Hadnt eaten here in about 7 or 8 years. Still the same mass produced slop, so disappointed. The mexican spaghetti was gross and everything else very sub par, we didnt even ask for boxes to take home anything. I really wanted it to be good here bc its close to my home but its just up to my standards

I’m love some good Mexican food and Coyote Café delivers. I had my first experience here while I was working and we just had take out but after that I was hooked. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and haven’t had any bad food from there yet, i will keep trying and let you know if i find anything. Eating in is an experience on its own, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and very attentive servers. Its a great place to take the whole family and I have two kids under the age of five so I am leery about trying out new restaurants as a family but it is loud enough that if the kids are making a bit of a raucous it isn’t a big deal. Everytime I’ve been here, I’ve left with a smile on my face and a full tummy.

We put Coyote Café up to the challenge by bringing a young couple that lives in the city(hip couple) and our two small children(monsters) on a busy Saturday night. Mission accomplished! We had reservations for 6:30. We did have to wait 15 minutes for our table, so I did take the liberty of getting margaritas for our group from the bar, sans kids. They were yummy. Not strong, or too sweet. Good enough that we ordered another round before our food came. Service was great. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to get one of the specials, molates… I did order the second special, chilaquilles. Very good. The tomatillo sauce was a bit bland, but the meat along with the fried egg and homemade chips was exceptional! Our guests had burritos and chimichangas. Very happy indeed. It is always exciting for us to introduce new places to friends outside the area. My wife had quesadillas and she loved them. She also always gets an extra side of guacamole, because it really is good… The little ones were so behaved. Coyote Café really does a great job with the kids. They love Jeff(owner) and our waitress was so engaging with them. They both had chicken fingers with sopa. One order would have been enough for the both of them. We love having Coyote Café in the Village. I’d love to see them on Food Show sometime in the near future. They would do great!

Ok… One year since my last review. Getting the grilled fajita is ok … actually pleasant out on the patio. End of story. Ordering anything else comes up dreadful. Again as before, when another member of our party ordered the flautas, it was a disaster that she could not finish eating. Shredded chicken she likened to cat food, not to mention like the previously review mentioned fish tacos, was just plain greasy. Service was good, waitress was pleasant… noise from the back patio karioki wafting around to the front was annoying. I would not go back, nor recommend Coyote Café. There is a new Mexican restaurant in town to try.

I used to go to this restaurant all the time when lived in Hamburg– I don’t remember it being as bad as it is now. The past few times we have visited over the past year, we’ve had bad experiences. Environment: Perhaps they want this place to be a party bar now, but since the expansion, the rest of the restaurant has gone down hill. On our recent visit, we were seated at a table with chips underneath it(like dropped from the party before us or the night before). When we looked around, there was dust forming in corners, the banners hanging were coming apart at the seems, signs were taped to the walls with tape hanging off the top, and we had to wait quite a while for anyone to come to the reception counter to seat us.(What does this say about the meal we were about to eat…) Food: First, the waitress brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was definitely Grade D canned salsa(with way too much added sugar). The chips were decent but definitely not homemade. My husband ordered a steak taco and I ordered a shrimp fajita salad. The salad came piled high on a plate(some people might like this, but this screams«poor ingredients» to me. The shrimp were tiny salad shrimp– simply boiled, not really sauteed or grilled. The veggies were fine. The iceberg lettuce came in giant chunks that I had to cut. And I requested no cheese, but they piled it on anyway(which the waitress noticed and apologized for). They didn’t have a whole lot of healthy dressings on the menu, so I simply ordered oil(and they gave me vegetable oil) on the side and opted to flavor it myself. My husband’s meal wasn’t as bad– a giant heap of refried beans, a taco that looked more like a quesadilla and the salad he got was at least chopped to add to the taco. Rationale: Now, I live in Buffalo, so perhaps we are spoiled with the delicious Mexican restaurants that are opening all over: Cantina Loco, Don Tequila, Agave and Lloyds. Coyote Café is on par with El Palenque– piled high, Grade D food straight out of the can. If you like that kind of stuff, you might like this place. I prefer fresh, homemade salsa, chips and food and owners who are more committed to a culinary experience. Recommendation: If you are in Hamburg, just drive the extra mile and go to La Tolteca, or anywhere but here.

Service was good, food was very average: refried beans taste it is if they had chemicals in them. Definitely metallic, straight from a can. Skimpy on meats, nothing special. A plus was the lightly skillet toasted soft taco shells.

