This place is a Hampton jewel. It is a specialty wine supermarket that has a food counter for soup, sandwiches, and side dishes. You might ask, so why is it a jewel? First it is in downtown Hampton. So any time there is a downtown Hampton event, it is there… with a perfect bottle of reasonably-priced wine waiting for me. Secondly, if there isn’t anything planned for Friday night, they have a free wine tasting. The proprietor, Luis, is very knowledgeable about wine and will be happy to recommend a bottle or two. My wife and I stop in regularly… it is a great place to unwind.

La Bodega is a Hampton Roads mainstay. They provide an awesome array of custom sandwiches, salads and desserts. The wine selection is international and amazing. If you prefer beer of any type, they likely have something that suits you as well. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on the selection of foods and libation. My favorite is the salad platter, deviled eggs and greek salad. The sandwiches are prepared on fresh baguettes with flavorful meats, cheeses and unique dressings. The King George is my favorite sandwich and it pairs very well with porter.

First visit, very friendly and speedy service. Plenty of options to choose from, I got the wednesday special which was the prince Edward, and I added lettuce and tomato. Pretty friendly area, wine selections as well as beer. Will be back soon!

This place has changed management several times in recent years. The sandwiches are skimpy, overpriced and appear as if they have been made by a mad second grader. I went there for lunch and I was so disappointed and disgusted with the looks of my sandwich that I sent it back and didn’t re-order. The manager didn’t have sense or interest enough to try to correct the problem and the female cashier seemed to be offended that I asked for a refund on a sandwich I didn’t eat. I don’t expect that they will be in business/under the same management too much longer if they don’t make some drastic changes.

I love this place. I can’t call it a small shop because it is pretty big. This place is perfect for a nice midday lunch with coworkers or friends. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and sides to choose from in addition to a great dessert selection. The interior of La Bodega is surrounded by walls of wine and a standing wall cooler full of microbrews, soft drinks, juices and water. One of the best tasting menu items is the curry chicken salad. It is absolutely awesome. I usually pair that with a bag of kettle chips and a drink. If I have any room left after my meal, I’ll pick up a piece of lemon mist cake or a brownie. The dining area is inviting and the staff is friendly. Not a bad place to sit, relax and enjoy an afternoon in downtown Hampton.

Great selection of sandwiches and deli items to choose from, fresh baked bread and very reasonable prices. The friendly staff and nice relaxing atmosphere make this the perfect place to get away for lunch.

This is a hidden gem in downtown Hampton. Excellent sandwiches on fresh bread. They also have an extensive selection of sides(such as pasta salad and deviled eggs) and a very good selection of beer and wine.

Cute local sandwich/wine shop in downtown Hampton. The sandwiches are mostly traditional deli sandwiches(turkey, roast beef, ham, chicken salad, etc.) served on soft French bread– nothing too inventive. Most sandwiches were about $ 5 – 7. You can take home a loaf of bread for $ 1.99. They also have a nice variety of deli sides, such as pasta salad, deviled eggs, fruit salad, etc. Desserts are single serve slices of cake, cheesecake, brownie, etc. for about $ 2 – 4 each. Gigantic drink selection, both alcoholic and non. You order at the register, grab a seat, and they call your name when your sandwich is ready. The three people working there were nice and my food didn’t take more than 5 minutes. Outdoor seating and soft music made for a lovely weekday lunch. They get an extra star based on atmosphere. I’ve been here twice and it can get busy.
