Pender Pines is a beautiful Garden Center, with quality plants. That being said, your shopping experience should be a pleasurable one, right? I have shopped there enough to tell you that 9 out of 10 times will be FRUSTRATING. Today was one of those days. I walk in the shop with a couple of plants to purchase, and see a woman painting something for display. She didn’t even look up to greet me, but glanced over and said, «are you ready?». I replied that I was not yet finished, and asked about the Amaryllis Bulbs. She answered, but appeared annoyed. Went back outside, and found a $ 50 planter. It had a scratch, so I asked if they had anymore. I was told, «whatever is over there(she points), is all we have». I asked if there could be anything done for the blemish? She said she really didn’t see it, then grabbed her glasses. Told her it was a gift, and wanted to know the return policy, in case the recipient did’t like it. She replied, «30 days». I questioned the timing, since it is a Christmas gift, and Christmas is over 30 days away. What do I do? She snapped, «just make sure it’s before January 1st». After all that, I was never offered any help out to my car, and the planter weighs at least 30 pounds. Don’t really know why she had such a bad attitude!!! Sadly, I have encountered this before at Pender Pines, with her, and an older man. They appear bothered that you are there, and you are supporting their local business!!! Oh, and while she was ringing me up… cha ching… she was socializing(and laughing) with some woman she seemed to know. This woman would not make it in the real world of retail!!! I get treated better at a «big box» store. This business needs an attitude adjustment!!!

The older lady with curly hair has been nothing but rude both times we’ve visited this store. We’re new to gardening, so naturally we have lots of questions. But she responded with short rude comments making us feel stupid. Thanks lady

Don’t buy from them! I purchased several hundred dollars worth of bushes from this garden center. We opted to buy from them because they were a local business, even paying more than the prices of the home centers to do so. We were told at the time by two sales people that the plants were covered by a one year warranty. After about six months one of the very expensive bushes started to die. All the other bushes flourished so we know it wasn’t anything we did. We returned the plan to Pender Pines with receipt in hand, they told us the one year warranty only applied if they planted the bushes, not us. So basically, we paid more than we would have at one of the big box stores, got less of a warranty, and was treated callously. My advice, buy your plants from someone else, you’ll pay less and get a better guarantee with less hassle.
