I recently had lunch at Sage on Friday afternoon. My experience was great. My server was Rachel. She is normally excellent, however, she seemed a bit overworked and distracted. I did not like how she was bullying another waitress nor did a few other customers appreciate her following another waitress. I don’t know the other waitress, but I could tell she was distressed and was only trying to do her job. This is an issue that should be addressed. This is not the first time I have witnessed waitresses at Sage bullying another waitress.

This place used to have better quality… Have not been going too often as they did change products… Yesterday, my corn beef and pastrami were both below average again… The cole slaw was also … Well looked 1 week old! Service was ok… The place needs an urgent make up. It does look and seem unclean. Let’s give them another chance in a few months! Did not post this last one, so, I came back and they still need to clean the place… Salmon was much better… You do have to specify to the waitress to ask for the good one… They know which one is good and which one is not as good… Enjoy!

Do I have to really give it one star? Out of all the bagel joints in S FL(HALLANDALEBEACH), I chose these culinary delight. No, no, and no NOTREALLY ! From the second the waitress came to the table we knew we were in for a treat! Then came breakfast ! Starving ! My Wife ordered French toast. I couldn’t believe they plated the deep chard french toast w a side of hair and a smile. Smiles count? Nothing against the waitress she did a fine job. The food leaves A LOTTOBEDESIRED. It’s a bagel joint ! How can you mess this up?

We went in early, 6:30 am. The waitress, trying to be funny said, what the hell are you doing here at this time? I was ready to leave. Bagels at the grocery store are better. Not going back.

This deli has one of the best tasting bagels I have had in Miami. Plan on buying an extra dozen to bring home after your meal. They are made in the store and they are authentic and chewy just the way you want them. The deli meats are delicious. The portion sizes are huge. The blintzes are authentic and perfectly prepared. The matzah ball soup is wonderful. The dining room needs to be renovated and updated. The restaurant feels dirty, it’s just old and way overdue for some attention. Our server was attentive and friendly.

Place is just to dirty there was a small tiny black hair is my side coleslaw. I asked 5 times if turkey was off the actual frame 5 times they said yes. There is no way I went inside to look at case and turkey was in a plastic bag. They were nice enough to return it because I am literally 39 weeks pregnant and can’t have deli meat unless it really is fresh. I get it off the frame at another deli in Aventura and I know what off the frame actually should look like. The bagels are good like I said in my last review, but if you are an owner reading/responding and patrons are saying the same thing you probably need to clean up your place seriously. I really prefer Jewish Deli food authentic, but now that Too Jays opened next door I may suck it up and just go there because at least it is clean and brand new.

The best bagel shop in the area — By Far!!! I have been enjoying Sage bagels for the last 20 years. I always stop in whenever I am passing Hallandale Beach Blvd along I 95. Well worth the 10 minute drive off of I95. They have the best smoked fish and bagels in the whole area. Staff is always friendly and service is quick. I always order take out though and eat in the car, so I can’t really speak to the restaurant side(they have two entrances, one for the take out counter and the other for their sit down restaurant). If you are craving a real NY style bagel with Nova, Sable, or Sturgeon then this is your place. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed with your choice…

Sage, could be, by far, the best deli in South Florida… And this is coming from someone who was born and raised in Miami, and a fifth-generation Miamian at that. I must say, we do have a sprinkling of some of the best delis in the world including roasters and toasters in Pinecrest, the old Broadway bagels in West Kendall, bagel Emporium in Coral Gables but Sage is really where it is at. Everything is amazingly fresh, from the best whitefish salad in the world, to the softest bagels, belly locks, and all of the deli meats are fresh off the bone, nothing package or preserved. And don’t get me started on the bakery section. I could overdose on their authentic rainbow cookies, hamantaschen and rugalach any day of the week. I could go on but I’m getting hungry!

Probably one of my top three bagels. I love every single type at sage. The food is not that special, but boy are the bagels good. If you go early in the morning, and pick up some fresh ones it is like the bagel melts in your mouth, no need for toppings.

By far and I mean by FAR — the best bagels in South Florida. Made in house and awesome! Are they expensive? A bit. But you get way more value than what you pay for. An authentic deli. I’m not there for small talk or to get my ego stroked. I’m there because the food is great! If you order bland non-ethinc food, and get just that, why complain? You go to a deli for the foods they are famous for and excel in. I drive all the way from the Las Olas area. Why? I know the bagels will be 1,000% better than anywhere else I go. PS. If you have that entitlement mentality where everyone needs to fawn all over you AND the food should not only be perfect but super cheap. This is not the place for you. They don’t give out blue ribbons for the«we think your the best» customer awards. And there are no safe places to stand when«heaven forbid» you have to actually wait for real cooked food. If so, I suggest, you go to Einstein or Dunkin it’s what you deserve.

