I was surprised at how good the food was here. It’s small but the people are friendly and as I said the food was awesome.

Chill! Tasty food menu, locals that hang out here give it a laid back vibe. Beer on tap has a good variety. Definitely coming back!

This place is garbage. You’d think after all the shitty reviews about there service they would do something. We sat down the bartender couldn’t bother to tell us that we had to order at the bar which is ridiculous but when I went up to ask her about the ordering situation she was too busy shoving an onion ring her mouth to even acknowledge me.

I feel this bar has a clean classy decorum and a great orientation from my work 20 but other than that everything else goes down hill real steep. The bar tenders are barely average and while they have a 1lb bacon sandwich that everyone is in awe of the food is still below average bar food. They have an exceptional selection of beers and a clean atmosphere. I just went in here last friday and ordered a lake perch basket for about $ 15 dollars and when I was eating it it tasted very odd for lake perch so I looked at the skin and it appeared to be white fish! I mean come on the same stuff you can get a dinner for $ 2 at more urban locations… Really? Whats worse is the cook came out talking smack about how he just caught it. What a fraud! Definitely worth having a beer but stay away from the food.

A few random thoughts about a bar I frequent once a month or so: This place is usually pretty crowded, which I think it a good sign. The menu has all the traditional bar standards you’d expect to see, as well as a few surprises. I like the tater tots, wings, nachos, and GIANT soft pretzel. Seriously, six of us could barely eat this delicious, doughy monster. Almost anyone will find something they like to eat, unless they’re vegan or super snobby. If you’re a vegan food snob, you should probably avoid eating at just about any NWI bar as a general rule. Trivia on Wednesday night is usually a good time, but be patient. This isn’t a fast-paced game of Sporcle. The trivia host is generally entertaining, but he definitely takes his time. The liquor options are vast, but the bartenders aren’t super knowledgeable. Case in point, one bartender was absolutely mystified when I ordered Jameson on the rocks. «That’s all? No chaser? Nothing to mix it with? Huh… never heard of that before.» And when I asked for a refill, she laughed and said, «OK, but that’s really different.» When I came in a few weeks later, she remembered me and told the other bartender about the«weird» drink I ordered. It was clear she wasn’t trying to be rude or insulting, but it still made me a bit self conscious. If you’re into craft beer, they usually have at least one or two selections on tap worth trying(I got a Hopslam last time) as well as some cans and bottles you don’t see everywhere. It might look like a Miller Lite/Coors Lite-only bar when you first walk in, but there’s enough variety to please most beer fans. There’s a separate private room in the back with a giant TV that can supposedly be reserved for small gatherings. I’ve actually tried to reserve it for my coworkers, but this seemingly simple task proved to be difficult, even though I called several days in advance. I guess you have to know one of the owners or managers. I like Flat Rock, especially for a Hammond bar, and am curious to try their breakfast menu sometime soon.

I gave it a one because I can’t go lower. When they first did the makeover I was excited and enjoyed going to the place, but slowly the appreciation for business was gone and so was the quality and service. Don’t order food here… it’s fried or on the scale of low grade dog food, also the place is gross. I had the misfortune of going to the kitchen… just nasty. And the people making the food didn’t help selling it, someone turn on the showers. Drinks seemed watered down now or just weak… makes me question the«top shelf». Atmosphere is that of a dive bar where drunks go to pass out or start a fight. There’s always a loud douche bag making a scene… and that’s men & women. If you want a fun night out, good bar food, cool environment go somewhere else. Save you stomach from the food and don’t get ripped off with the crap service & drinks.

Arrogant bartenders who are terrible at their job. They are only concerned with the single drunks who go in their to drool over them. Alcohol is expensive. Drinks are weak. Some craft beers are stale. Food is gross and so are the cooks. Also their are always off duty douche bag hammond cops there.

Usually come here for drinks but tonight we came hungry. The zucchini sticks were fried to perfection. Now I wish we didn’t get an appetizer because the portions of food are HUGE! My beef sandwich was fully loaded and came with stacks of fries. No way I could eat it all! My husband got a buffalo chicken sandwich and tater tots. He was happy that the tots were perfectly fried and his sandwich was good. Would come back here hungry again the food was great! The waitresses are always friendly and there’s usually a good crowd. Great place!

Don’t go here. Owner mike repay is a liar, he just raised everyone in lake county’s income taxes. His side job is county commissioner. Boycott this bar

Passed by here everyday, finally stopped in. We got the burger, blt sandwich, and wings. Burger was very good, blt was awesome! They really put a pound of bacon on there! and the wings were good, came with about 10 very meaty wings. The only was that I wish they were more crispy, it was kinda like eating soft goosebump skin, but they were still good. Also whoever was bartending that night, cute girl with blonde hair– I have to give her props– it was just her and it was a full house and she handled it well, and gave quick service!

Honestly, the best BLT sandwich ever! Prices are reasonable, friendly atmosphere, perfect grinders!(Not to mention the pretty faces!) Sports fans will LOVE this place. The bands that play here are awesome and sound great! Great tunes on the jukebox, too! They got a great selection of beers that you’ll be sure that they’ll have what you’re looking for. The food at Flat Rock is… interesting. They now serve breakfast Monday-Friday from 7am. There is no menu and the waitress told us they had biscuits and gravy, french toast and eggs — over easy or scrambled. Mom asked for sunny side and the waitress said the chef didn’t know how to make that. Huh? He did make them and they came with toast and bacon for $ 3.50. I ordered the BLT. It comes with — NOTKIDDING — a POUNDOFBACON!!! I don’t know how they can afford to make it for $ 6.75. Coffee was $ 1.64 but they ran out after we each had a cup so they gave us another beverage at no charge. Parking is a pain. There is a small lot and limited parking in back but the rest of the street is residental parking only. We tried to return for dinner but there was a party and it was LOUD. I have to admit the smoking is a turn off, especially at breakfast. I like the Flat Rock and will return for what looks like a great burger.

Yeah, no. I used to go here pretty regularly, but no more. Unfortunate because I really liked the place. Bad mouth me and tell me to go to Burger King on Facebook when I have an issue with how i was treated? BADBUSINESS.

I love that this place has a veggie burger on the menu. I really love that it is also cooked well and always delicious. From what I understand(I’m a vegetarian) the rest of their food is pretty top notch too. My friends always get burgers and wings here. They have a great assortment of beer and even have Framboise on tap. Trivia on Wednesdays, live music on the weekends. The place is pretty chill and the bartenders are always really friendly.

Best bar in NW Indiana. Incredible prices on both food and drink. Lovely atmosphere more reminiscent of a neighborhood bar in a trendy Chicago neighborhood than anything you’d expect to find in NW Indiana.

The place to be. Good people, good drinks, good food. Please, if you’re there during lunch, don’t start playing your stupid music on the jukebox. The rest of us are there to enjoy a li’l break from work/school, we don’t need your Papa Roach. If you can’t find something you like on tap, they probably have Dragon’s Milk in a bottle. Do it.

Unlike most bars in Hammond, this one is modern and is a cool place. Kitchen closes early, but would go again.
