BUYERBEWARE: My mom found an über cool pony doctor style bag at Pure Couture. Upon opening it Christmas morning I noticed a strap on the bag was broken and the leather had split and cracked. My mom did not see this, nor was it pointed out by the salesperson. We decided to take it to a reputable shoe repair. After going to two different shoe repair businesses we were told by both it couldn’t be repaired. We decided to return to Pure Couture to express our disappointment in feeling a bit duped and that the damage was not divulged to us. My mom bought the bag without the expectation that she would have to invest money to repair it. I work in retail and know business ethics, as should anyone in the retail industry or a business owner. The owner of Pure Couture did not once look us in the eye, which is an indication of lying, failed to even acknowledge our presence and even what we were expressing. We had suggested maybe we could receive a price adjustment due to the fact that we were sold a damaged article, she quickly diverted from that and would interject with suggested shoe repairs in north jersey we should try contacting. She mentioned that the pony bag was actually on hold for another customer at the time my mom purchased it… why would you sell it then? Nothing in the store has a price on it, which allows her to size you up prior to stating the price. The purse is still listed on eBay and Facebook, even though it has been purchased. On both sites the pictures of the purse do not include the damaged handle or even details in regards to the purse containing damage. Lastly the owner had a side kick in the store who would interject and state her opinion or ask her own questions during our conversation which allowed for the owner to put us and our issue on hold. While she did give us the option to return the purse for store credit we were uncomfortable with what value she would place on something we were interested in. She just didn’t convey trust to us, which we believe is critical when buying vintage goods. In conclusion, buyers beware.