The most expensive and also most average turkey sandwich I’ve ever had at 13 dollars and change… No chips, no drink. I’m not kidding. I don’t even understand how they can charge that much. Also, they don’t have rolls so I had it on some pretty sub par Rye. I’ll save my deli trips for when I’m in New York. This experience shattered my hopes and dreams of having a legitimate deli experience in Florida.

I tried this place. Woman behind the counter seemed like she was already upset with her life or something. Others around her seemed OK, but she was absolutely nuts. I wanted so badly to finally have a deli in this area when I visit and I’m not going back. Longevity doesn’t cut it anymore — someone train this person to be human.

I have been eating food from Sage since I was a small child visiting my Grandparents in Hollywood. Grandma used to feed us platters of smoked fish and bagels. When we were too full to eat another bite she would say, «Ready for an omelet, pancakes, french toast?» Sage is still the best bet for good Jewish soul food in Broward county. I have not had the hot food(except soup) but for bagels and smoked fish it really can’t be beat. Now it is my Mom who buys my family the bagels, nova, whitefish salad, and baked salmon salad. It is not as great as Sables’s in New York City, but very few places are. A few weeks ago we made a rare appearance and ate in at Sage. The place looks exactly the same as it did so many years ago. There is absolutely no atmosphere. It actually looks a little grimy. The plates are plastic and some of the silverware was bent. However, in the middle of season, in Hallandale, we did not have to wait at Sunday brunch time. Service was a bit uneven. Our server took our order promptly but then it took a while for our food to come out in a very haphazard manner. Sometimes it was difficult to get our servers attention. We later found out that she had to go outside to help paramedics translate(French I believe) for an elderly man who had a heart attack! Hello Hallandale Beach! When we finally got all of the food it was delicious! I could not resist getting some Matzoh Ball Soup! The. broth was delicious and the Matzoh ball was huge! Other items we ordered included: Potato Pancakes-crispy and tasty! Blintzes-I am not usually a Blintz fan but these were great! Omelet-I did not try it, but Mom loved hers Nova Eggs Benedict-11 year old says he has had better benedicts Smoked Fish Platter-Husband and I shared a platter with nova and whitefish salad. Classic. You can never go wrong with that here. A note on the bagels. These are New York Style bagels: crusty on the outside and bit dense and chewy on the inside. I very much prefer these bagels to the«bread bagels» one gets at an Einstein’s or Offerdahl’s, but they might not be to everyone’s taste. When I ate them at my Mom’s they tasted almost too dense. However, when eaten on the premises, they were perfect. Besides the bagels though, I believe the food from Sage would be better enjoyed at home.

Arrived at 8:45AM on a Sunday morning and had our choice of available tables. Service was speedy, efficient and professional. Good news: eggs and omelettes are cooked with oil, not butter, and there is no milk in the scrambled eggs. Makes it easier for those with dietary restrictions. Special requests cheerfully accommodated, such as an omelette with nova salmon but no onions. Children’s hotdog and french fries made the little one very happy; baked apple with no sugar was tender and delicious. Ample parking at this hour. Takeout area already busy. Sliced nova $ 44 per pound, totally worth it. Good selection of gourmet goodies and deli foods found in very few places in Broward County. Arrive early and enjoy yourself here.

I have been coming to Florida every Christmas for as long as I can remember(20+ years) and the first stop we make after landing at the airport is to the sage to stock up on some bagels, deli meats and much more. You really cant go wrong here. These bagels don’t compare to New York bagels, they’re a whole new class of bagels — but coming from New York and loving these bagels so much definitely means something!!! Sage bagels are the perfect mix between soft/doughy/chewy! So impressed. You must try them!!!

What a nightmare. Horrible ambiance. There was hair in our food. A crazy lunatic running around swearing at people. I need noise canceling headphones and the FOOT ad on the menu was a nice touch. CLASS. Disgusting rat hole of a place. Don’t go here.

Why 4 stars? Because I LOVELOVELOVE the bagels here. They are the real deal! Always fresh. Why not 5 stars? Because when I’ve eaten here for breakfast, I don’t feel the love and the food overall isn’t fabulous… isn’t deli fabulous like when I buy the things from this deli and prepare a meal or buffet from it — it’s deli fabulous! Every time I visit the area, this is a MUSTSTOP and get a dozen to take home with me. I almost gave it 3 stars because during my last visit, there were only a few bagels available, bought them and almost out the door, more came and I bought the rest to finish out a dozen. Although I was charged only for the remaining dozen price, I did not get my 13th/baker’s dozen bagel. So, I felt cheated. But, that’s only happened once and you need to get there early or you’ve got slim pickins! Still, the best bagel in FL!
