Rising Sun Solar

Sorry! I have to give these guys one star. I found their sales people to be rude and difficult to work with. After sending them my electric bill, I heard nothing from 2 different salesmen. I’ve called them many times and left many messages over several months. They did not get back to me until I called and asked to speak to the manager. The manager seemed uninterested in how bad his sales staff interfaced with clients. The second salesman took the call when I was trying to reach the manager and was not even apologetic for dropping the ball. He seemed annoyed to even talk to me. I never heard from the first salesman after sending him my electric bill. I would not feel comfortable giving them my money because if I am treated so badly before, I can’t imagine what it would be like once I gave them money.

Company etiquette feels sloppy and unprofessional. Panel installation took seven or more guys in two or three trucks/​vans ALL DAY… Had a radio blaring the entire time with guys playing with a soccer ball in my front yard. They parked extremely inconsiderately and blocked my car in my driveway, as well as my mailbox, and had to call one or two away from working just so I could go to the store… They just parked right back where they were after I left. Didn’t want to deal with them again, so just parked down the street…
After installation, random employees for the company show up several times a month, completely unannounced, for whatever reason. They turn off the power unannounced as well (while I’m in the middle of work on the computer… Thanks.) When they do announce what they’re doing, they barely give enough notice for me to save and safely power down my device. Last time they were here, they turned off the power unannounced and FORGOT to turn the power back on — had to do it myself.
To top it off, panels are not «working properly» or «as intended», so they’ll probably keep coming back… What a pain…
Would not suggest this company to friends or family.

Thank you Rising Sun! You made our family’s experience of installing solar panels painless! You guys are the best! The staff provided excellent customer service and answered all of our questions along the way — even when we asked the same ones more than once! If I had another house (maybe someday), I would do it all again with Rising Sun.

We learned of Rising Sun from a realtor/​friend, Mike Gaertner, who was very pleased with savings he had realized from having solar panels installed on his personal residence. At his suggestion, we contacted Rising Sun, and Todd Karzen, one of their on-​isand consultants, called and made an appointment with us to explain in great detail what solar energy was all about and how it could work for us. This was in March; 2014; it is now December 2014, and suffice to say, we have been VERY satisfied customers since we «went solar» three months ago. Everyone at Rising Sun, from Todd to the installers to the electricians to Melanie Kotter in the office has been friendly, helpful, professional, and responsive. Bottom line is they do what they say they will do WHEN they say they will do it with very little inconvenience to the customer. We could not recommend them more highly.

Panels were installed in a completely different design than what I approved, random «electricians» showing up at my property unannounced and leaving materials with renter… my complaints to customer service went unnoticed as I am still dealing with Rising Sun employees showing up unannounced. No compensation offered for the multiple «snafus». Incredibly long and arduous process to have 12 panels installed. Unprofessional company to say the least.

The best on Maui. They have a vested interest in the viability of renewable energy on Maui and are more than just installers. They use quality components and are an energetic energy firm.
