First of all, best Chinese take out in Hackettstown area as far as taste. I only drop one star because they mess the orders up kind of often. So I’d recommend you double check when you get your food. If there is a mistake they are always quick and friendly about fixing it.

I am a server, so I hate writing bad reviews, so I will try to keep this as nice as possible. I ordered online and came in 30-minutes later to see a ton of people waiting. I paid for my food and waited another 15-mins, maybe the kitchen was slow that that, I don’t care, I just wanted some food after a long day of classes and work. Soon I heard LOUD bickering and the lady at the counter joined in. I don’t know what they were saying, but they were all mad at each other. After many people getting their food and being offered free drinks, I was not. That was not a bother, but I little insulting. I left and walked five-minutes down the road to my apartment and found part of my order was missing. I called and ran back to pick up the remaining food. The dumpling were terrible. The rice, lo-main, and tofu was actually REALLY good. Food was worth it, kinda. Service was bad, but no one gets takeout for a quality experience. The place was filthy so it’s scary to think how un-sanitary the food is. 45 mins of being full. I know I’ve had worse experiences. I am willing to try this place again.

Minimum delivery charge is $ 20 so I ordered lunch AND dinner. Delivery was fast, maybe 25 minutes from 6 miles away. General Tso’s chicken: decent. Not the crispy kind. Orange tangy sauce vs red sauce. I ordered extra spicy and it was fine. Opted for white meat for $ 1 extra, still better than chunk meat I also ordered cold sesame noodles with peanut sauce, fried dumplings and crab Rangoon. All were average. Not bad though. Like others have said, it’s your average Chinese take out. Delivery guy was friendly. Here’s some Screen shots of the menu

My trip there on 6÷29÷15 counts as two trips: First & Last… and, one star, only because 0 or fractions of stars aren’t allowed… First of all… I have NEVER gone into a Chinese restaurant where the standard reply isn’t «10 minutes» when you place your order… until last week. And, no… this was NOT a complicated order… 2 pints of soup, one steamed dinner & one combination dinner… seriously, nothing difficult, nothing special…20 minutes after inquiring where my order is, they’ve not even started on it. I get told«5 minutes». Well… it was FORTY minutes before I FINALLY left with my food. C’mon… seriously? Who waits that long for take out Chinese? And, had I not paid at the time that I ordered, I would have left after learning upon my first inquiry that they’d not even begun it. So… the food… NOT worth a 40 minute wait, that’s for certain. The soups were… at best, average. My spouse’s beef & broccoli was the grayest, saddest looking excuse for a dinner I’ve ever seen… and the over the top salty brown sauce it came with… well, good thing it was on the side! The shrimp & lobster sauce combo… thinnest sauce I’ve ever seen, half a dozen medium/small shrimp(where most places break out the big ones). The fried rice was nearly flavorless and the included eggroll was so greasy that one bite relegated it to the trash. The restaurant itself leaves much to be desired as well… dingy, not well lit… a crapload of inventory in the gloomy dining area(cases upon cases of various sodas), freezers, refrigerators… oh, and three or four unlit fish tanks to really add nothing to the atmosphere… other than to give you somewhere to focus other than the dirt. Next time… when Hong Kong Kitchen is closed… I’ll not seek out another Chinese place… I’ll go for something else entirely before I’ll ever pay for another experience like this again!

I’ve ordered twice for delivery from this place. The food is surprisingly good. The General Tso’s chicken was great, the egg drop soup and hot & sour soup were great too. They also give a free two liter soda with $ 30+ order which is nice.

Pretty standard, run-of-the-mill take out place, the kind you can find in every town up and down the East Coast. They run a fast, clean kitchen(although the rest of the store is a little dingy), and as long as you’re not looking for«authentic» Chinese cuisine, you won’t be disappointed. This is very«American» Chinese fare. Highlights include their variety of «General Tso’s» dishes(classic chicken, but also shrimp, tofu and others) which they will indeed make spicy if you ask for it, Boneless Spare Ribs, and probably my go-to personal favorite: Crab Rangoon. It comes with a sweet and sour sauce which imo puts it over the top against other Crab Rangoons I’ve had.
