Very nice gym, but as a member for close to 10 years $ 46 is just too much per month. I tried numerous times to reduce my rate but can’t justify paying $ 130 dollars to do so on top of a $ 30 annual fee. Especially as a new member can walk in on a promo and pay $ 20.16 for enrollment and $ 30 per month on a contract. It’s a shame the club doesn’t try to keep loyal customers.

Don’t get me wrong, Gold’s gym is a club, not your average gym. and has a reputation that«it’s where the rich people go»(Even though I saw many different crowd’s of members. Has an abundance of equipment, sweet staff, and really informative/amazing trainers. There is a lady’s golds room, large locker room with showers. Free lockers if you have a lock! Huge free weight selection, a shake bar(my favorite) recommend the Elvis shake, a day care, full sized basketball court, a cardio cinema room, a cycling room, and a huge room with mats and miscellaneous equipment. The rooms hold a variety of different great work out classes all included in your membership as well.. Two things I wasn’t a huge fan of, I paid a full year amount in full and still had to pay $ 100+ start up fee which was odd to me, but with everything Gold’s had to offer, it seemed worth it. But this past late December(2014)weeks after my year expired and I was no longer a member, gold’s sent me the 12 days of Gold’s gym passes that you could give to guests to work out with. I thought maybe it was an invitation for me also,(maybe as a sale’s incentive to have me sign up again and a way to gain new members) so me and a friend could use them. After I got to the gym, I learned I couldn’t use them but only my guests could. Obviously, I misunderstood but I didn’t see anything on the pass that clarified that. Since, I no longer work in Hackettstown and live 20 minutes a way, that’s why I didn’t renew my membership. But they do have a lot to offer.

I have been a member of Golds gym for three years. Recently I have had a problem with the owner and District Manager. In December, I had left my jacket in their locker room, called and they put it on hold for me. When I went in to get my jacket it was no longer there. The District manager or Owner has not contacted me at all since then, even though I have left multiple messages. The district manager said they would look at the video tapes, and after asking another employee if they had looked at them yet, she said she honestly doesn’t think they did. I also called and emailed the franchiser company for Golds, and they have not contacted me either. I have recently moved as well, 25 miles away from the gym and i have to pay $ 90 to cancel my membership and it takes 60DAYS to cancel it and I have to pay for the two months that I am waiting for it to be canceled. Do not waste your money here. You will get screwed over.

Although we live in DC, we’re visiting my family in Hackettstown often enough that we’ve actually worked out at this gym on many occasions over the years. Home for an extended Christmas vacation this year, we were finally able to sign up for a week’s membership, which has been a godsend to be able to work out daily and also enjoy the eatfest over Christmas/New Year’s. The staff were very helpful and friendly in working out our deal. This is a decent gym that I would definitely join if we ever moved back to Hackettstown. Paying $ 88/month as we do now in DC, the price for Gold’s seems like a bargain at just $ 50/month! They’ve got excellent equipment although they could use more than one of certain pieces since there’s so much space. Then again, why make the workout area overly crowded? They’ve got cardio equipment galore, including a few old school stair masters to really get your butt in shape. And I really like the cardio theater to watch a bad movie and take my mind off the tedium that cardio can sometimes be. They should, however, post the class schedules outside the various studios to make it easier to find the right class while at the gym and not just online. I’m sorry our membership will end soon as I don’t look forward to paying the $ 15 the next time we’re visiting, but I definitely know I’ll be back.

Moved more that 25 miles away from Gold’s. Per what I thought was the agreement, it would be fairly easy to cancel. It its now going on 4 weeks of dealing with their outsourced billing company to cancel. This has been the most difficult part of my move, their billing company requires more points of move than the DMV! Now they are charging me for the next two months even though I have been trying to cancel since April. Do not go to a gym with outsourced billing, can not get anyone to give you answers/take responsibilty. Riverside does billing inhouse. I will never join any Gold’s gym after this experience.

This is by far the worst gym I have ever belonged to. My biggest pet peeve is that the machines are located right next to the sales booths. So, as you are working out, you are getting oogled by everybody comming in to sign up. The year long contracts are a rip off. I paid $ 46 a month after paying a sign up fee. REALLY? this is a rip off. As Big E.A. says, other places are $ 10 a month and offer just as much. Infact, I joined the other place and enjoy it much more.

This is by far the worst gym I’ve ever belonged to. No one ever puts their weights away, the locker rooms are filthy, they are very limited on equipment. They only have 1 smith machine. No comparison to a signature fitness. Cardio equipment is always broken and its like $ 50 a month. I’d rather join a planet fitness for $ 10 they have just as much.

Ah! I can’t believe, with all its members, there is no review here yet for Gold’s Gym. It’s relatively large, with a «cardio theater» that shows movies, a Ladies’ Gold Gym(a few cardio machines and a few weight machines, just for the ladies), a Group Exercise classroom, a Spinning Room, a Basketball Court, a childcare center, a yoga/pilates room, and a huge gym floor full of cardio machines and weight machines. The machines are well-maintained, as is the rest of the space. The locker room and floor tends to be very clean. I love the trainers. They’re all very sweet, and group exercise classes are so, so fun. The worst part is that the guest rate(and student rate for the summer months) is prohibitively expensive — $ 15 just to stop in for one day? $ 80 a month because I’m only joining for the summer(I go to school elsewhere)? A little ridiculous. But if I lived around here and could pay the lower monthly rate, I’d definitely be here every day!
