I have been eating Kundlas year in and out when vacationing at our lake house. Anyone who gives this place a negative review is a jackass. This is the BESTBBQ I have ever had. I put it over spots I have had in Nashville TN, chaps in Baltimore(on best thing I ever ate tv show) smoking swine(also on best thing I ever ate) and many others. There ribs are the bomb and chicken just as good. Their sauce is delicious and I suggest getting a little extra on the side because it’s so good. The staff is a little on the goofy/rudeish side but I think it’s to be expected as these people do Volume and deal with a large amount of people during all hours. Don’t let any negative reviews fool you, even those that say«I know good BBQ«because they are wrong. Get the pork ribs and half chicken and you’ll be in heaven, nothing else needed and you’ll leave happy!

I drive all the way from mount pocono to this place every year! The BBQ is amazing! I am not a huge bbq fan, but this food is just delicious. It is a great place to go to on a nice day, and claws and paws isn’t too far so we’ve made a day trip going out that way. It’s a must try ! It is cash only! And honestly I don’t know why there are any negative reviews I’ve been going here for almost 10 years now and they are always great.

Kundlas has always been one of my favorite barbecue places to frequent during the summer. Relatively fast and always good, the value for what you get is amazing. The staff is friendly and they have outdoor picnic tables to eat at. I particularly like the chops which I tend to get every time.

A great place for BBQ, you can BYOB too! Sometimes the wait is long, but it is well worth it. They have ribs, chicken, and boneless pork chops. Cash only fyi…

So this place has both extreme negative(ugh this place is the worst!) and extreme positive(OMGBESTBBQEVERRR) reviews, and in my opinion, both are unwarranted. Look, I know my BBQ, and yes, this isn’t slow smoked southern style BBQ, but charcoal grilled ribs and chicken seems to be a popular style in PA and NY, so take that for what it is. When it comes to charcoal grilled bbq, it usually turns out great chicken but chewy ribs. Well, at this place they got the tough chewy rib thing down, but at least they weren’t dry by any means. The chicken though was disappointing. The skin was not crisp at all, and the meat was just on the line of being done, it was a little on the slimy side, but it wasn’t raw or anything, it was definitely safe to eat, but I think the chicken would have benefited from a high heat finish. both the chicken and the ribs had very little flavor from the charcoal, but that’s to be expected from an open pit, the coal flavor just goes into the air instead of surrounding the meat. another weird thing is that for the chicken and rib combo they put the chicken on top of the ribs and wrapped the whole thing in foil, probably would have been better to wrap em separate. The sauce was ok, it wasn’t too sweet and it was pretty unique and on the thin side, which I appreciate, but at the same time I don’t think it’s something I will ever crave, so I won’t go out of my way for it. For sides I got the fresh cut fries and the baked beans, and like the meat, they needed to be cooked longer. I liked that the beans had a fresh texture, they were definitely homemade, but there was a flavor in there that didn’t belong, I think it was cinnamon. The fries tasted fine but they needed more time in the fryer, simple as that. I see people on here complain about the long lines, but luckily I didn’t have that problem, I went around 2pm and I only waited about 10 minutes, but I will say that parking is kind of limited, but again, luckily I found a spot. The ambiance was cool though, outdoor seating and you can see all the grilling being done while you wait for your food. The people here were nice too, and the prices seemed fair for the portions, but be warned that it’s cash only. So yeah, don’t expect authentic southern BBQ from this place, you’re going to have a hard time finding that in rural NEPA, but overall this is ok, nothing worth going out of your way for though. 2.5 out of 5

I went here a few years back and it was easily one of the worst days of my life. The food was so burnt out and dry. There was hardly any variety on the menu. It reminded me of that scene in My Cousin Vinny when Joe Pesci reads the terse menu; «breakfast,» «lunch,» and«dinner.» I didn’t understand why so many people were drawn to this place; the lines for food were abominable. I guess since there isn’t anything else to eat for miles, people are faced with either Kundla’s or starvation. I would pick at the dead skunk on the side of 590 before eating ribs at Kundla’s. My father, who mysteriously loved the place(they say you lose taste buds as you get older), coaxed my younger sister into going by bribing her with pipe dreams of a «huuuuge ice cream bar» on site. Much to her dismay, though, there was no ice cream bar. Just a freezer full of Nestle drumsticks and Good Humor bars. There was nothing humorous about my experience at Kundla’s. Avoid at all costs.

