Cakeworks Etc

Im not crazy about the cupcakes, they come off as a little dry, when cupcakes should be moist. However I love everything else. The cookies, pies, cheesecakes, coffees everything. The service at this location is top notch, very awesome customer service. Very cute décor.

My family has gotten a Cakeworks cake for every special occasion since before I can remember, and we could never go back to any other cake. The owner makes buttercream cakes that are to die for, and her designs are beautiful. We get extra large cakes and freeze the extra – it freezes great!!! I don’t know why the other reviewer on here had such a negative experience – the owner has always been nothing but kind, friendly and professional with me and my family. Give Cakeworks a try for your next party – I think you will be a convert!

If I could give this business less than one star for the rude treatment I received over the phone, I would.
I called them today to get a quote for a large cake for my in-​laws 50^th wedding anniversary — but I never even got that far. I encountered the most unpleasant and nasty woman (presumably the owner) on the phone. As I was starting to explain what I needed, I was told «Listen I’m on another call so move it along … tell me what you need …».
I was in shock that a business person would speak to a potential customer that way. Needless to say, I told her to forget it –and what I thought of what she just said to me and I hung up. There is a way to handle yourself when you are busy — you ask for a number to call the person back, maybe, but you do NOT speak to a customer that way.
Go somewhere else — this nasty witch doesn’t deserve your business.

Cakeworks has somewhat less inventory than Cake Decorators in Meriden. It’s about the same size, but not as crammed with stuff. But they are about half the distance from New Haven. The location is also cute — small white house on Whitney.
Today they had what I needed (cake leveler) as well as something I didn’t expect but of course had to buy… BLINGING METALLIC GOLD, SILVER, AND PEARLESCENT WHITE CAKE SPRAY PAINT.
