Things here cost more than they did new!!! Used cast iron pans for $ 25? Used light Liz Clairborne jacket for $ 35? It doesn’t make any sense. Also the staff is horrendous. They don’t have any concept of customer service.

Manager was horrible. I bought a silver tea set. I was cleaning it and when I got to the bottom I took off a layer of filth and it said that it had lead in it. I tried to return it and the manager gave me attitude and then did not even know what lead was. Who doesnt know what lead is? She had no idea it was dangerous. The other workers were really kind but this manager was an embarrassment to mankind. She then offered to take it off our hands and resell it to the next family. I refused to give it to her because I did not want the Salvation Army to sell lead to families especially with small children.

I loved this store because of the volume of everything! obviously lots of crap to go through but real gems as well. I was visiting Amherst and North Hampton for Christmas when I drove past this store. I went in, loved it so much that I went again before my vacation ended!

I am a Sally’s regular. Some days I’m in 100% Sally clothes. The store is huge and it’s not perfect, but it’s full of high quality clothe. Yes, u have to sift thru some junque too. Wednesdays are half price, so sometimes it’s crowded. A sure stop.

I came looking for an ugly Christmas sweater. There were none left. So, since it was my first time at Salvation Army, I checked out the whole store. Not for me. Dirty, smelly clothing with even used underwear for sale. Won’t be back.

You have to come here before the colleges get packed up with undergrads. I moved here in the first week of August and actually was able to find a full couch that was not dirty, a nice looking wooden cabinet for my television and DVD’s, a wrought iron piano seat and seat cushion, and a few other random nicknacks, all under $ 80. I’m not a hardcore thrifter, but my couple trips to this place were pretty decent. It’s not as big as some Salvi’s are(not walmart-sized). But I’d say it’s worth a trip to just check it out, because sometimes they have good stuff.

I love thrifting, but i was a little disappointed with this store. The glassware section is pretty crappy, the clothes are also not very good. BUT if you are looking for books, this place is actually pretty good. The selection is not very large, but the quality is there. I have been here twice and walked away with a few books each time and books that are actually good, not the run of the mill thrift store books.

Overpriced, lots of damaged clothes. Not worth the trip at all. Very disappointing. Also, the smell in the store was insufferably musty for someone with allergies.

This Salvation Army took my poor mother’s money for a piece of furniture and then sold it to someone else. They would not refund her money. They had her sign a contract she said she couldn’t read because of her glasses being broken, not knowing it said you have only 24 hrs to pick up furniture. They would not refund the money and were belligerent. What poor management, and how inhumane.

It is a big store with a good selection. It is def hit or miss though. The lighting in the dressing rooms leaves much to be desired but for the price you cannot beat it.

The selection here leaves me wanting more. But I have picked up some cute items nonetheless.

Recommendation: If you’re a legit thrifter who is looking to find some gems, I suggest avoiding this place the entire month of October. Since this is the only major thrift store in the 5-college area, you’ll have to deal with a bunch of bro-dudes looking for Halloween costumes. Gross. Oh wow, you’re a guy in a dress? THAT’S SOFUNNY — I’VENEVERSEENTHATBEFORE. I made this mistake of entering Salvi’s one October afternoon, and some dude came up to me and asked me if his purple sports jacket was«fly» for a costume party. I challenged him to a fight for the jacket [for it was indeed, FLY], but I guess he thought that I was joking. Personally, I just don’t see what’s so costume-y about wearing a purple jacket, but maybe that’s why I was never invited to the Halloween parties on fraternity row [boo]. So basically, during the month of October, the patronage to Salvation Army will increase three-fold, thus less likely to find something awesome, especially since«retro» is a popular costume. However, during the rest of the year, this Salvi’s isn’t a location where I’ve had a significant amount of finds — it’s about average on the general thrift store scale [i.e. prices and selection]. It’s worth checking every once and a while, but I’d rather hold my breath for the longer journey to Savers.
