Pangea is a farm to table concept restuarant where special attention is paid to the source of each ingredient. The care and effort put forth shines through in every aspect of their food and cocktail selection. I had 4 outstanding dishes there: Clam chowder: nice meaty hunks of clam and Okinawan sweet potato. Rich and creamy, but not overly sweet from the coconut milk added to the base. Monchong over zucchini pesto pasta: perfectly seared and moist, the Monchong was outstanding. The pasta was made from zucchini, so it was great to have a plant based, paleo alternative to traditional pasta. Brussel sprouts with kale: my favorite dish! The sprouts are halved and baked with pacetta; and yes, pork fat rules. There was a nice balance between the saltiness of the pacetta and sweetness of the balsamic/maple drizzle. Mushroom truffle roll: the roll screams of white truffle flavor! I appreciate the fact that they not only called it a truffle roll, but actually followed through with big truffle flavor. Tropikali tequila cocktail with charcoal salt rim: a winner for any tequila lover. Bottom line, great restaurant and I may be back tonight for a second go at it. I’ve been told the truffle mac n cheese is the beezknees.

Haiku has needed you! What a great little place. Outside seating if you wish, a bar, and stage for dinner music. Maui Blues Band was playing while we enjoyed a beer and a few tapas. Clams were delicious in the wine sauce, truffle sushi was delightful and rich seasoned perfectly and chef Mike came to the table and introduced himself as we nibbled away. Nicole you did a great job ps order the Mac and Cheese… To die for!

I’m so disappointed because I REALLY wanted to like this place! In theory they have it all going on. I love the menu and the concept. in haiku too! The reality was mediocre at best. The good: coconut clam chowder with sweet potatoes was bomb! I would go back just for this… but ONLY this. Some of the staff there(Nicole!) were so friendly, warm, and welcoming. saving graces! The bad: $ 15 for 5 pieces of mushroom sushi(meaning no fish involved) is too much. No mouth explosions, no lives changed. The ugly: the lamb. So sad. 4 tiny pieces of lamb(for $ 30) Served to us undercooked(upside: it was perfectly cooked the second time) with basically raw carrots(meaning they crunched when you bit them) and mustard. That’s it. I’m happy to pay these prices for delicious and exceptional food, but this place hasn’t found its flow yet. I don’t know if they have the time to recover before people head out to other nearby restaurants.

On the way back from Hana, stopped at this fun restaurant in Haiku for a quick bite. Definitely try the whiskey sliders and roasted carrots. Nice outdoor space too. Family friendly

Tried out Pangea the other nite because Nuka was killer busy and we didn’t want to wait — it was around 8:30pm and they were unable to seat us but offered takeout(they close at 9pm). What we got was ok, nothing spectacular — sauteed carrots, a simple salad with goat cheese(2 small dibs of goat cheese), sweet potato chips, kabocha w/kale & spinach, and coconut icecream with a lilikoi glaze. Food was meh, the carrots were«earth to table» with their strings still attached — I liked them but my partner did not; the salad was a bunch of leaves thrown together with 2 dibs of goat cheese and a slice of tomato; the chips were cold and tough; the kabocha w/kale & spinach was weird — the kabocha pieces were pretty rustic cut, some were huge and some were tiny, some were hard and some were overly soft; the icecream and lilikoi glaze were a hit, that glaze dribble was THE tastiest thing we got. The hostess was very friendly but we did not get acknowledged by any other staff. At the time we went for our pick-up there were only 2 tables seated with 2 people at each — there were alot of staff in though. One of the waitresses had their little one there on her heels as she was serving her tables. I’m hopeful that Pangea will work out it’s «new restaurant» kinks and get better even though it’s likely we will not be back cause it’s much better to wait for Nuka to free up a couple of seats instead of being told it was takeout only.
