Went here since I bought a groupon. My mom had purchase another groupon so it was four of us. Told the waiter at the beginning that we had two different groupons and she said it’s only one for table so we agreed to seat in different tables. At the end she sat us down in one table. Waiter come 4 minutes after and says that we cannot use the two groupons since she can’t split the check on one table. So we said okay, we seat in different tables. She says no! We cannot do that because we are losing money. We explained we had two different groupons and she said no we cannot do that. If you want I can bring the owner, we said no it’s fine. We got up and left. What kind of service is this!!! If they were worry about loosing money why would they put it on groupon??? That doesn’t make sense!!! So what if we four didn’t know each other and we all had groupons? The waiter is going to tell the people ohhh sorry, you cannot use the groupon because one person already used it??? Wth! come on! I’m calling groupon right now so they give me back my money! With a service like that THEYAREGONGTOLOSEMONEY!

Thanks to Groupon we landed at The Green Olive for a last minute dinner at a new place! Loved the ambiance of the restaurant; very simple, warm, not super crowded, and nice music playing in the background. Our waitress Katie K was great! Very attentive with a good attitude. We started off with the stuffed artichoke– WOW! Highly recommend! For our entrees we had the sole florentine(two stuffed filets with a baked potato) and the baby-back ribs which fell right off the bone. The portions were filling and the prices were very acceptable. Both were delicious. We will definitely be back and we’ll probably even bring some friends next time :)

Good food, good service, great location if you’re in Hackensack, Rochelle Park or Maywood. Nice alternative to the often crowded Outback Steakhouse and kinda noisy Twin Door Tavern. I’m happy it’s there and have always enjoyed the meals!

My boyfriend’s shrimp scampi was so tough, the cook put it in the microwave. I had pork that was too tough. Terrible never go there again

I would give this place 4 stars for food and 2 for service. My husband and I have been here four or five times, each time we sat at the bar. Every food item we ordered has been awesome, possibly the best burgers we ever had. The service on the other hand has been very disappointing. Although the bartenders are friendly they are extremely inattentive. They are more interested in their cell phones or their customers that are friends than the general customer. We are walking distance from the restaurant so we want to continue to eat there, but when I recommend it to my husband I follow up with«remember, we will probably have bad service»

Tasty Italian food. A restaurant coupon made it real good. This place was recommended by a friend.

Lets start by saying one of the worst places I have been. It’s Saturday night around 8 and the place has three tables sitting Polite waiter takes drink order and the food runner brings bread and some green olives in oil and that was the best thing we waiter ask for our order my wife ask for mussels and waiter says we don’t have any because they are still frozen this was a regular menu item also I order the stuffed artichoke it comes out and it isn’t really stuffed but topped with bread crumbs and it was under cooked so he come to take our dinner order and my wife orders the pulled pork sliders the waiter tells her they don’t have that either so we ask for check and waiter looks angry and proceeds to tell(manager/owner)don’t know if he was either but he just shrugs shoulders and says oh well. We left and will never go back also half the menu items listed online are not on the menu

Went back again this week and inhaled the pecan-crusted salmon. Great new IPAs on tap. Good background tunes, pleasant lighting and a likable server.

I give the Green Olive top marks for being a top notch neighborhood restaurant. Don’t expect Michelin Guide-level food, but for a little local storefront this place punches well above it’s weight. All 5 of us loved our meals, but the in-house smoked baby back ribs were amazingly meaty and smokey, worthy of a specialty barbecue. Restaurant. Also, the stuffed artichoke was a gem, worthy of my Italian grandmother. The ambience was extremely friendly. The bar was populated with people ranging from mid-20’s to late ’70’s, clearly mutual strangers who nonetheless ended up chatting with each other(and the bartender) in lively conversation. We will definitely come back!

Went here last night for dinner with a voucher…thought it might be geriatric heaven based on how quiet it was! It had great ambiance and the fall decorations were super cute. We were greeted by a very friendly, fun waiter who gave us the cozy table we wanted in the corner and turned the music on at our request :) We were brought some bruschetta and were told we would receive bread but it never came… no big deal. We had the pulled pork sliders for an appetizer and they were great! I had the rigatoni and my friend had the salmon which were both very good. The mashed potatoes did taste a little box-ish. We had 2 vodka and cranberries and fun waiter brought us a round on him :) There was no toilet paper in the ladies room :( Nice, intimate, cute spot to get some good drinks and tasty food…

My wife and I had dinner at The Green Olive Thursday night for the first time. The food and service were great, and the room very attractive. Cool modern music plays in the background. Will return soon.

We’ve been to the green Olive at least 5 times this year. Good service, good food. Don’t really have any complaints. We love the Calamari.

