Absolutely loved this spot. Service, prices, everything. Wife and I had lobster. So good.

Usually, I hate lobster rolls. You expect it to be amazing, but it’s underwhelming, cold, or just flavorless. That doesn’t happen here. Instead, the lobster roll is from the gods — easily the best I’ve had anywhere, served with delicious, crispy fries. We also arrived right after they closed(8pm on off-seasons in the Hamptons), and they were more than willing to still accommodate us. Great service.

I have been here 4 times on my vacation – they sell seafood to go, or you can eat here. I absolutely loved their stuffed scallops, and their clams and oysters are local and as fresh as you can get without getting them yourself. I had a 4 pound lobster here, and it was prepared perfectly and the price was ridiculously cheap! They have some great beers to accompany your meal, if you choose to eat in, & the staff are very friendly and well-informed. If you are in the Hamptons on vacation, this is the place to get your frutte de mare.

OMG, they are so nice here., even the seafood are so well behaved. So much fresh moving seafood for you to devour. It’s like going to the aquarium and getting to eat whatever you point at. A fish monger and restaurant rolled into one. Pick what you want, tell them how many pounds you want to gorge on, and they take care of the rest. Prices are insane for such lively, proactive seafood. It’s like the draft picks, and I get to choose from Lebron, Jordan, Bird, Magic, etc. Our table ended up like a seafood massacre — crime scene turned cemetary. It wasn’t pretty at all., what me and my girl friend did to all those, previously moving — cute and cuddly seafood, was not at all nice. We had a blast!!!

What a fun, casual and tasty find in Hampton Bays. If you’re looking for a fun place to experience some fresh seafood, look no further. Your meal swims in pools beside the front counter, and you can even pick your lobster. The employees were young, friendly and helpful, and the food was fresh and abundant. I opted for the fried variety, and I loved it. My server later came back to ask me how I liked his recommendation, and I appreciated his interest in me and my satisfaction. Cool spot.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice. The first time I went was last year the lady that worked there was very nice and once we sat she took our order, all the food is delicious. The second time I came here was labor day weekend, We sat down for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come take our order until finally I went up to the cashier and asked, which then he told me that you order here then sit down and they bring you the food… woops. Guess things changed. I also recommend sitting outside if you can because the flies are annoying inside. Definitely try the baked clams, new England clam chowder, and the lobster mac and cheese. The burger, waffle fries and raw oysters get a plus from me to!

On Aug 7, 2015 for lunch my daughter ordered the po-boy oyster sandwich and I got the soft shell crab sandwich sauteed in wine. Both were awful and we should have sent them back but did not for some reason. Crab had no flavor of crab and was probably not fresh, same w the oysters. Very disappointing. Doubtful that I’ll ever try this place again. Not sure what you have to do to avoid situations like this. If things are of questionable freshness they should simply take them off the menu and not serve them. Very poor quality control. We ate outside.

Omg, this is our first time here since this restaurant opened. If you want to get that fresh fish Hampton experience, this needs to be one of your stops! We had the fresh steamers… I asked for them large and that’s how they came!!! I love the large steamers over small, they are easier to clean and eat. Then we had the fresh cold lobster roll that was overstuffed. I had the soft shell crabs which were 2 crabs served on a roll with lettuce and tomatoes and a side of walks fries!, we had a great time and enjoyed out so for lunch. Check this place out!

Just what we were looking for in the Hamptons! It’s a sit-down/seafood-to-go restaurant and a fish store with lots of options. We picked up lunch here on our way back to NYC. I opted for a crab cake sandwich, which comes with waffle fries. Some restaurants do not get crab cakes right but Out of the Blue got it perfect! There were two crab cakes in my sandwich and they were probably the best I’ve ever had. I also tried some of my friend’s calamari(comes with marinara sauce) and it was also delicious. It also helped that the guy who took our order was really attractive and nice! When we were waiting for our order, we looked around at the different seafood tanks. they have all their seafood and some to go food out on display. Also saw a sign that there are children petting tanks?! There’s also a small bookshelf with books about seafood(of course). I flipped through one about what sushi chefs learn during their training. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come back often to try more menu items and if I’m back in the area, I’ll definitely return!

I give Out of the Blue three stars. It is an average of 4 as a fish store and 2 as a restaurant. The fish is definitely fresh and reasonable for the Hamptons. The style of cooking is very basic – fried, steamed or grilled with tarter or cocktail sauce. I wish there were better seafood restaurants around here that were also reasonable.

Wow. Fresh simple seafood. Generous portions. — Lobster Bake comes with a «side» of mussels, clams, steamers and shrimp. Comes with baked potatoes and corn. — Fried clams aren’t bad but nothing you haven’t had before. — Other non-seafood options — Burgers are really good. Waffle fries are delicious. Chicken Fingers are crisp and fresh also. — Order and pick up at the front. Picnic tables. Very casual environment.

