I was excited when this place opened until I saw the prices. Almost $ 20 for a box of 6 macarons; $ 3 each! Extravagant cookies they are. The place has nice modern ambiance. The couple that works there are extremely pleasant and helpful. Now moving onto the macarons. I will admit that they have unique combinations and flavors. White chocolate and basil, lychee and rose, black currant, Madagascar vanilla(very good), lavender white chocolate, chocolate grand marnier. The cookies were enjoyable but not the best I’ve had. I felt like there wasn’t enough filling. In conclusion, this place is a good way to end your evening if you’re dining or simply strolling at the Gulfstream plaza. I’ll be back to try other flavors.

I admit, I like macarons. I just don’t buy them very often, because honestly at almost $ 3.0 for a bite size treat it’s rather pricey. Most other sweet treats will give you bigger bang for the buck. But then macaron is like a petite French lover. She just wants to tease you, gives you a little taste that makes you think you are in heaven, but before you know it, she’s gone and you are left with her sweet kiss on the mouth. Anyway, I am excited to see this new place open. I am curious how it compares to Laduree, which in my opinion is the queen of macaron. I first tried the cassis, black currant, my favorite from Laduree. Well, it doesn’t measure up. Not bad by itself, just lacking that intense burst of flavor Laduree has. Both places claim to use all natural flavors(though artificial coloring is used, in Le Macaron’s case. Not sure about Laduree.) Next, with an adventurous spirit, I tried the basil white chocolate. It was surprisingly good. The filling, creamy and flavorful, reminds me of burrata with basil. After tasting a few, my conclusion is that, it’s pretty good macarons, not the best, but perfectly enjoyable. The French guy working the counter(yeah, they try their best to make you feel like on a Paris vacation) told me the macarons hold up in the fridge for 4 days and they do. Overall, the macarons here has a thicker cookie that is more crunchy. Laduree manages to make a cookie that has a crunchy shell but chewy inside. There are other interesting flavors, like rose petals, gingerbread, lavender white chocolate, orange chocolate grand marnier, that I hope to try in the future. Besides macarons, they also have a case of decadent looking chocolates, as well as other pastries, and coffee. It’s a really big store front, elegantly adorned.
