Greeters laugh and chat among themselves in your face, ignoring the customers. Plenty of open tables yet want you to wait 20 – 30 mins. Asked for $ 8 beer sampler got $ 10 with no explanation why, cut on tips. Toilets are dirty. Sam’s is better.

1 Special Flight– I wasn’t particularly impressed with these beers, aside from the collaboration brew with a guy from Magnolia. 1 Taste of Calf-eine– I was looking forward to tasting this with the hope of taking a bottle for a friend– but it was too«edgy» on my palate for lack of a better word. Was not smooth at all, which is what I’d expect from milk stouts. 1 Fish Stew– A white wine-based garlic sauce supplemented with kick from linguica, this seafood stew was a very solid offering. A good mix of cod, salmon, shrimp, mussels and clams flavored with onions and lemongrass stems. Very tasty. This place really is a 3.5 star spot, but I’ll round up because you can’t beat the location next to the water/docks.

This place was buzzing! Live band, good brew and a very interesting menu, I ordered the grilled artichokes and a couple of amber ales and the evening was set. The band added to the experience and the people were very happy(the sign of a good place) come early and stay late, parking wasn’t a problem cause in rode my bike. #badass

I was visiting my parents in the East Bay from Seattle for the weekend and on a whim decided to head over to Half Moon Bay for lunch. We chose the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company because they said to be dog friendly and I had my 2 year old miniature poodle/terrier mix with me. We were not disappointed! They have a great patio with some views of the water, complete with heat lamps for when the fog rolls in. We were greeted by a friendly staff and seated right away. I think our server was in training, but was very attentive and friendly. Not only did they bring us the«human» menus, they brought us a «dog» menu for my pup. The human menus had a large variety to chose from and we each ordered something different that were delightful. The portions are pretty big so good for sharing or left overs. The dog menu isn’t as extensive, but had a burger, hot dog and chicken jerky, plus their homemade dog bone/treats. I ordered the chicken jerky for my little guy and they were made fresh to order, served warm. The order came with several pieces(too many for my 17 lb dog… though I think he would have ate them all had I let him) and my dog loved them. I ordered the bones/treats too and they came six to a package. I took them to go, but he enjoyed them once we got home. The atmosphere was fun and enjoyable. There were a lot of dogs on the patio, but everyone was very well behaved. I am glad we went and would definitely go back next time I am in town.

Casual, coastal easy breezy dinner. My daughters really love this place. They literally ask me to come here twice a month, around sunset, so they can enjoy patio dining while watching the sun set. Then they have dessert under the outdoor string lights that turn on when it gets dark. I always order the fish tacos and I love their beer. They have a chalk board with what’s available for the day by the inside hostess stand. That board also lists the entrée specials. The menu boasts locally sourced produce and fish. It also offers beer and entrée pairings to make ordering easy. Service is casual and friendly. I love that! Parking has never been a problem. It’s been consistently easy to get a table without a reservation on weeknights. Bring a sun hat, sunscreen, and your doggie to enjoy your meal sitting in the patio area or you can sit inside(sorry no doggies inside). The fried fish tacos and a cold beer while watching the sun set with my two daughters… Life is good!

More than just a brewing company — don’t let the name fool you! Located off the coast near some other eateries, this place is such a gem. Looking to do some outdoor munching and/or drinking? This is what you’re looking for! PARKING: Large, designated parking lot — freeeeeee. SEATING: Indoor seating available, but why not enjoy the sun & good weather(if it is, that is) outside?! There is a large outdoor seating area, great for large groups since they are super accommodating there. They’ll move tables around for your group! A great mix of outdoor seating tables from high tops to regular tables to chairs around a fire pit. FOOD: Fish & chips(a staple), some clam chowder, their MONSTERBURGER(or any other burger — wowza), you can’t go wrong! I must say — if you want to try an amazing appetizer that you’ll devour in a few quick bites, order the CHEESYGARLICBREAD. I don’t know how they do it! The order comes out piping hot and the cheese is ooey-gooey with the bread wonderfully toasted as it melts in your mouth. One bite just wasn’t enough… Oh! And food came out pretty quickly! DRINKS: They have 5 of their own beers! Try them all! If you’re not feeling that, you can order up some of their cocktails, wines, or other liquor drinks. You’re sure to find something you like. SERVICE: A+! Everyone here is super friendly and very attentive. Our server came around every so often to see if we needed more drinks, etc.