I stopped by with a large group a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time! I was the only vegetarian in the group and was very pleasantly surprised to find a bunch of vegetarian options – I had a delicious artichoke quinoa salad, corn on the cob, and addicting waffle fries. Other group favorites were the lobster(of course), clams, and smoked fish platter. They also got crab cakes to go, which made for an excellent brunch the next day. I know next to nothing about seafood, but there’s no question that everything here is super fresh and the owners know what they’re doing! Also worth mentioning – awesome beer selection and friendly, chatty staff. We’ll be back on our next trip to Hampton Bays!

The Manhattan clam chowder was totally awesome!!! The fried clams had too much breading for me. Now the steamed mussels were just off the chain. Plentiful and they came with a draught beer!!! What makes the place is the hostess/waitress Bobbie. She is just a great positive and knowledgeable lady that makes you feel at home. The cooks are great as well!!! Open all year too!!!

So, we were heading back to our humble abode in the Hudson Valley after a great weekend in Montauk over Easter Weekend, the end of the off-season, when we stumbled upon this place. We were a small band of hungry soldiers, kinda glum about not fully getting our fresh seafood craving satisfied while in Montauk(loads of closed restaurants), and really not about dropping loads of cash at one of the many fancy-pants restaurants in the Hamptons, when… Can you say, Prayers Answered?! Thank you, Jesus! I admit, the place didn’t look like the seafood shrine that it is, so we definitely had to Unilocal it in advance. Yep, we’re parking lot Unilocalers. We admit it. And truth be told, we were surprised to see so many stars. Let’s get right to it: the couple next to us ordered the lobster dinner for two, and it looked amazing! The other table next to us ordered steamers, and they seemed pretty happy. Beloved ordered the lobster roll, and she couldn’t believe how fresh it was. Wunderkind, who’s vegetarian, nommed on the mozzarella sticks, corn and waffle fries. She enjoyed her meal, though she did say that she’d welcome an expanded assortment of vegetarian options. Hey, just putting that out there. Those who have ears shall hear. I feasted on some of the freshest fish and chips EVER. I’m talking fresh, flaky, juicy… a touch of tartar, slaw and corn made it a wonderful lunch. Did I say fresh? And those waffle fries are addicting! The’ve got some solid beers on tap, too. May I suggest the IPA by the Montauk Brewing Co? They’ve also got a nice red ale on tap, too: Lobster Ale, from Maine, which paired nicely with my fish and chips. A guy, who I imagine was the owner/chef, came around to see how things were. Heads up: he says they make a mean paella! Overall, this was arguably the best meal of our vacation. We had been searching for a bit of lunch and got a taste of some of the best seafood around. I’d recommend this place for a real nice sit down with friends and family. Enjoy!

Right on Montauk hwy. just before the Shinnecock Canal. heading east is Out of the Blue. a good sized seafood place with fresh seafood cooked or uncooked take out or sit down service. Casual. Out of the Blue is the new name of former Brewsters. People love seafood out here and so do tourists. but the tourists leave in winter. and most seafood places close shop. Only a few remain open. Out of the Blue like Brewsters before it, stays open in the cold winter. bringing you fresh seafood, and chowder takeout or table service. They had the best Manhattan clam chowder out here before the switch and seemed to have maintained either the recipe, chef or both! Its great.

New owners are really trying to make this a «go to» spot for lunch or dinner in Hampton Bays. They are doing a great job, friendly staff, good service and lets not forget about the food. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh seafood, Love the Lobster Roll. Little Neck Clams are melt in your mouth. Steamers are fantastic. Great Fish Taco. The smoked fish is the best. I buy fresh seafood to cook at home, always on the money, and fairly priced. Keep up the good work guys, your doing Hampton Bays proud.

On a recent trip to NYC we decided to take a little day trip. Having a car in the city is a rare luxury, and away we went deep into Long Island. Naturally, once the Atlantic was in clear sight I had one thing on the mind. Seafood. Out Of The Blue had a coveted five star average on my fave app, and we were sold. The chatty friendly woman serving us was incredibly welcoming. Like, I wanted to take her with us and have her be my fast-talking, wise aunt forevermore. I heart her. But enough about the hospitality… what about the food?! We dined on their white chowder, a lobster roll and a bucket of steamers. Everything was impossibly fresh and well-seasoned. The bucket of steamers were a real treat with a drawn butter side and the knowledge those suckers had been in the ocean down the street just a few hours ago. Beyond the lunch treats, this place sells raw seafood to take home and has a touch tank for children who want to pet their future dinners. If you’re in The Hamptons and are buying seafood or feeling a home-cooked lunch, this is your place. Even if there are 50 lobster shacks closer to you, come here, you won’t regret it!

Went here with a friend for a nice lobster lunch to celebrate him getting an A is his computer science course. I recommend the lobster, whether it’s to eat it there or take it home and cook it yourself. The lobsters in the tank are quite energetic and even tastier once they hit the plate, a bit expensive, but that’s lobster. They have both a dine in and carry out option. The next time I visit the Hamptons, I’ll make it a point to visit here. Just to clear up some potential confusion: as of now, their sign reads«Brewster’s Seafood.» Ownership has changed and they’re now Out of the Blue; signage should be changed shortly according to them so if the Brewster’s sign is gone, please let me know and I’ll take this piece of the review out.
