Four couples descended upon the Crystal Springs resort for a night of fun and celebration. Our meal at the Springs Bistro was a highlight. Despite being situated right off the lobby of the hotel, this restaurant fostered a fine-dining feel. It was pricey but we had a great time. Culinary highlights included: pumpkin gnocchi, popaletto(small meatballs), the venison special, the wild-boar pappardelle, and the savory sweets that followed. Give it a try!

Their Fried Calamari was incredible: a light and crispy batter! I nibbled at their artisan bread; charcuterie board; bean salad; and, fig flatbread! While the rest of our party all enjoyed their corn risotto; lamb; and, rib eye — my salmon was overcooked — sad! As for the desserts: both the chocolate cake and the gelatos was a nice end to our meal! A beautiful setting outside on a busy Friday evening! Lucky to get a seating last minute! Beware of the slowness of orders to be taken, not enough hands for a busy night! Yet accommodating pleasant and courteous our server was to pace out our meal! CinCin!

They actually launched a new menu two weeks ago. Being my first time there and seeing the previous reviews, I was skeptical about this place. BOYWAS I WRONG. This place is awesome! The cuisine is authentic and their steak is AMAAAAZING! Definitely save room for dessert, especially the tiramisu!

I sat at the bar and got great service. I ordered the spring greens and the citrus honey dressing was amazing and the salad itself was terrific. The problem was with the Braised Sasso Chicken. I have NEVER met a chicken dish I didn’t like, but this dish made NO sense. It was a braised thigh and a leg swimming in a half a bowl of soup WITH A GRILLEDBREAST that was actually burnt from the grill floating in there too. There was toast, but the toast was INTHEHALFBOWLOFSOUPSOWHENTHETOASTWASPICKEDUP, ITFELLAPARTEVERYWHERE! WORSTCHICKENDISHEVER! WHATTHEHECKWERETHEYTHINKING? Afterwards… the coffee was fabulous. I think they sneak some cocoa in it…

Ate there this weekend and can honestly say was probably the worst place I’ve been to in my life — ordered the Tagatelle — zero taste — Fiancée had the Risotto — also horrid — food reminded me of the school lunches i used to have — my niece had chicken fingers and she liked it but hey shes 7!

Wife and I ate at Springs Bistro while staying at the Grand Cascades Lodge this weekend. Seating for the restaurant spills from the dining room into the back of the lobby and into the bar, which we thought was kind of an odd layout. The hostess/station are in the lobby too. It was a busy Saturday night, we had an 8:30 reservation and were seated at the one table in the actually bar area, probably the worst and least private table available which was annoying. Menu was rather small, with some standard Italian apps and some interesting salads, a handful of fairly standard pasta entrees and a handful of meat/fish entrees. All pasta dishes were mid $ 20s+ and meat and fish dishes were $ 30-$ 40 — I consider this pretty pricey. Drinks and wine from the bar were good but quite expensive(no red wine under $ 14/glass). We ordered the beet salad and fried calamari as appetizers — beet salad was very good but small portion. Calamari was your standard calamari with a hunk of lemon and some decent marinara — again a weak portion considering the price. My wife ordered the lasagna. Very tasty, made fresh and served in a crock. Nice portion. I ordered the tagliatelle dish with meatballs and fresh mozz. Came out as 3 baseball-sized meatballs each topped with a small piece of fresh mozz on top of a very small portion of the tagliatelle pasta, which was freshly made and delicious. The meatballs, while pretty good, were a tad dry and WAY overly portioned to the pasta. Regardless we were both nice and full. We shared an awesome dessert — forget what it was called buy it was a light chocolate pudding topped with a sweet espresso foam and biscotti for dipping. In summary — slightly above average Italian standards, served fresh and hot. Menu selection could be better and portions could be bigger for the hefty price tags. Service was average at best by a college-aged girl and college-aged busboys/runners.