We were at the tail-end of a 17-day journey through New York City, Philadelphia, and the Buffalo/Hamburg area, and I have to say, this was the WORST restaurant experience of our entire trip. Granted, we were mainly interested in having a few margaritas and some chips/salsa accompaniment, since we had already eaten dinner… but both the sorry food and utterly apathetic service left a bad taste in our mouths. We asked for seating on the back patio, since it was a breezy evening and we thought perhaps there’d be some ambiance out there. Mistake #1. We sat there looking at a view of a gravel back alley and the Hamburg water tower(ironic, since the waitress didn’t stand next to our table long enough for us to even ask for water until much later in the visit). Not a flower or decoration to be seen. Utterly depressing. The patio actually had some potential, but nope… they didn’t seem to want to bother. A colorful umbrella. A planter. Some wall art. SOMETHING. The food/drinks: we ordered house margaritas($ 8, menu said $ 6). Super sweet, had to dilute them with water. I think there may have been some alcohol there, couldn’t really tell. My friend ordered a sangria, it was so bad she had to send it back. She said it was like a bad version of Crystal Light. Some pathetic cubed fruit floated on the surface. My other friend was safe, she had ordered a beer… Served from a can. No glass. No cup. Didn’t even get the option.(Oh, it must get rowdy on that patio, they have a strict ‘no glass allowed’ policy. Hence all the drinks are served in clear plastic cups.) we ordered chips and salsa, and also some guacamole. The overly-greasy chips were brought in a grease-stained brown paper bag that was stapled shut. No plate, no serving basket. Like, who does this? NEVER seen that one before. Apparently ‘patio service’ means one foot out the door as in ‘to go’. It gets better(actually worse). The salsa and guac both arrive in SEALED tiny plastic containers… the salsa was bland and watery, and the guac was obviously the processed kind from Costco. We didn’t finish either one, and stopped eating the greasy chips 1⁄3 way through. We tried one more item, roasted corn, as we saw it float by on a plate and we could see a guy preparing it on the grill behind us. It arrived 15 minutes later with some kinda gross-looking sauce on it. When we asked what it was, we were told it was lemon aioli. Lemon mayo was more like it… off it came after tasting it. Yuck. Our waitress virtually ignored us throughout… we finally got some water ¾ of the way into our visit, then we couldn’t get her to bring a check. We actually had to get up and flag her down to ask for it. Like, just stop socializing in that little circle with the other servers and stop by once in awhile. Funny, the blue moon was happening the following day. How appropriate, as it described her check-in frequency. Like I said, WORSTEXPERIENCE in about 15 days of touring. I can only imagine how bad the rest of the food must be at the Coyote Café. If I could give it 0 stars, I would… ITWASTHATBAD!

This was our first visit and we were not impressed. The food was bland and a bit pricey. I had to cut up the burritos to eat them, as they were not prepared as ordered. The waitress was very nice and apologized saying she misunderstood how I wanted them. I doubt we will return.

Everything tastes the same! You could get better Mexican food pretty much anywhere else, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas all have the same greasy bland taste to them! The staff is very nice… good bartender and wait staff but interacted with the owner a few times and one word to describe him is… ass! Save yourself the money(food and drinks are overpriced) and the time, and just go someplace else.

Absolutely the best and most original stuffed peppers you will ever have! Banana peppers stuffed with cream cheese and then battered and fried! Topped with jalapenos and sour cream for an absolutely delicious party for your taste buds. Always busy so plan to go a little before you’re hungry and have a drink at their full bar. Huge servings, so I always have lunch the next day. Great atmosphere. Great customer service — their servers are always friendly with a smile on their face. They are involved in the community as well. Overall a great place to go. The chorizo was a little too salty the last time I was there(so salty I couldn’t eat it which was sad, the sides were delicious — great refried beans and rice) otherwise it would have received 5 stars.

