Yeah, this place gets all the stars. Stars for the prices. Stars for the inventory.(you can get almost anything in this place) Stars for the music. Stars for the food. Stars for Mikey. If you shop here, you know Mikey. All the stars.

The main draw of Simple Simons is the fact that it’s open later than other stores in the area. A lot of places don’t stay open after ten o’clock so this is one of your very limited options. If you are reading this on Unilocal you gathered that from other reviews I assume. So I digress on that aspect. They do have deli sandwiches up until a certain hour. Never tried them so I can’t say if they are good or not. So if you’re hungry you have that or some basic snacks or groceries to choose from. The one thing I never liked about this place is the pricing. You will get gouged pretty good here and they justify it by staying open later. Supply and demand is a bitch! Over 2 dollars for tall boys is a little ridiculous if you ask me. Even the lowest of the barrel beers like nasty Natty Ice can be above average price wise. This goes for just about everything else in the place as well. I only come here if it’s late or on holidays when the better options which are more inexpensive aren’t open. Oh and the parking lot is a cramped as all hell. I try to avoid it by parking elsewhere. Their is another parking lot nearby that has Simon Pizza and Deli(which may be worth the check out if open). Needless to say I bet you many a drunken fool have backed up into to each other in that munchkin lot. Avoid messing up your car and park somewhere else. Even if you have to walk a little further it’s worth it. So I come here if other options are exhausted. This place takes it a little too far with the overpricing for my taste. Good for late night but that’s about it.

Gives you everything you need for a late night snack(including a decent wine selection) or a quick breakfast on the run. Parking is better now that they closed the bank behind it. I like it.

Ok at best. Parking can be a real pain in the ass at times but they make decent sandwiches and have your typical deli things

Decent. Decent liquor store. Decent breakfast sandwiches. Decent coffee. The parking lot can suck at peak hours, and if you get stuck on line behind hospital workers from across the street buying cigarettes(ironic??) and lottery tickets, you may be there for a while.

This is a decent convenience store. Living in Jersey, there’s some things that we’re deprived of, mainly purchasing liquor outside of liquor stores. In many states, you can purchase alcohol at CVS. Imagine that! What makes Simple Simon good are their sandwiches and the convenience of staying open til 2am everyday. They’re also located a block from Hackensack Hospital and steps from a bus stop. Convenient above all else…

Lately, I’ve been going out of my way to pick up their $ 2.50 breakfast special(Egg & Bacon/Sausage sandwich + small coffee) before coming to work. That’s right; $ 2.50. Ok, $ 2.65 including tax. But still, pretty good value. Try to find that in the city. They also have a decent inventory of wine for sale.

Simple Simon prices have never been as simple as you’d want them to be. Granted, I haven’t lived in the state for 14 yrs. but I used to live down the hill from this place and I used to love to get a sub sandwich and chips from here… but it was neva cheap! The good thing about Simple Simon was that it was the only store around that stayed open late too. And… when Essex Street Liquor Store, Formerly Lehigh Liquors, closed… you saw the neighborhood drinkers flock to this place!