Eh — all i can say. It had been a few years since we’ve been here and this place has been through several décor and image redos so my husband & I decided to give it a try. I guess the food was ok-ish. They should skip the complimentary bruschetta as it tasted like it was fresh out of a jar. The olives were ok but the plate was«decorated» with tacky individually wrapped butter. We ordered a Caesar salad, it came out with bottled dressing and it reminded me of something you would get in an elementary school cafeteria. I ordered the skirt steak, it was served on a sizzling platter but without a side plate so within a few minutes, my meat was overcooked. My husband had a way overpriced filet mignon that was raw in the middle(he ordered medium.) I did enjoy the onions on top of the steak — one thing that was done right, in my opinion. Our waitress asked how our food was and before we could answer, said, «Delicious.» yeah, not so much. The bottom line is that this place wants to play in the fine dining space and doesn’t have the food or the service to back it up. Our bill for 2 people was over $ 80 and while we weren’t necessarily focused on a cheap meal, this was disappointing and we left feeling like for this amount of money, we could have had a much better experience somewhere else.

It is quite saddening that some people below are saying this place is good. If you are one of them, then you clearly you have never enjoyed good, quality food and I feel very sorry for you. I tried this restaurant only because I had to use a coupon and there aren’t many options there. I figured since the reviews aren’t terrible, how bad can it be? Bad…really bad. The complimentary bread was not good. The calamari with diablo sauce tasted like frozen calamari… the sauce was watered down marina. Very disappointed. Next, crab cakes… AWFUL. It was all filling with like 1⁄6 crab. Really? How dare you serve a customer all filling? I wanted crab cakes, not flour and breading. Gross. Finally, since we were very disappointed with everything, we didn’t want to risk getting a nice entrée, we ordered a Margherita pizza… How hard can that be? It was not tasty, lacked flavor. The waiters were coming to our table every 30 seconds. It was quite annoying. The place has an old, musty smell, which you will notice the second you walk in. It took a while to get used to that smell. I would suggest deep cleaning those rugs and washing all of your table clothes. If you want excellent Italian food just around the corner, I would suggest Sanducci’s. They are BYOB so you can bring a bottle of wine and enjoy quality Italian. Ohh and finally, be careful… they add 18% to your bill automatically, which we unfortunately did not notice and gave them an extra 20% tip. I consider that extremely scummy to do this to your customers, especially for a party of 2. Really? I guess they expect people to not want to leave tip after the food and service at this place. Don’t go if you like quality, fresh food.

Not very impressed with the food preparation. It may sound great on the menu but when it comes out of the kitchen, not quite what I expected. When an appetizer says sausage and spinach I assumed the sausage would be sliced, but instead it was overcooked on the outside and sitting on my plate as a full sausage link. When my bf and I ate here years ago for one of our first dates we loved it. Since then we’ve been here at least 3 more times but now we’ve moved on.

Found this place accidentally and decided to give it a try. It is in an unassuming place next to a laundry mat and a papa johns but the inside is pleasantly cozy and welcoming. We ordered the seafood salad, clams on the half shell and French onion soup to start. It accompanied complimentary olives and brushetta, everything was delicious. For dinner he opted for the skirt steak and I the salmon. We were both very happy with choices but ate so much that dessert was just not feasible. All in all, will visit again.

Buttery skirt steak adorned with crispy onions, creamy risotto, mountains of well-cooked shellfish… tough to argue with that! Free bruschetta, green olives and a bread basket started our meal. I was taken aback by the lovely décor in earthy tones with(of course) lots of green and wood. On this Tuesday night, we were one of only 2 tables, but we were appropriately seated in an alcove far away from the busy upscale bar area. I had perused the menu and reviews before we went, and was really looking forward to the lamb shank served with wild mushroom risotto. So, I ordered it once the waiter(finally) came to the table… «no lamb shank» was the response. Damn! The skirt steak I ordered to replace the lamb was wonderful. And HUGE. It had been marinated or cooked in a garlic butter of some sort that was fabulous. It was cooked perfectly, although I thought the frizzled onions on top lacked flavor. The garlic fries that came with it were gorgeous steak fries with an odd, thin garlicky gravy/sauce on top… not bad, but I think the fries would have been better without it. Wild mushroom risotto on the side(I had to!) was pretty good. I enjoyed it quite a bit, although I’m not sure you can classify button mushrooms as «wild.» My boyfriend had a whole lot of seafood. I think that was the name of it. He really enjoyed most of it, although one of the types of seafood was overcooked. Although we ordered no appetizers, we had FOUR takeout containers. I thoroughly enjoyed the leftover risotto for lunch, and the steak was fabulous for 2 more dinners! Like the other reviewers mentioned, don’t come here if you’re in a rush. But certainly give it a try!
