C J’s Tattoo Emporium

They get 1 star only because Doug gave me a small piece a couple years ago that I’m still very happy with, but it was a print and stick. I came in recently looking to get a fairly large cover up done, and was referred to an artist named Larry. We spoke briefly of some ideas and he took a picture of my existing tattoo and agreed to have something drawn up by the following week. I wasn’t asked to leave a deposit which I thought was a little strange. By the day we had arranged to meet I text him to make sure we were good and he asked for more time. I was understanding and we agreed on another week. Then I never heard from him again. I just found the whole experience to be so off putting and unprofessional that I never went back to ask questions. I also had artists scoff rudely at ideas that I offered. I was really disappointed, and I won’t be recommending them anymore. Found a much better artist elsewhere.

This place is great. I dont know what that one review was talking about. This shop is full of great artists. I wont go anywhere else. As far as saying people were rude I have never had a problem at all. I belive if you go anywhere and have a bad attitude than you are more likely to get attitude back.

Could I give this place zero stars? Apparently that’s not an option, but I think they deserve it. First, I went in with a relatively intricate design I wanted done and not only did the guy who was doing my tattoo scoff immediately, but his coworkers noted it and very audibly said «pft, good luck with that.»
Whatever, I simplified it, but even my simplification proved to be too difficult for the guy. And after he stumbled back in from a twenty minute cigarette, I realized homeboy was drunk. I should have walked out right then but for whatever stupid reason, I stayed.
Not only did I end up getting a LINE DRAWING, which is about as simple as it gets, but I left with a pretty pathetic excuse for what I wanted and now I have a very poorly done tattoo on my body permanently. I guess that’s my own fault for letting a drunk dude tattoo me, but still…
It’s also worth mentioning that there were other tattoo artists in the shop that were much more competent than the guy who did mine, but they were all very rude and one of them was doing a rather large rib piece on a girl while he had poison sumac on his arms. Health code violation? I should have called because that little number probably would have gotten this sad shop shut down, and it probably should be.
