The young lady who owns the store and running it was very sweet. The bad reviews must be for another owner.

This is the farthest place west in the United States to get a COLDBEER. You have to put this place on your bucket list to drop by and get a single Longboard lager. The ice box with the singles is really turned up cold and you won’t be disappointed in the beer for a road beer. As for the other reviews on their feelings being hurt by the mean rude lady. Boo-hoo and just be real person and be real as some places should be treated as someones home and this is one of those places.

I had to check out this place just because of all of the atrocious reviews below! Maybe ownership, or something, has changed because the woman behind the counter seemed friendly enough. Just fine. The store is pretty barrenly stocked. The very basics and nothing else more. We bought a can of coke for $ 1.25. Otherwise, they seem to have some snacks, beer, t-shirts, and flippers to rent. The little sushi restaurant and art gallery next door are cute. All in all, a charming little stop off at nearly the end of the road.

Basically, without going into the details, you will thank me if you decide not to shop here. Because the owner is a very rude woman. I ran into a friend in her store, and she barked at us to take our conversation outside. It was embarassing, rude, and unnecessary.

My wife and I were buying two soft drinks after hiking in the area today. I didn’t mind that it was $ 5.25 for two root beers, because we really wanted them. But when I put down a $ 20, two dimes and five pennies, the woman behind the counter said«no pennies. Look at the sign. No pennies. I haven’t taken pennies in years.» Like an idiot, I went ahead and gave her a nickel instead. We should have walked out. I’m sure it’s illegal to refuse to take pennies. As we left, my wife told me, «I thought Hawaiians were supposed to be friendly. Not this one.» I can’t imagine how she stays in business.

The lady who owns this store is seriously unpleasant… Don’t waste your time here. Went in today with our family, she targeted my niece and asked her to leave for no reason. When we put down our purchases and said we were not going to shope here she started swearing and screaming at us… I hear she’s on drugs

Surrealistically bad experience. Our family walked into this store after visiting Tunnels and Haena this afternoon, and the lady running the store began picking on first me then my niece and several other members of our family, just a typical local family, and pretty well-behaved I might add. The moment she began telling my niece to «go outside»(for what reason? we don’t know), and critiqued our entering her store, we simply said«that’s OK, we don’t need to shop here». She began following us out of her store, and she kept up the insults. We began to respond in kind, and she(get this) flipped us off, started yelling obscenities in front of the kids and the other patrons, and insults about our family. We were so upset and angered by this incident that we will never go back to this store, ever, and recommend that anyone visiting Kauai avoid this store like the plague. According to one local who was shopping, «she’s like that». If she is, I have no idea what she’s doing in a job where she comes into contact with the public. Ridiculous. And expensive. We walked into a similar mom-and-pop place in Hanalei and had an exact opposite – i.e. wonderful – shopping experience with a kindly lady who was quite willing to take our business.

It’s like the North Shore’s version of a 7 – 11. So… way better and way more charming. It’s literally the last place to pick up anything you might need before you get to Ke’e Beach(and a surfboard out front tells you so). Look for a rustic and cute little beach shack on the left of the highway as you head towards Ke’e. Aside from the typical Pringles and Arizona tea, you can find more«island» style conveniences like macadamia trail mix or ribbons of dried, sugared coconut. You can rent or buy snorkel gear here for the beach — weather permitting for the rentals, tho, because if the surf is too rough they won’t rent to you. The lady who runs the place was nice and wished us a Mele Kelikimaka on our way out the door, arms laden with Kalalau trail snacks and Ke’e Beach staples.
