Snap Fitness Half Moon Bay

Place is a joke! Bathroom literally smells like piss and weights are always all over the place!

This is a pretty large gym with various equipment.
It’s close to the house and affordable.
I like the fact they have several ellipticals.
The only cons I have is that a lot of people that go here at night, don’t know how to wipe down the machines when they are done or rack their weights.

I did a 30 day trail, I like that I cam walk to it from home any time. What’s discouraging is that I attempt to contact the gym via email and still, after a week, no reply. I contacted San Mateo gym. Got a response e next day…

I’ve been a member since Snap opened five years ago or so. Sadly, it has steadily gone downhill. Having escalated the issue of filthy machines and an overall lack of cleanliness for the last six months to the Corporate offices in MN to no avail, I am considering canceling my membership. One of the machines looks like it has never been cleaned — imagine five years of accumulated sweat and grime — that’s what it looks like. Members complain about this on a daily basis — yet nothing ever gets done.

After almost a year of membership I’m not sure I will be re-​joining. The aerobic equipment is getting pretty old and out of date. They have 2 newer elliptical machines which are always occupied. I was told when I joined that they would be bringing in additional new equipment but it never happened.
The older elliptical machines are unpleasant to work out on (for me) and the treadmills are very old and out dated. Many have a very had time just starting up. Recently, I have noticed a lack of focus on keeping paper towels and hand sanitizer units filled.
It is a small gym but there is no reason not to keep it up to date and clean.

This gym is not what I expected. I normally go to a SnapFitness in Oregon, but I am here in HMB for a couple months on vacation. This Snap is very dirty, it was hot and humid when I walked inside, the treadmill I ran on is old, outdated and dust was all over the place; on the machines and on the floor. Very disgusting. The only reason I will go back to this Snap I because it is the only one close to my house.

I hate to say this but management is much needed here which is a lack of help and cleaning as well. Dust all over the machines and workouts. Trainers should be here at earlier hours to see what they watch on camera. People dropping weights on the floor is ridiculous and no repair to the dumb bell itself. Take action management.

I do enjoy going to snap. I like that’s your key card will let you in anytime at night. I’ve worked out at 3 a.m. My only complaint is there isn’t any showers. Not a big deal but for a small gym has all the basic needs and at $ 44 a month, not too pricey.

i really like this place… the only thing better would be to have some classes… but other than that A+

Not bad for a smaller gym! Only thing I wish they had is a squat rack (only have the smith machine) and a stepmill (have a stepper).

This is my regular workout place. It’s small and comfortable. There are almost always treadmills available. It’s clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing to get used to is that there are no showers – just little changing rooms. Once you get over that little inconvenience (basically, I work out in the afternoon and then shower at home), you’re all good. Definitely recommend!

This place is great! they have all the basics that you need to get your workout on and a few TVs to keep you busy if your riding the bike or jogging. For 40 somthing bucks a month and its open 24 hours 7 days a week works great for my schedule. On top the fact that if your a member to this snap you are able to visit any other snap. the only downfall that I must say for a guy is a free weight bench press but they do have a smith machine which isnt as great but I can work with it.

Great place to work out! I’ve been to a lot of different gyms and snap is definitely the best. It’s affordable, has more machines than you will need for the most part. They are also great at working with your schedule if you plan to freeze your account to go on vacation. You can also visit any other snap location and your membership covers it. If you want to become a member just call or go on the website to see when the manager is in and stop by. Highly recommended!

SNAP fills a niche that big oversize gyms can’t fit into.
If you want all the features of a big 24-​Hour Fitness gym, then SNAP may not be for you. But don’t hold your breath for a big gym to open in a small community. And even if there were a big gym option in Half Moon Bay… if you are serious about a regular workout, try SNAP.
For those commuting from «over the hill» who work in Half Moon Bay and don’t have a shower available, SNAP is not ideal if you plan to return directly to work after a morning or lunchbreak workouts – unless you really want your coworkers to get to know you better… like how you smell after breaking a sweat.
But…the gym works for me and for local friends and family. We live in the neighborhood and can return home for a shower after a workout. I’ve been a member since they opened. I was so happy to have a good gym in the neighborhood that I knocked on their windows before their grand opening to sign up.
I love the 24 hour availability, even if I rarely (never) take advantage of witching hour workouts. Equipment is adequate and well maintained. Facility is clean. Staff are helpful, friendly, and involved in the community. What’s not to like?
Lately, with the Milano across the parking lot, where It’s Italia used to be, turning into a sloppy sports bar… you get kinda grateful trudging away on the treadmill or elliptical trainer that there is an alternative in Half Moon Bay to standing out in the Stonepine Shopping area with a cigarette in hand and a pitcher of beer on your breath praying you can drive or peddle home without the Sheriff catching you. And if the late evening drama in the parking lot doesn’t entertain… there are a number of flat screen TV’s with an option to tune your portable FM receiver into your headset and tune out the outside world.

Some of the good things about Snap Fitness Half Moon Bay are the same things that are poor…
First off… I sweat like a pig when I work out so I was sort of skeptical about joining a gym with no locker rooms. I live fairly close by on the coast so I decided to give it a try. Not being able to take a shower right after my workout before leaving the gym is a bit of a downer but the fact that they don’t have locker rooms is one of the features that makes Snap able to be ²⁴⁄₇. For me that’s a bigger plus… I have a busy schedule and I like knowing that I can go use my exercise facility any time I want.
I’ve found the equipment at Snap to be well maintained and kept clean. Unlike some other gyms I’ve also found Snap to have a lower occurrence of the douchey patrons. You know what I’m talking about… the guy that grunts way too loud with every lift… the chick who can’t stop checking out her own ass… etc.
Anyway, there are a couple of things I’d change about this place. It seems the layout is backwards. The cardio equipment is up against the windows and the sun beats down on them in the morning. It would seen smarter to have this area against the opposite wall. Better air conditioning or strategically placed fans would also be welcome.

This ²⁴⁄₇ gym is a great facility in Half Moon Bay. It is well maintained, clean, and updated as far as equipment is concerned. For what you pay you get an exceptional deal at $ 45 per month. All of the other gyms in this town close down by 9 pm. The manager, Gabe, was more than helpful and flexible in working with my hectic schedule to insure I was satisfied with my membership.

I am not a member but $ 44 per month seems a bit much for what I see through the window!

I have been a member of this gym for over a year now. It is a great place to work out. The owner Vishal is great. The sales manager Gabe is so friendly and helpful. If you have been wondering if you should join, wonder no more. I highly recommend it.
