I had a business lunch here a couple of weeks ago and have got to say I left pleasantly surprised. I felt like I was in a family members kitchen, you see the food preparation being done, literally seated just outside of an open kitchen. Food was plentiful, varied and delicious. The best of what Italian food is, not the least bit pretentious, warmly approachable and absolutely delicious… bravo. They’ve got a new fan in me. Oh, and the family running the place are wonderful, salt of the earth people.

Quality and value and authentic, sincerely friendly, hospitable people. Unparalleled quality. I don’t know how I have lived in the area for so long and not visited this place, but such is the case. Unlimited homemade Italian food made fresh daily, fish on Wednesdays and Fridays, 15 dollars, BYO. Buffet starts at 11AM and goes until they run out. Absolutely THE best food I have had in a long time! Anyone rating this less than 5 stars for the cost/value is not worthy of «Elite 15» status, whatever that means.

When I walked into this store/restaurant I was immediately struck by the smell that wafted over me. This store smells just like my grandmother’s house. The food was authentic Italian and out of this world. Everything in the place is homemade by Italian woman from Italy! The buffet selections were varied and yummy and you can go up as many times as you want. There were too many dishes offered for me to sample every possible selection but what I did taste was amazing. I think the food is worth every penny we paid for it and I considered the price of the buffet low for the amount, and high quality, of the food offered. Go hungry and you will get your money’s worth. The staff is also friendly and welcoming and made me feel like I was part of their family. I highly recommend this restaurant. Leave your appetite at Martino’s but take a homemade cannoli for the road. You won’t be disappointed.

Let me get this out of the way the food is fantastic. The staff is over the top friendly, Mamma is the best! I used to work on Arthur Ave in the Bronx for many years and this place is right up there with any place you can name, Domenicks, Tino’s, Pasquale’s…Martino’s is in the same league. The interior is picnic tables and you should not expect fine dining, what you should expect is one of the best Italian meals you have had in your life at an incredibly reasonable price, served by a staff that is friendly. This place is a must visit…

Great people that make you feel right at home. Everything is homemade and wonderful. I recently brought a buddy from Pittsburgh here and he said it was the best food he ever had.

There is no place like Martino’s. I see that a few people rated Martino’s with 3&4 stars strictly because of the price being $ 15 p/p for a buffet lunch. I’ll say one thing and that’s «you get what you pay for». Everything in the place is homemade. It isn’t only the food that’s homemade but also the desserts. From the cannoli shells to the filling, cookies, and cream puffs. All good stuff. If you had to pay real prices for the quality and quantity you’ll stuff yourself with here you’d be paying in upwards of $ 30-$ 40, so consider it that you’re eating for ½ price. Go on Thursday and get the homemade sausage and pepperoni breads. They’re to die for!!! The sausage bread is more like a sausage meatloaf wrapped in a thin bread. I’ll post a picture of that here. As far as the ambiance, who needs ambiance for what it is. Martino’s Grocery. It’s not Martino’s on the Green so don’t expect that. What you should expect is the welcoming you receive from the Martino family. Pappa(Vincenzo) Martino is over 80yrs. old and works everyday with a smile and just wants to see everyone enjoying their eats. Couldn’t meet a nicer bunch of people. Whether it’s your 1st time there or 100th time there you will feel welcomed like family. If I could rate them 10 Stars I would.

I’m from Brooklyn, and this place is worth driving across the GWB for in rush hour traffic. If it’s lunch or dinner time, and i’m ANYWHERE in North Jersey, then I am stopping here. It’s an experience, hands down. All the charm of my grandmother’s basement during a family celebration, with the warmth and hospitality that any loving family chef would provide with the food to match. After filling your stomach with an endless selection of family style italian delights, take home some hand filled cannolis to proudly give your jealous friends a small peek of what they missed.

I travel to Hackensack twice a year and always make my pilgrimage to Martino’s for Lunch. In a wonderful family setting, the food is outstanding and their warm hospitality Is unequaled… Their lightly breaded fried eggplant, Italian sausage w/a tomato sauce, Pasta w/garlic and prosciutto, chicken/onions & potatoes… topped off with Canolli and a cup of expression… I successfully took some to South Carolina with me… YUM!

A friend told me about Martino’s Market & we went there yesterday… It was DELICIOUS !!! I thought I was in my grandma’s kitchen when I tasted the meatballs. The eggplant parm. was one of the best I’ve had. I asked where do they buy the sausage from… cause it was the best I ever had…& she grinned at me and said«I make my own sausage here. «Super tender and great flavor. They bake all kinds of stuffed breads also. Worth every penny for all u can eat.

I am giving this place 5 stars because for what it is, it’s excellent. Not the best looking place, but the food is excellent and for a $ 12 all you can eat Italian buffet made by mom and grandma, you can’t beat it. Go spend $ 10 at a Chinese buffet with god only knows who’s cooking in the back. Here you have the cooks right out in front of you, a very nice Italian family, who are always welcoming and gracious. Even though this place is at least a 20 minutes drive from where I work, I go there at least once a week.

Don’t get me wrong, the lunch buffett is quite delicious. But at $ 15/person, you can have a very good lunch elsewhere with better ambience.

This is a fascinating place. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary, run-of-the-mill corner grocery store that specializes in Italian products. If you walk into the back area during lunch, it’s like stepping into someone’s Italian kitchen. During lunch, Martino’s has an incredible buffet of Italian home cooking. The time I went, the selection included five different types of pasta, sausage, meatballs, and two chicken dishes. The food is incredible, but the only reason I don’t give Martino’s five stars is because at $ 10-$ 11 for a lunch buffet, it’s not exactly cheap.
