Great spot – our waiter was as charming as they come and the food was delicious. Can’t beat BYOB too!

Unbelievable, stopped in to grab lunch I got after hearing about how great this place was, and it lived up to the hype. I got the goat vindaloo lunch special, and it was SO good. Perfectly spiced meat, with plenty of sauce, just enough spicy to make me feel alive, and wow… the naan, so good! I’ll be back, repeatedly!

The food is really excellent and the service is so attentive. There are some more unusual dishes(relative to the average Indian restaurant in the US) and the wait staff is very helpful with suggestions. Atmosphere is negatively affected by the views of the strip mall parking lot, but the interior is very pleasant otherwise. No liquor license yet, which makes it a great bargain with BYOB. Portions are very generous.

Being an indian, i always craved for an authentic indian taste. Coming to Tangra Biriyani Point was not at all disappointing. We loved all the dishes i tired with my wife and would definetely recommend anyone around to area to visit the restaurant. I especially loved the chicken gongura and lamb hara bhara. After living in hamden for almost 9 years, i have visited about every indian spot in the new haven county and theres just something about the taste here that sets it from the rest. I always went to cumin india on skiff st as they used to be my favorites but i might have to rethink because i just found a hidden gem.

One of the better Indian restaurants. Being from India, I am always a little skeptical of most Indian restaurants in USA, since most of them disappoint. We came here for lunch on a Saturday, and the food was fantastic. We ate only the vegetarian entrees and were very pleased. We will definitely come back here again!!!

Ordered take out 4 times, always good, high quality Indian food, the best in the area. Highly recommended.

It was okay I guess, but I wish that whatever dried herbs they used weren’t old and stale. I kept pulling little twigs out of my mouth. Not terribly appetizing.

I loved it! The ambience wasn’t 5 star, but it was comfortable, the seating was nice, the lighting was nice, and the table settings were nice. The food was delicious! We went with a party of 6 and ordered a bunch of plates to share. The waiter made suggestions based on the plates we were ordering. Overall it was great! And it is BYOB. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

First time trying food here. Tiki masala was extra spicy just as requested. Good size dinner portion enough for two. Would be great if it came with naan. Definitely willing to try again.

I was excited to try this place based on rave reviews, but I cannot believe we dined in the same restaurant. This is the worst Indian food I have ever had. Indian is my favorite food and I have had it from home made to restaurants in NYC, NY state, Midwest, CT and so on. Sauces were off(onion chutney completely bland, tamarind bitter). Food flavor and spices unrecognizable, huge hunks of vegetables with onion being the main ingredient, zucchini and broccoli in navratan corma(things that do not belong), lamb tough as can be. Just a very disappointing experience — we ordered 3 dishes, tried all, paid & left them mostly untouched, especially the lamb.

My wife and I had the most wonderful experience here tonight. Food was fresh and tasty, the staff did a great job helping us select items outside the norm of Chicken Tikki Masala or Tandoori Chicken, and the bill was beyond reasonable. If tomorrow wasn’t Thanksgiving I would order from them again tomorrow. They’ve won a new weekly customer.

Ordered take out here, the location or setting isn’t the best for dine in. I don’t fancy the fact that it looks out into a parking lot of a strip mall /shopping centre and has fully transparent glass walls, plus the set up just doesn’t allow a quiet or moderately personal dining experience. It’s good quality Indian food. 3.5 star rating, nothing exception about the service thou.

Ordered delivery from here so can’t comment on the ambiance. I had mixed feelings about the food. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer which are my standbys. I could tell the quality was very good but the creaminess and taste that I’m used to from my favorite Indian places just wasn’t there. Is it possible that I only like unhealthy, americanized Indian food? Maybe, but when I get Indian food, I’m banking on that richness and it was missing. The Saag Paneer, in particular, was lacking in flavor and overly minced… kind of felt like I was eating baby food. The Garlic Naan was excellent. I would definitely give it another shot as clearly, this place has fans and again, the quality is clearly there. But when I compare it to my local favorite, Cumin India, I just don’t think it’s as good.

I came here one Sunday evening for dinner. I ordered mirchi ka salab they said they don’t have it, I ordered bigan bartha which was not available too, then I compromised to order a mix veg curry which tasted awful. They used frozen vegetables which didn’t taste good. I would not suggest this restaurant for vegetarians.

The Tika misala was amazing. Probably the best one yet and I love Indian food. I wish it was closer. I will be back. Especially so I can try their buffet. The Nan was on point. Wish it was a little bigger. Other than that. I approve

Just ok – surprised that it has such high ratings on Unilocal but that may be because of limited choices around this area. We drove out thinking it would be better but will stick to local options from now on. the food was. Fine but ultimately bland(goat biryani was fair; rack of lamb chops decent) and the garlic naan was probably the most disappointing naan I have had in a Indian restaurant before– — tasted like a pretzel(salty, flat, no garlic taste). Mango lassi also nothing special and tasted more of yogurt then mango.

Delicious! I loved the goat biryani and the samosa chat appetizer I had the first time. Very different flavors, the chat had some sweetness. The biryani was rich in flavor and spicy even at mild plus. Today, I came back here for my birthday. The garlic naan was good but not as good as it was in the Dancing Elephant in Westbrook, Maine. The chicken tikki masala was excellent and a little spicy, surprised me how good it was. The Szechuan Hakka Noodles were very spicy and good not great. I think I would come back for Indian in the future. I’m glad I found this place from Unilocal,it’s much better than Baingan in Shelton. Give it a try, great service, wonderful food.

Incredible awesome unique food — 5 stars for the food! Service is earnest but needs a lot of work 3 stars for service. 4-stars overall — simple as that!