1 star for service. 3.5 stars for food. It’s disappointing that management would trust their business with staff that obviously doesn’t care about their work. We sat down and we thought that the server would be great. He was nice and helpful and provided good recommendations. After we ordered our food, it seemed that he just stopped working. No beverage refills until we asked someone else. No check ups. No food delivery, unless by someone else. No check until we asked him but even that took forever. I had to ask for a manager to bring our check. Everything was extremely frustrating. Which sucked cause we really wanted to have a good experience there. Food was good. We had the chowder in a bread bowl. Really tasty. A little small but that’s ok cause we shared another dish as well. The fried sampler dish with fish, prawns and calamari was a really strong and healthy size. The food was really tasty as well. Not bad at all. All in all. Good food, horrible service.

You say you DON’T like waiting an hour for brunch? I don’t either. But that’s exactly what we did here at HMB Brewing Company. We came from a relaxing beach walk to find this place packed to the gills. So we did what the others were doing: put our name on the list, gave the host our number to wait our turn, ordered a cold bevvy and sat outside enjoying the sun. Because, waiting an hour is MUCH more fun with a drink in hand! When you do get seated, you’ll be greeted warmly by your server and offered another refreshing beverage. TAKEIT. It is Sunday, the sun is shining and of course, you wanted a cocktail. The Cool Hand Luke($ 10) had Hendrick’s Gin, cucumber, lemon juice and club soda. I wasn’t hungry(!!!) so we split an entrée of Fish Tacos with the trimmings. Good fried texture of the cod and the chipotle aioli made it super tasty. Waiting for the patio seating vs. inside definitely bumped our brunch experience up a star. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again, but perhaps on a rare weekday off to avoid the long wait.

Momma always says to order great beer and listen to a good woman. The truth is momma never said anything so wise, but that doesn’t take away from the message. Started with the student IPA and the amazing grilled artichoke appetizer. Baja fish tacos and Caesar salad made the wall of fame in my tummy. Do try the strawberry rhubarb beer if they have it on special. Enjoy the pictures

I came during a weekday brunch time so it wasn’t packed which is a plus for me because it was no wait and great food. We ordered the alcoholic peppermint mocha(yum!) and the truffle fries to start and it came out in no time. No disappointment there! While we munched away at those, the fish and chips and clam chowder bread bowl took a while longer. I was full off fries by the time the actual entreé came but both were still amazing dishes. The fish wasn’t fried to death and had big meaty pieces which was soo good. Though I will note that the clams in the chowder had a bit of sand. All in all, still a great meal and if I ever venture out to the area, I am coming back!

Don’t know why this place has 3.5 stars. Deserves 4 or more. Especially given Bay Area Unilocal inflation. Great beers, great food, great service, great prices. This is the quadruple whammy that makes up this place. The fried artichoke hearts were the best fried vegetarian dish I have ever had. These are basically vegetarian fish from the famous dish, fish and chips. The seafood fajitas were delectable and a humongous portion for two. The bread for the bread bowl was delicious. The abbey negative was a fantastic beer. The amber ale was great as well. Come here.

4ozs samples cost $ 2/each. Here is what I thought: Liked: None so far. :/ Just Okay: 1. SHS Pale Ale 2. Table Setter Didn’t Like: 1. Full Swing IPA 2. Pumpkin Harvest Ale 3. Split the Peak Didn’t Try: 1. Kolsch Style Ale 2. Not for Sale Saison 3. Amber Ale 4. IPA 5. Not for Sale Calf-eine The beer is not the best, but it’s in a super fun location and I really like the outdoor patio with the fire pit. I would come back for the location alone.

