Go here! No, seriously, do it. The customer service is always great and adds to the enjoyment as you peruse the wide variety of pastries available. The cupcakes(Canoli, Strawberry shortcake, etc) are well priced for their size and quality, you’ll want 4 to really be able to sample the difference in flavors. The irish car bomb brownies? I can’t even explain… no words… absolutely delicious(still doesn’t do them justice).

A year ago, my husband and I would have rated this place higher. That was when we got really good cupcakes that were fresh there. In the interim, my brother in law got a huge red velvet cake from there for his wife’s 40 th birthday and the cake was so dry would could barely stomach it. Well, we thought we would give them a second chance, so, when we knew we were having guests over for wine and dessert, I got 5 cupcakes from there at about $ 3 a cupcake(they are pretty big). I asked the young girl behind the counter which ones were freshest and she contended that they all were. Right. I got red velvet, coconut, chocolate with cream cheese icing, a banana pudding cupcake, and a «French toast» cupcake with bacon crumbles on top. We cut them up and served them, and the only one that was moist was the chocolate one. So disappointed. You could tell my guests didn’t care for them either. I had so many pieces left over. The piece de resistance was supposed to be the French toast one And all it seemed to have was extra nutmeg in it. Not good. Maybe Ms. Jones should sample her cupcakes on a daily basis to make sure the ones in the case are not beyond their shelf life. The icing was never an issue, but, wow, the cake part was like the Sahara. So sad because the actual store is really cute. If you want a better cupcake than this, head down Bellevue Ave in town. I have gotten fresher cupcakes there. I just want to note that this review is only for From Scratch’s cake items. I have never had anything else from there.

Wow! What an incredible surprise!!! My sister’s recent baby shower brought me back home to South Jersey. I was being pulled back and forth between Superfresh and Vet’s Bakery with my mom who was trying to decide on one of those«novelty» cakes. After the third trip, I got fed up because 1) they were all tacky and 2) I *KNEW* they would taste like crap. I pulled out my best friend iPhone, and just typed«bakery» into maps. Much to my surprise, one popped up IN Hammonton(where we were) with a really cute name, «From Scratch Pastry Boutique». We hopped in the car and headed straight for it. We walked into what is a REALLY cute boutique bakery! We were greeted by brown and tasteful amounts of pink throughout, tables and cute couches, and shelves of cupcakes, cookies, and pies. A woman behind the counter gave us a friendly hello, and proceeded to tell us all about the bakery. We explained what we were looking for and she proceeded to give us some great recommendations. We could choose between a 10-inch cake, or a sheet cake… She also told us about the different size cupcakes they make — regular, and little shooters! Cool! We took a menu home to look over… Unlike all of the other places that need 2-weeks notice, From Scratch only needed 48 hours notice, so we could take our time to decide what we wanted! They had many fun flavors, and we ended up going with the Lemonade 10-inch cake, and about two dozen«shooter» cupcakes, a mix of vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake. We picked everything up the morning of the shower, and the cake was super tasteful decoration-wise. I put a picture of it up. They didn’t do anything tacky like baby rattles or anything, very simple and very beautiful. I loved it. Most importantly, EVERYONE loved the cake! They all went nuts for it! And I agree — it was absolutely delicious. For the cake and the cupcakes it was roughly $ 50, and well worth it. The quality blew the competition out of the water, and I’m so excited that there is a place like this in Hammonton. They also serve coffee and tea, as well as plenty of treats for you to sit down and enjoy… I can’t wait to be able to give them more of my business/recommend them to all of my friends and family that still live in the area. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars — The second time we went in to actually PLACE the order, there was a young girl there, maybe 16 – 18, who clearly hated her life working there. It was really awkward talking to her, and it felt like pulling teeth getting her to answer our questions. I don’t ask for much as a consumer, but something as simple as a smile goes a long way!!!
