A Makeup Queens play ground!!! Every time I go there they are well stocked with the latest in the makeup & hair world. I recently went to restock my Mario Badescu Rose Water Facial Spray(I could bathe in this stuff!!!) and left with 2 of those and a bunch of other items that I «needed». Small towns like Hammond don’t have a Sephora(I would love it if we did) but Ulta is a great replacement. Sometimes their cashiers are a little snooty, but I recognize it and give the snoots right back.

The other day my wife said«Eddie V. You need a haircut!» I replied«no thanks, I got my Cubs hat to hold my hair back at work.» She then said«Ed, go get a hair cut! Go to Ulta, my friend recommended it to me.» «Ok…» So I went to Ulta to get a hair cut. I called to make an appointment the day before and I was quoted $ 45 for a hair cut, which I think is a little over kill to begin with… but whatever. So I made an appointment for the next day, which was a Saturday. I got to my appointment(hardly anyone else was in the salon, or the whole store for that matter) and sat down immediately with who I later found out was the«super expert stylist» or someone, but I don’t remember her name. She was really busy gossiping with the younger stylists there the whole time, and didn’t seem to take her time listening to how I wanted my hair cut. In fact, I was in and out like that! Usually that’s a bonus, however, she didn’t really take the time to cut my hair how I had originally asked her to, and I felt ignored and rushed throughout the whole service. I felt I was like the«uncool dad» type to them, so they didn’t treat me like I was a hip, paying-too-much-for-your-hair-services kinda guy. C’mon, anyone who knows me know that I can piss and moan about how ugly that bitches eyebrows are, just as much as the next guy. So after I was rushed out of the hair cut chair with a poorly styled do, I was given my receipt by the boss lady and sent up front. I honestly wasn’t even too crazy about my new hair cut at all, but she didn’t seem to care when I mentioned how I would like the front cut a little differently. When I got to the register I was told that for coming in today I got a free lotion, then I noticed that my cut was $ 65!!! I asked why it was not the $ 45 I had been quoted, and they called a manager up and no one knew anything, so they sent me back to ask the chick who cut my hair what the deal was. So I went back to her and said«excuse me… why was I charged $ 20 more than the price I was quoted over the phone?» She replied«oh, that’s because I’M the grand master stylist here(or something to that effect), and getting your hair cut by ME costs more!» «Ok, great. Can I please get the price I was quoted? I mean, it would have been nice if someone would have informed me beforehand that by picking the time that was most convenient for me I would be placed with the stylist who charges more than usual… not that I’m not willing to pay, I just don’t appreciate this surprise.» Needless to say, I didn’t get anywhere, and someone didn’t get a tip. Ulta; not worth the trouble. AND I never got my free lotion.

I love it. This is the only place I get my hair cut at. I also buy my shampoo, makeup and fragrance here. I love Ulta.
