Went to this small establishment for breakfast with my family… Everyone was very disappointed, Eggs were not well done as requested, pancakes taste microwaveable(rubbery), food was cold, pricey $$$ Waitress was nice!

Price is a little much for diner food. It’s a good place to go if you want food after the bar otherwise don’t waste your money.

Don’t eat here, my friend found a dead fly in their food and they would not take the meal off the bill let alone apologize! So disgusting, I’ve ate here once or twice before my friends incident and NEVER been back! Just completely gross and I advise any and everyone to be wise of this diner!

Not sure why all the poor reviews for this diner. While passing through the area, was going to get off the Merritt and grab fast food. Instead found this place right off the exit and decided to give it a try. Typical Greek diner, loaded down menu with 24 hour breakfast and tons of selections for lunch and dinner. Decided to order breakfast and it did not disappoint. Omelettes were pretty good and home fries and toast was done right. Grilled cheese, BLT and fries was also done just right. Plus the service was friendly and attentive even at a crowded lunchtime hour. No problems and it was fast and everything tasted great plus prices were reasonable for the amount of food!

I had breakfast here food was good but i felt rushed and insulted when waitress gave me the bill with my food. I looked at tables near me but none of other guests were given their checks. Hmmmm I wonder why.

What can I say? it’s a pretty standard CT-style 24-hour Greek diner with reasonable prices and solid food. Nothing more, nothing less. Is it the best diner food I have ever had? No. Is it the worst? Definitely not. But I am generally happy with everything I have ever had here. I tend to go here whenever I am with one of my parents and we don’t know exactly what we feel like having, everyone finds something at the diner. The service is a bit slow but friendly, the restaurant is always clean. And I can get breakfast 24 hours, which is never a bad thing. The standouts for me here are the turkey club(triple decker) which comes with their del-i-cious french fries as well as their giant salads.

I grew up a block away from here. My mom and i would walk down and have the meatloaf special, the liver and onions or the tunafish sandwich special on Wednesday nights. In high school weekend nights id be there late night enjoying the two egg special(runny over easy, rye toast, sweet coffee, with a lit camel light) listening to the standard window mounted jukebox. It was where you went. Good food, good price, prickly but efficient wait staff. Not so much anymore. The best thing i can say now… its better then 3 brothers, cheaper then the pantry and always open.

Solid diner food at reasonable prices. I have to remove a star because when I came for brunch coffee and water took forever to come, and never got refilled until we got our check and specifically asked. The coffee tasted burnt and was not good at all. The food itself was good, but the service just wasn’t anywhere near some other places in the area, so I won’t go back unless its late at night and I’m craving diner fare. UPDATE: after drafting this review I went back again at midnight after hanging out with friends. This time the service was excellent. So I guess it entirely depends on who your server is.

This diner has become one of my standby stops on frequent trips back and forth to Northern New England. It located about two hours out of central Long Island where I live, which makes it a great stop for a breakfast after an early start to skip NYC traffic. The food here is just plain old honest«chow». Don’t expect anything fancy, just homemade Greek diner standbys. I like their menu of daily specials; recently had a waffle and bacon special followed on the return trip by an Athenian omelette. All made to order and tasting just how it should, no more no less. Wait staff is always efficient, place is always clean. What more do you want from a diner? I’m from an area well populated by diners and have eaten at more than a few. This is above average and always dependable for me. Located 1 minute off the parkway and near gas stations, this is exactly the type of pit stop I look for to avoid the Mc-Others.

This place is just an average diner, nothing too special. Pricey for the portions that you get. Alot of drunk/after bar crowd and high school crowds as well. I never would go out of my way to eat here, it is just OK. Service sucks sometimes. They revamped the front and added a nice handicapped ramp for those who need it. Meh.

Here on business. Food was nothing compared to what I’m used to in Northern NJ. When we asked for a copy of the receipt, she said the receipt paper ran out. I would explore other places before going to this place.

Normally I enjoy diners for breakfast but I didn’t care for the food. I can’t speak for lunch or dinner but I dont think I will be back to try it. The people were friendly and the service was fast.

I love diners. this sadly was a sub par diner. Service was really slow despite being fairly empty. A little overpriced compared to other diners in the area and the food itself was just okay. I would go here again if i had to, but i would much rather go pretty much any other place in the area. Overall not much to say positive or negative. It was just okay

Okay food, great service. Ordered ‘fries’ & slaw with my sandwich to bump it up to a platter. Server brought home fries not french fries. I didn’t mind as it wasn’t clear in the way I ordered. Server cheerfully got me french fries quickly so I ended up with both. Both kinds of Fries were perfect, though the meatloaf sandwich lacked any character and came on soggy toast. The Acropolis will do as an after hours eatery but during regular dining hours there’s tons of better options for food nearby.

Craving diner food after leaving bar 2weeks ago and since this is close to home thought it would be a good stop, my boyfriend and I were basically ignored, first of we sat ourselves, then after waiting 20mins, while others,(mostly QU students wearing all there gear) were seated and had there orders taken promptly, we couldn’t even get a glass of water from any of the servers, needless to say, even if I was starving I wouldn’t come here ever agin

Gyro & fries. Pretty good. The Cyro meat was tender and hot. You can’t go wrong with diner fries. There could have been some more sauce, but I’m being picky.

I’ve had mostly good experiences here so I’m rounding up from 3.5 to 4 stars. This is our go-to place when we don’t want fast food and its late at night. Prices are alright. All their breakfast food is awesome. I had the cheese fries once… never again. Sometimes the service can be meh but its a diner and they are some miserable looking employees. I’m sure they get tipped worse than normal places to begin with but their attitude sure doesn’t help them. My boyfriend loves their chicken salad sandwich(comes with bacon). I love their fries and always have trouble deciding if I want french fries or home fries. We always order breakfast food or sandwiches, the dinners never seem appetizing especially at the prices of the dinners. I’m wondering if all the people with bad reviews are eating all those overpriced dinners.

Acropolis Diner [affectionately called«Acrop» by those in the know] is pretty great. Although, to be honest, I don’t know if I’m a fan because Acrop is a legitimately good diner, or if it’s because Acrop is such a staple to Hamden livin’. I’ve never had a bad experience with the waitstaff. Just the opposite, actually. The food is typical diner food. Any place that serves breakfast all day is good in my book. The prices are reasonable. Coffee is decent and equipped with free refills. Soda is decent, but the refills ain’t free. Seriously, Acrop is a Hamden institution. I have so many memories of eating here — especially from my high school days. Which was awesome when I was actually IN high school, but now that years and years have passed since roaming the halls of Hamden High, this fact is just irritating. Whyyyyyy is this place full of high school brats? Was I really THAT annoying? How do the waitstaff even stand it? Okay, I’ll stop asking questions. But, expect that you will run into high school aged kids, especially if you’re in between the hours of 12:00PM and 4:00PM.

We ordered a chocolate shake, onion rings, eggplant parm sub, and a piece of cheesecake and ate every bite. It was all perfect. So perfect that I’d almost be afraid to go back and ruin a perfect memory. Our waitress was great and I got a kick out of the other customers too. Great diner experience.