Best Barbecue place in all of Pennsylvania and surrounding states. Even better than most places in the south. And i can say that because I’ve eaten at a lot of the BBQ, waffle places and mom and pop eatery’s in Georgia, North & South Carolina all the way to Florida. Of course that’s one person’s opinion. Everyone’s taste buds are different… but sooo many would agree with me. I’ve been going to Kundla’s since 2008. And often frequent this place after hiking and enjoying the romantic and stunning water falls at Ricketts Glen State Park. And what better way to replenish the calories burned during your hike up and back down such a challenging mountain… Between two people, our meals came to a total of $ 35.00(chicken & ribs combo, 2 fries, 2 drinks, and 2 ears of corn) and it was well worth the money paid. The portions are enormous. And the food is to die for. They even provide wet naps, and even better. a sink to wash your hands after your meal, because trust me, you’re going to be messy when you finish… It is very clean, the lines move very quickly, and the staff are friendly. Only open Friday Saturday and Sunday 11am to 8pm! Gotta stop over on your next trip to Pennsylvania, the town of Hamlin’s Best kept Secret.

We love Kundla’s — being in the business we know it’s a tough one. We enjoy the fresh cut french fries and the BBQ Chicken the most !

Ribs, chicken and pork chops! I’m in love with this place. Only open on the weekends but well worth the trip. I’m mad when I can’t get a weekend free to get up here. If your in PA in the summer, make sure you stop by.

Big Place, mostly outside seating, but they do have some on the inside, just have to look for it. Line at 2pm was 45 minutes long, hot and smokey. The line moves sooooo slow. Nice people working there. Now to the food… I have only had the pork ribs, they are not«smoked» but grilled. So they are a little tough. There«famous» sauce… not so good. Lemon aid was good, and I was told the ice cream is good too. This was my second time there, it probebly will be my last…

By FAR the worst BBQ place I’ve ever been too! Heard great things about it but it was HORRIBLE! No smoky flavor ribs just vinegary sauce. French fries were soggy and limp, with no flavor, chicken was moist but had no flavor let alone any BBQ flavor, They were out of beef ribs at 3 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, had no beans, and quite possibly the worst potato salad this side of… well anything! Whoever wrote the rest of these reviews must have either never had real smoked food or have been paid to say great things because it was truly disgusting. If I could give zero stars I’d give it –10. Basically it was some grilled meat with lousy BBQ sauce sloshed on top. That’s it. Hey, they don’t even have a smoker there… There are only a huge grills… No smoker! yechhhh!

This is a staple for my family and I everytime we come up to the vacation house in The Hideout. It always seems to have a line that extends the property but it moves well most of the time. This past weekend unfortuantly there seemed to be a problem with the overturn of ribs and the line did not move for about 20 minuges while the guys at the pit got things squared away. Food: always amazing. No frills BBQ with chicken and ribs and a few BBQ side staples. They used to offer beef ribs as well as pork but due to rising prices, now only offer pork. I think that is A-OKay as I always thought their pork ribs were the real star of the show. Always super moist and huge! Chicken is fantastic with great smoke and BBQ flavor and I have never had a dry bite. Mac salad, beans, and pickles are a must. We usually always get it to go as sitting outside surrounded by the pit can get a bit warm during the middle of the summer. They offer inside seating as well but is a bit dingy to me. All in all, is this the best BBQ in all of the US? No. But, for Eastern PA it definately is. Other local places can not even compare. Just be ready and willing to wait on a line for a bit. Side note: It is BYOB which makes it fun for those who want to sit and chill on the grounds a while after eating.

I’ve been here many times is the past and the place is usually 5 stars but not today. The smoke from the pits was being blown right into the line of customers… you need a better ventilation system. It wasn’t just me, the whole line of people were complaining. The rib sauce which was always amazing, tasted diff, very generic… nothing special. The ice tea was bad. Hopefully it was just an off day.

Best place to eat in the area hands down! The ribs(only had pork) were incredible. Super tender and just the right amount of tasty sauce, most have way too much. Was a big line, but went pretty fast and was entertaining watching the huge outdoor bbq pit in high gear! Ice cream it’s good too! By 7:30 the line really died down, good time to come I think, though they close at 8.

Food was tasty but unfortunately the unbelievably rude staff will keep me from spending my money there ever again! Nasty red head at the cash register talked down to my mother, infuriated me that an employee would ever speak to a customer the way she did. With hiring young kids, you get what you pay for. I think the owners should rethink their hiring process

Don’t advertise as a «western beef company» with beef ribs on the menu and not have any. Workers were rude and pushy. Won’t be back.

Great spot for a laid back meal with a group. Best go early to avoid crowds. A friend and I split the chic and rib combo and added fries, pickle and cole slaw. Total $ 21. Plenty of food for 2. Pitcher of iced tea $ 4 split btw 4. Hit the spot!

Great atmosphere. I LOVE standing even in a long line watching the flip a huge rack of meat on the open pit grill. Not a huge menu but that’s ok. What they have is phenomenal. Great portions perfectly priced. The Chicken was juicy and tender and full off flavor. The ribs melted in my mouth and fell off the bone. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. Only complaint was they didn’t accept credit card. I don’t know if they may now but I doubt it.