Somewhat shabby service, decent food, good brew, a great view, and high prices. That pretty much sums it up! As many others have stated in their reviews, 3 hostesses were a bit much, and they weren’t the most helpful when it came to seating options. We ended up sitting outside so we could drink in the view of the sunset over the ocean. They have fire pits that you can sit by and heat lamps outside to keep you warm too. The pork sliders were really good! Tender, saucy, and sweet & savory. Although it’s on the appetizers menu, it comes with a side of fries and can be a meal in itself. The fries were also quite good, fried just the way I like, where it’s crispy but still potato-y! The blackened fish sandwich wasn’t what I was hoping for. The fish used varies and I was offered the snapper. I felt like it was just a tad overcooked, making the fish itself a bit dry. I ended up adding a bit of mayo to make up for the dry fish and lack of enough aioli sauce given. For my brew, I went with the amber ale and was pretty impressed! I’m no beer connoisseur, but amber ales are one of my favorite types and this was certainly one of the better ambers I’ve had.

So I walked in thinking this place was strictly a brewery… I was wrong! HMB Brewing Company definitely emphasizes food first, and if you read the reviews from other Unilocalers it definitely reflects that. The boyfriend and I were seated on the patio facing the water with NOWAITATALL. The outdoor atmosphere was relaxed with plenty of dogs & their owners everywhere, and also quite lively because there was a band playing. +1 for an awesome environment! We ordered their classic flight(comes with an Amber Ale, Saison Farmhouse Ale, Kolsch Style Ale, Coffee Stout, & an IPA for $ 8.00) and their fish & chips basket. The basket came within 10 minutes. THEN our waiter asked us if we’d like a huge plate of buffalo wings on the house. YESAREYOUSERIOUSWE’LLTAKEITGIVEITHEREYESTHANKYOU. Rational thinking is tough when there is free stuff at stake. The fish was flaky and the fries had just the right amount of crunch that I like. The wings were nothing to write home about, but I really can’t complain! Overall, the food, drink, & atmosphere of HMB Brewing Company were ONPOINT. So why not 5 stars? Food is definitely a bit overpriced, and had I not been offered a free appetizer I would not have been nearly as satisfied. HOWEVER, I would definitely return to sit on that patio for another sun soaking & dog ‘miring session. 4 stars!

This was a lively place to pass the day in Half Moon Bay! We came in a group of nine; my friends had dogs so we were on the wait for an outdoor table. It ended up being 20 – 30 minutes(around noon on a Saturday), and they took us around back. This was a little quieter, more cozy, and had live music(a really cute guitarist). It was empty when we were sat, but by the time we left(about 3 hours later) it was decently crowded. It does get chilly there! I was wearing a summer dress and sandals and my feet got really cold. It was nice that in the back patio, we just went up to the bar to order our food. It made a group meal much easier. But they didnt’ serve the full cocktail menu for some reason, so I had to go through the whole restaurant to the bar in the front to order a cocktail. I’m not sure if I really had to do this. when I mentioned this to the bartender at the front, they seemed to think I should’ve been able to get my drink in the back. See my photos in addition to the reviews below for additional details! COCKTAILS * Cool Hand Luke(Hendricks Gin, cucumber & mint w/fresh lemon juice & club soda. $ 9) — 3.5 stars A refreshing, very tall mojito. Good, especially if you’re in the mood for a mojito, ENTREES * Baja Tacos(Wrapped in corn tortillas with housemade salsa, cilantro, and cabbage, topped with chipotle ranch; served with rice, black beans, guacamole, and Texas style spicy cole slaw. $ 17.50) — 3.5 stars The fish is tasty, has really good batter, and it comes in a huge piece. However, this made it very difficult to eat as a taco as the fish was almost twice as large as the tortilla. The rice was a little stale, the beans a little undercooked. SEAFOODSANDWICHES * Dungeness Crab Roll(lightly sautéed in butter & garlic, on a toasted soft roll w/lettuce, tomato & sweet/spicy remoulade sauce, served w/fries or cole slaw. $ 21.95) — 4 stars The crab was pretty fresh & tasty. Lettuce & tomatoes weren’t so fresh. This was a bit too pricey for the quality. I also got to try: Fish n Chips, Sampler platter. Generally their food comes in big servings and is very solid!
