Really solid pizza crust, sauce and toppings. A little cheaper then most places and always consistent. The subs weren’t that great but the pizza is good.

A few years ago Dimatteos was a serious contender for best Italian food in the area. They had a fire maybe 6 years ago and it really seems like their food has two periods, before the fire(amazing), and after the fire(horrific). My pictures speak a thousand words. It was 8pm on Saturday night and there were two tables of people 60 or older. Not one single pick up order came in the entire time we were there. There were four waitresses on, however no one was working. Literally someone from the kitchen walked our food out about 45 mins after we ordered. By the looks of it it took them that long to find it in the freezer and pop it in the microwave. Avoid, for great Italian food go to Amicis — around the corner, friendlier staff and the quality is in a league all its own.

Pizza is really good, but A TINYTHINGOFRANCHIS80CENTS. What the hell. Also, all the food is pretty overpriced.

This is one of my favorite pizza places! Whether take out or dine in food is always fresh and delicious. I love their pizza! Their sauce is amazing and the crust is not thick. The calamari and pastas are incredible. One of my favorite dishes is a lemon chicken and pasta. YUM! Great portions. Many of the dinner plates could be shared. Their salads are delicious and super fresh. Their DiMatteos salad with chicken is one of my favorites. Staff is extremely friendly and they treat you like family. Great place to sit, relax and have great food.

I was raised in an Italian family in Jersey and I have to admit, this place is ace when it comes to good Italian food. I went to college in CT and suffice to say that the folks in New Haven take pizza seriously… not quite like New Yorkers but I digress. We got two pies, one regular plain and one with mushroom and sausage. In a word, WOW. The sauce was sweet but not thin. Sometimes the sweet sauces are watered down… not here. I’m not in the area all that often but I’ll be looking forward to return trips :)

Pizza wasn’t bad but please management… stop playing that awful Italian music in the dining area… it gave me a splitting headache. service slow but courteous. all in all not bad but I think I’d do takeout next time and not be subjected to the terrible music.

Really like this place. Been here twice with the kids when we Have time to Kill in Hamden. Last time it was a rainy day and boy did we find comfort in this place. The waitress’ are great, the food is yummy my daughter had a Hard time choosing which pizza and the waitress had no problem suggesting and ordering a half shrimp and half prosciutto pizza for her. Love the Italian music!

Been here a couple times, dining in and ordering out, I’ve enjoyed my experience a lot! Pizza is delicious, pasta dishes are huge, and sandwiches are also really yummy. Wait staff is very nice, very clean restaurant, and prices are extremely reasonable! Will certainly be back!

Walked into the restaurant after a long day and decided to give them a try. My waitress was very sweet and sat me right away. They seem to do takeout as well. The dining room is separated from the front where people seem to come in and out frequently for takeout orders. The menu has all the typical Italian dishes. I went with gnocchi and asked them to put it in their vodka sauce. It was a generous portion and I thought it was delicious. I tried the gelato for dessert and was also delicious. I was really impressed by my waitress. I wish I knew her name blonde hair in a short haircut. I’d definitely go back.

Pretty good food but so over priced. The service is pretty good you ask and you get it within seconds usually. The prices just are way to much to go there just for pizza. Go down the street instead.

Pizza is just OK. Nothing special. The dishes are way over priced for mediocre food. Not going back ever.

Don’t know what everyone raves about, pizza is at best mediocre not much flavor at all. For the price I was hoping for better sauce and flavor

I haven’t had anything other than their pizza, but it’s always great and it’s nice to have decent pizza in Hamden. They make pizza like it should be made, so what more could you ask for? The service isn’t that awesome, but decent enough.

Local and convenient. This is pretty much our neighborhood go — to spot. We don’t eat much(really anything) here other than pizza. The pizza is good — not great.

Good Italian food, friendly service, good gelato. And a changing table in the men’s room, thanks!

Solid Italian food– probably the best for the price in Hamden. It’s a bit cheaper than Amicis, but not by much. Convenient and fast– the dining area lacks an ambiance, though. It is ideal for takeout or pizza– I’d say.

One of the better pizza places around. My only issue with them is the prices. They are way too high. Great hot subs. The gelato looked like it had been sitting there for months. I think they are the only pizza place that doesn’t deliver.

Took over 40 minutes for the pizza to get to our table. It was only 12:40pm so you know it wasn’t busy. I can have pizza delivered to my house for less than that time. Ridiculous.

PIzza here is excellent. Gelato is also served. Chicken parm was better before the fire but whatcha gonna do? Generally do not go here a lot because it is pricy for a pizza joint.

Terribly overpriced. For 17 dollars, no salad comes with a chicken dish. This is a pizza joint, not a fancy Italian eatery. The owner needs to climb down from his high horse and serve what people want. I would drop $ 17 on dinner with a salad, no problem. Gouge me for an extra $ 2, I don’t think so.
