The Maplewood in Hammonton is the best Italian food in south jersey. Their garlic bread is so delicious. They are usually busy on the weekends but if you can’t eat in, take out it great too. Their house salad is also great. The service is great and the food just like grandma use to make!

LOVE this place! We always come here after our Batsto walks. Their food is excellent, fresh, and incredibly reasonable. I usually get pasta, but once ordered the pork chops… wow, they were incredible. Their salad is great, as is the fresh bread. Also, PLEASE order«Karen’s Cake»…the chocolate one with the whipped cream icing!!! To die for! Staff is ALL super friendly, like the family you WISH you had!

We love this place! I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad meal here. The atmosphere is wonderful — lively and pleasant. Our daughters were visiting from Dallas, and we thought they’d enjoy it here. They certainly did! We came early on a Monday evening for dinner, so it was not as busy as it is on the weekends. We were able to get a table in the bar area(our preference for seating) and had a wonderful dinner. We all had pasta/seafood dishes — delicious! The salad and bread were very good, and as usual, the service didn’t let us down. I don’t remember ever having anything other than pasta here, so that is what I recommend. Although, I do prefer the red sauce(specifically, arrabiata) over the white. Not that the white sauce is bad, but the red just is that good!

We were shocked how busy it was at 4:15 on a Sunday and afterwards we now know why– Excellent food, very reasonably priced, and spot on service. Highly recommend. All four meals were perfect!

Love the Maplewood! The food is delicious! My only complaint is the front lobby is always jam packed so waiting on a table can get uncomfortable. But the food is great and pricing is reasonable, so it’s worth the tight quarters while waiting to be seated.

We had our annual Retirees Christmas Luncheon here on 12/15/2015. The service was excellent. Our wait staff were professional, cheerful and efficient. Now for the meal, it was awesome, salad was crisp light and delicious, The bread was fresh, not stale. For the main course, I had the scallops with homemade spaghetti in a red sauce. DELICIOUS !!! I caught myself using bread to sop up the remains sauce. I will be back, that’s a given !!!

We had lunch here this past Sunday. Excellent service and delicious food. I had to get my old standby lobster fra diavolo with homemade macaroni. Other entrees were Cavatelli Franco, Manicotti with Meatballs, Chicken Arugula salad. We had calamari and roasted peppers/provolone as an app. We never experience a hiccup when we are at this restaurant and the food is super tasty and homemade. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Staff polite. Spaghetti definitely not the best in the area. Our spaghetti was cooked in the same pot/pan as fish, and tasted every bit like fish. Inedible. Meatballs were okay. Garlic bread was atrocious. Looked very good until the first bite… then the realization hit us that this was reused Italian garlic bread from a previous client dinner. Pretty certain this is against the law. We sought this restaurant out on purpose as we are new to the area. Still willing to try the Black Horse Pike location but the White Horse Pike one is stuffy, crowded, and definitely overpriced. The one highlight was a white bread roll with sesame seeds that was fantastic. Sad to say that a white roll was the highlight of a $ 20 dinner, but we are not accustomed to paying $ 20 for a white roll. Thumbs down!

This restaurant was recommended by several friends. I was seated right away, waitress was pleasant and efficient. I ordered and she brought my salad, which was fresh, a loaf of bread and garlic bread. I had the eggplant parmigiano. The sauce was great, eggplant a little too bready but otherwise very good.

This restaurant is great. The food is awesome, the service is amazing however they don’t have many waiters so it’s a bit slow however they are very friendly and welcoming! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if your within 1 hour of its location it’s worth the detour or whoever you may need to take to get to it it’s awesome!

Ordered my meal. The wrong meal came out. I said«thats jot what I ordered«the waitress said. «cant you just eat this»? I couldn’t believe it. Also. if you want to have your silverware taken from you before your done eating, this is the place for you. Always feel rushed when we go here. Food is good but always rushed. Long waits also.

Not a bad place. Not the super duper marvelous, wonderful, superb place I hear people brag about. If you are in the area, it is worth a visit. It is not worthy of the 27 mile drive and 40 minute wait. Food is average at best.

