilted I think one thing i liked might have been the steamed buns. but that’s it AVOIDLIKETHEPLAGUE. im surprised i didn’t walk away with food poisoning