Overall, I think my experience here was just okay. There were some pros and some cons to my whole experience. I think I would go back again, but not anytime soon. The pros: the atmosphere was lovely. The walls were extremely colorful. The first color you see is a dark purple and when you enter the actual restaurant, it’s mixed with a variety of different colors. The place was on the darker side, but I thought it was pretty soothing. Overall, excellent on the ambiance scale. Secondly, our waitress was lovely and very attentive to our needs. Our food was served timely and the portion size was immense. The cons: It was slightly on the more expensive side for a meal. Entrees were $ 15+. Maybe I’m just not use to paying that much, but I’ve paid less than that for better quality food. Speaking of the food, I thought it was okay. I had the chicken and black bean taco with guacamole with a side of rice and mexican potatoes. It was good and all but after I was done, I felt extremely nauseous, something I have never really felt after eating anywhere. I’m not sure if anyone has ever felt this way from eating here, but it definitely swayed my opinion more negatively. I’m thinking that everything leading into my eating might have been the cause(not eating for several hours, eating a heavy meal on a fairly empty stomach) so I kind of want to go back and prove myself(and my stomach) wrong. My taste buds said yes, but my tummy definitely said no.

I have been supporting Coyote Café for years. The past two months their food has been lacking in taste and preparation. We ordered 3 chicken and Steak fajitas .(the chicken and steak fajitas’s were burnt) I mean stuck to the pan burnt and dried out beyond salvage. Only 1 of the 3 dinners was partially edible that night. We were very disappointed. I did mention to the waitress that we were not satisfied. They took one meal off the bill this time. I feel they both should have been taken off. We saved a lot of the meat to show how burnt they were. I feel they didn’t really care. A manager didn’t even come over to check it out.

Stopped in for lunch during the week. A friendly employee stated I could sit anywhere so I picked the front window to people watch while I eat. This place is pretty small in the village which is very easy to miss while driving through. I ordered something with shredded chicken in it and queo on top with a side of the Mexican rice. The entire meal was great and came to me very quickly during the lunch rush. I really liked the home made salsa and chips. When I want Mexican in the Southtowns I am going here for sure.

Stopped in with a friend for a late dinner and found the Coyote Café hopping – the bar was full and live music was playing on the the back patio. We opted to sit in the front so we could chat, and even with the crowd and music, it was still quiet enough to talk easily. Our server was friendly and helpful, although clearly a little bit frenzied; she seemed to be the only one serving the whole room(and was trying to tackle some end-of-night cleanup as well). We loved our«Sunset Margaritas,» which were the special of the day. When you ordered one for $ 6.95, you got an appetizer half off – good deal. We opted for a platter of dips – queso, guac, pineapple salsa, and a few others – for $ 8($ 4 with discount) and a veggie quesadilla for $ 10($ 5 with discount) made on corn tortillas to suit my gluten-free friend’s requirement. The food was fine – not outstanding, but not exceptional. Everything was delivered hot and quickly. I can’t say I’d go out of my way to eat here again – but I also wouldn’t avoid it if we were in the area and hungry. Just«middle of the road» place.

Went back a couple of weeks ago for dinner with the wife. Thought I would give it one more try. Glad I did. Service and food seems to have returned to the high quality I remember. My fajitas were hot, perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Tortillas were fresh as were the fixings that went along with it. The service was much better too. Although the wait was long, the server was friendly, seemed to care about our requests and checked in regularly. Rarely do I go back to a place that I give a poor review to, but I have historically liked the coyote café and thought it deserved another shot. I’m glad my previous experience appears to have been a one time thing.

We began with a less than helpful hostess, she ignored people who came in, not telling anyone that they needed to put their name on a list for a table. The 2nd hostess was busting her butt helping to wait on and clean tables and eventually came back to the desk and signed us up for a table. The wait staff was knowledgeable in regards to allergies and had us set with Gluten Free options in no time. The food was plentiful and tasty, their salsa was quite unique and one of my favorite things. We will definitely be back.

Very disappointed. Chips a little stale and salsa so so. Had the chicken bueno burrito. The chicken was a bit chewy. Chicken fajita from Mighty taco would have been a better idea. Not sure what happened but before they worked on the road out front Coyote Café was much better. Bummer, we used to really like it here. Just keep going back wishing it would get better. Cut my loses and move on I guess.

If you have kids, this place is pretty fun. It’s casual, it’s colorful, and they’ve got a drawer full of crayons and cartoon coyote color sheets to keep the kids busy. This goes double if you’ve got a gluten-free eater. They’ve got a few gluten-free items on the menu(as do a few other neighboring restaurants; this seems to be a Hamburg specialty). The servers are also really nice and accommodating. But if you’re a regular diner without such limitations, you could do better. The music is loud and distracting, and the food is just so-so. As other reviewers have said — a home-cooked meal would probably be preferable.
