Excellent food, and good service. Their samosa chat is a great appetizer. Good soups. Great selection of Indian breads. Interesting specialties, like lamb tika masala. Typical Indian desserts. Also, a very good lunch buffet on weekdays.

This place was the worst ever today. Buffet food was old, cold and most likely from a previous day. The chicken and nann was the most horrible we were ever served. I wanted to try a new place, but wy wife likes this place. After todays visit she said we will try a new Indian place, or some where else. This place lost us.

I love the food here. They have a buffet and my only beef with the restaurant and what has kept me from giving it 5 stars is the buffet is sometimes not stocked. The mango lassi is definitely worth trying and they do ask you the spice level you want. I have tried mild medium and hot but not the hottest. Each level was spot on. I will be back again soon.

A small, in a strip mall, dark and dingy restaurant with the standard buffet staples(yawn) Why do the owners place the buffet trays in a 3×3CORNER of the restaurant? Very inefficient for families and awkward trying reach for items. The ambience is dull and unimaginative, at best. Perhaps a rebranding is due. True Indian foodies, plz stay away.

Not authentic at all. A very big disappointment. Environment was nice, server was friendly. Food was horrible. Bland. They definitely forgot the spices that Indian food is known for. Food flavors were also very inconsistent between buffet pan refills. Very few and poor vegetarian choices. They didn’t even have korma. Buffet table was not keeping food warm.

Stay away from this wretched place. This place deserve only negative stars. I got filled by the relatively high ratings on Unilocal. They charged 6 $ for my toddler who didn’t even have a full nan at this place. The number of items on the buffet were just 3. And they charge more than 10 $ for this joke called buffet. Easily one of the worst Indian restaurants in USA

Over priced in comparison to local competitors like the Mango Grill and Haj India.

Just went by for their buffet brunch as we were passing through Hagerstown. I wasn’t expecting much but what a hidden treat. The food is really well spiced, not your typical Indian buffet with no flavor. They brought us an extra helping of naan too which was delicious. Lastly the owners were very courteous with one who came by and chatted, which is always enjoyable. I will definitely go back on another occasion, hopefully for dinner.

What a great place. We were in from out of town and found this gem on Unilocal. It’s great. I am a huge fan of Indian food and have had it coast to coast. This is quite good. The service is great and very friendly. My daughter and I had a wonderful time. I had the lamb vindaloo and it was perfectly spicy at a hot level and I like really hot food. My daughter had a vegetarian dish and loved it. Try this spot you won’t be disappointed.

An unobtrusive but delightful Indian restaurant in a meat and potatoes town. Good food. Reasonable prices. Friendly service. Vegetarian dishes are wonderful.

Decided to stop here on our way back from a trip after reading the reviews. Service was good and the staff were friendly. Prices of items are decent($ 13 for veg $ 11 for nonveg) and the selection isn’t too bad. For food itself, we ordered chicken tikka masala, jhalfrezi, and nonveg platter. Surprisingly, the chicken jhalfrezi was the best item we had. Very flavorful and unique, and the biggest reason for the 3 stars I’m giving. Tikka was bland and average at best, too salty. Platter wasn’t too bad, good selection of items on it, except for the gulab jamun. It was pathetic, very watery soggy and tasteless. The place seems like its non-generic items are prepared well but they lose it on the popular dishes. Not too shabby.

So I just had dinner here and it was delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was awesome. I had the Meat Samosas for my appetizer. Then I had the Chicken Tikka Massala with Chicken stuffed Nan as my main course. I’ve had Indian food a few times and this has been my favorite so far. So if you are in Hagerstown, MD and want some good authentic Indian food I recommend you stop by here to eat. You won’t be disappointed.

I love Indian food and this is an awesome place. I end up always getting the shrimp Briana, extra spicy. My wife always gets the mixed grill and loves it. While it is not a love fest with the staff, that is just how they are! Not a lot of smiles but they do a good job serving. Just a side note, during the winter, don’t sit near the front of the restaurant, the draft every time the door opens is a bit much! Have not done the lunch buffet, I have never had a good Indian lunch buffet anywhere, as the food generally is very bland to please the average person, so I can’t comment on their lunch buffet. You know you are eating ethnic food when you dine here. We go 6 – 10 times a year.

Lunch buffet worth checking out. Attentive staff, decent price, $ 10.99, excellent dishes, weekend lunch buffet. Goat curry, channa chick peas, and vegetable pakora were standouts. Good amount of spice in the dishes, well seasoned, and good variety. Would visit again when I’m in the area.

My FAVORITE restaurant in Hagerstown. Super nice staff. Fresh and perfectly seasoned food. My husband and I get the same thing every time: the vegitarian thali, non-vegetarian thali, and a basket of assorted nan. Best Indian food I’ve had, and love that we get to interact with the owners almost every visit at the counter or serving. Their chutneys and yogurt sauce are delicious as well. If you want fresh authentic food, look no further.

My daughters & I love to come to Sitar for their weekend buffet. It’s the best way to sample all of their wonderful dishes. The staff is very kind, the food is delicious & the atmosphere is very relaxed! We always start our meal by ordering somosa, which are not included in the buffet. We simply love their chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, aloo palak & naan. Very yum!!!

Love love love this place. Our family and friends cannot get enough. I’ve been to several Indian restaurants since moving to the DC area, but none have came close to taking the place of Sitar of India! The only small negative I have: I wish they’d serve more rice for the table instead of charging for more rice lol… a small price to pay hahaha

It has been so long or so it seems since we had authentic Indian curry resteraunt style. This was superb, we have been looking around for a good curry house as we call it. We will be back no doubt about that, the proprietors are so polite and obliging. I only have one con the plates were cold, hot plates to the table are so very important.
