North Shore Jiu Jitsu Club

The greatest place to learn brazilian jiu jitsu on this island! Black Belt Professor/​owner Mike Fowler, affiliated with Andre Galvao (Atos BJJ) is second to none. Not to mention, Mike Fowler is a world champion and became the 3^rd fastest person to receive his black belt in the US. Very technical in his instruction and fun as well. As equally as he’s able to teach technical adult grappling classes, he does very good with kids as well. The gym is easily located behind the Haleiwa Post Office. Not a very big gym but it has everything you need. It is clean, air conditioned, stylish, and the group of guys and gals that train there are very approachable, respectful, and inviting. Make you feel like family. One things that I really liked and thought was very UNIQUE to this gym compared to others was that after every instruction everyone goes into a formation and bows before the instructor. Then we line up and down the line we all shake hands and bow down in respect to each training partner. This school truly embraces the heart of being a «martial artist.» To be respectful, to have discipline, honor, perseverance, sacrifice and humility. And not just learn how to fight and beat people up. A MUST try!

Mike Fowler is the Coach at North Shore Jiu Jitsu Club. It’s unbelievable being able to train under someone who is so gifted at Jiu jitsu, and who is equally as gifted at teaching all levels of students. It’s an honor to learn the gentle art of Jiu jitsu and Mike Fowler is the such a nice funny person and a fantastic coach. I would recommend the kids classes to any parents looking to get their kids involved in something positive, fun, and valuable for sport besides the traditonal soccer and baseball. Jiu jitsu is great for all ages and all levels of experience. I started Jiu jitsu knowing wrestling or anything like that. I still train as much as possible and I love it every day more and more. I couldn’t say more great things about North Shore Jiu Jitsu Club. For sure 5 stars.
