Classic spot to crash after a dinner with the fam. Amble drink selection, central location, always open when nowhere else is available, the Wharf is our go-to after a holiday dinner, a place to unwind, watch a decent cover band, and perhaps run into an old high school buddy.

The Wharf is a great place to see live music almost any night of the week. Although it is a dark basement of a pub it has a nice feel in summer or winter. I have hung out and played darts, cribbage and listened to some of the best music anywhere. During Old Hallowell Day I would like to see food service out in the Beer Garden Also a great place to watch the fireworks.

I hear the Wharf can be quite busy but my friend and I went on Saturday night and there were like 5 people there and they looked at us like we were«from away» meaning out of state for you non-Mainers. The drinks were ok. bartenders were great, very friendly. The band was just starting when we got there and they were ok. The got the older people moving, which was most of the people there. Very old crowd but I suspect that was because we got there too early. I will try them again but next time I will go later when the younger crowd usually gets there and do a revised review.

dive bar, cheap drinks, live music, Star Wars pinball, good people and reading fun on the bathroom walls… need I say more?

If you’re in the mood for a dive bar, you can’t do any better than The Wharf. Cheap drinks. Live music. Dancing. When I walked in the door, I couldn’t help but picture of a submariner repeating«Dive, dive, dive.» It was a good time, but might not be your style if you prefer Higher Grounds, The Liberal Cup or Hoxter’s.

I love a good dive. I loooove a cheap beer. And I adore good music. This place has it all. Makes me miss Maine.