After years of driving by this business on the way to our beach house, we decided to stop in last night. From the smell in the parking lot, my wife and I believed we were in for a treat. Alas, we never made it far enough to sample the fare. Upon entering, we were told there was a 45 minute wait. The bar area was packed and this seemed reasonable given it was a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and grabbed a few drinks from a very nice female bartender(Jen, I think). After about 60 minutes of waiting, I walked over to the hostess stand to see where we were in line. By this time, everyone who was seated at the bar when we first got there had been seated for dinner. A new group of people were now at the bar and I saw patrons who came in long after us being seated. Upon looking at the«list», I found several names crossed out who had indeed come in long after us. After another 15 minutes and two more parties being seated who arrived after us, I returned the pager to the male who had taken our names. I informed him we had been waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes, all the while he was seating parties who came in long after we did. His response, «You’re next». No thanks pal… I regret spending the money I did at the bar and I’m sure as heck not going to give you any more of my money. The female bartender was very apologetic and offered to get us take out food. Maybe she should be working the hostess stand and the guy could bus some tables. I wish I could review the food as it smelled very good, but the«front house» ruined this visit for us and we will not be returning or recommending the business as a result. To be clear, I understand that 45 minutes can mean 60 minutes on a busy night in a restaurant. What is unacceptable is skipping over patrons who have been waiting for well over an hour with no explanation. Maybe they didn’t care to seat us because we were not«regulars» or patrons over the age of 60.

Went to Maplewood Inn on a first date, it was in between the 2 of us and judging by the reviews on this site we chose this place to go to. For a Wednesday night, the place was very busy, which to me made for a good sign for the quality. We checked in and waited about 15 minutes, perfectly acceptable. We were seated and our server came for our order, she was friendly. I ordered the Eggplant Parm. Mind you I grew up loving Eggplant and usually only have Eggplant if my grandfather made it or if we went to Olive Garden, as other places couldn’t compare. After 1 bite i fell in love with this dish! Excellent portion size for the price and good amount of pasta which came with it. All in all I would come back to Maplewood Inn again in a heartbeat

Homemade pasta is the best I’ve ever had. Veal parmigiana is handmade and hand breaded-great gravy. Family style salad bowl – good fresh bread. Their meatballs are so good-there’s no point in ever making your own at home! Never had a bad meal or an uncaring waitress here.

My mother started at the Maplewood Inn around 25 years ago, partly due to my impending birth, and from my time as a spaghetti slurping infant to an admittedly spaghetti slurping 24 year old man child, I’ve yet to have better Italian food. I really can’t even begin to thank the ‘Wood enough for the sense of community given, the full bellies I’ve received(maybe a few too many honestly), and the giant snifter full of after-dinner mints. My regular meals there include the Tilapia, the Broccoli & Shrimp and the Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo. Also, the Seafood Bisque is easily the best I’ve had outside of Boston.

Joe Italiano’s was the best Italian restaurant I have been to in a while. My dad has been a faithful patron for quite a few years, and said the homey ambiance hasn’t changed in decades. Thankfully, neither have the recipes or quality of the food, which were spot on. Let’s talk about this bread for a second. They give you rolls and garlic bread, which was most appreciated. They were both delicious, like bread in an Italian restaurant should be! For an app we ordered calamari. Calamari is a fickle mistress, since there’s nothing worse than rubbery overlooked calamari. But Joe Italiano’s definitely got it right. It was tender and delicious, one of the best I’ve ever had. The marinara on the side was pretty great too, the sauce had a nice spicy quality to it that made it unique and delicious. I ordered shrimp and broccoli over penne in a garlic olive oil sauce. The menu said it is a Joe Italiano’s favorite, and I can see why. It was simple and delicious. I love garlic, so it was perfect. The shrimp were great quality too. Just simple, delicious Italian perfection! To top it off, our waiter was super cute. I will certainly be returning the next time I find myself in this part of town!
