We love the hitching post — especially the tavern. Great menu — plenty of options and very reasonably priced. Dined there this evening — hubby had the meatloaf, daughter — the salmon and I had steak. All were pleased with our selections. Rolls and honey butter were delicious as well. Service is always excellent. Two thumbs up!

My wife and I have been here twice around 8pm Friday night. Plenty of parking, good friendly crowd, we sat at the bar, good service, great food and specials, we loved the seafood stuffed mushrooms, nice décor, soft live music in the corner, large TV behind the bar, very reasonable prices. We’ll be regulars now.

Owner and staff are excellent and friendly. Best Lobster Salad Rolls around!!! Love the cozy bar. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is I wish they had shrimp scampi on the menu. Joan

Had a post golf tourney dinner here yesterday. They helped put together a nice and reasonably priced menu. Food was excellent and service was top notch. I have eaten here several times and food is always good. My family has also had several other functions here and each time has been great. I am embarrassed it took me this long to write a review. I would highly recommend for a meal or function!

We were just at your establishment. A very nice young man began to seat us and they needed to redress the table. We were asked to wait in the hallway between the restaurant and bar while they changed it. While we waited a woman came by upset that we were being seated and stormed off(would later find out her name is Andrea). The woman who asked us to wait came back to inform us she would tell Andrea she was seating us and who comes around the corner but the woman who stormed off earlier seating someone else at the table we were shown and waiting for. She attempts to stick us at another table in the corner… we declined and walked out stating we are all set. There was no explanation or apology for why she gave our table away. It was RUDE and unprofessional. Perhaps if she made even the smallest attempt at customer service we would have stayed. We may try your restaurant again as we were looking forward to it. However, if we walk in the door and she is there — I will turn around and walk out again.

Excellent Restaurant! My family and friends frequent here often. The menu has lots of variety and they offer great specials for dinner. Breakfast is also another favorite for us. The kids menu has lots of great options and the portions are perfect for the little ones. We are always greeted with a smile by the friendly hostess or the owner who is always so welcoming to us. The atmosphere is my favorite, very simple and elegant. Waitresses are very attentive and always accommodate any special requests. Nothing but great things to say about OHP! Love the food, staff and atmosphere and hope to continue dining here as a regular for a long time!

My wife and I wanted a simple meal out. Nothing fancy. Just some good food we didn’t have to cook. As we hadn’t eaten at the Olde Hitching Post yet, we checked the reviews and the menu. It looked to fit what we were after. But for the first time in my life, we got up after the first bite of the main course and left. Here’s why: We arrived around 7.45pm on a Friday night. The restaurant parking lot was crowded — always a good sign. Inside there were plenty of people at tables but it was by no means full(not surprising as we were eating late). We were seated next to a corridor to the bar where there was live music playing … Competing with the piped music in the restaurant. Our waitress was friendly enough. We were left two menus on the table with no explanation. One menu looked to be printed up for dinner and was nicely presented. The other, a plastic laminated large format smörgåsbord of dishes, appeared to be a more generic bar menu. We decided to order off the dinner menu figuring the food from this menu was more likely fresh. I’d settled on the Prime Rib and my wife would have the Baked Haddock With Shrimp Newburgh sauce. When the waitress returned, my wife ordered the Haddock and I the Prime Rib. The waitress told us then that there was no Prime Rib and apologized for not telling us sooner. I settled on the same as my wife and ordered the Haddock. To start we would have the stuffed mushroom appetizer. The bread roll(2) were warm and fresh. Delicious. Although I had to ask for silverware to eat them with the honey butter. The mushrooms came out in due course. They were floating in a sea of what looked like butter and broth. The mushroom stuffing was soft mushy breadcrumb with zero flavor. Frankly I spat mine out it was so bad. The waitress came by and asked how the mushrooms were. «Terrible» was our joint response. At first she thought we were joking … «Yes, lots of people like them … «she began before realizing we were being serious. We sent them back and waited hungrily for the main course. The Haddock arrived. My wife asked me if there was another Haddock on the other menu. Apparently this is what we had been served. When the waitress was walking by we stopped her to ask if we had the Haddock we ordered. «oh, you wanted the special?». «We were looking at that menu, why would you assume we wanted something off the other menu?» I asked. I suggested that perhaps it was her responsibility to inquire of us which Haddock we would like if there was more than one available. She responded, «I didn’t know I was supposed to interpret your pointing!» And walked away. Aghast,(after all this isn’t Dicks Last Resort), I took a taste of the Haddock. It was tasteless and watery … Most likely frozen. My wife felt the same. We got up and got our coats. On the way out I pulled the manager aside to explain why we were leaving. The manager was very apologetic and understanding. She offered to make it up in some way. We declined … We’d had enough. We ended up with fast food. If you like bland, overcooked food you might like it here. If you like fresh food that has flavor, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

After Ramsey and his tv show went to Olde Hitching Post in Hanson Ma. the menu and the décor has changed for the better. Great atmosphere and the food is wicked awesome. Highly recommend eating here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After my company painted the exterior of this restaurant I have become very good friends with owners and their family. They are excellent people and truly care about their food and customers. We have our Family Christmas parties there every year now, EXCELLENTSTAFF too. Thank you :)

I am confused! What do the people of this part of mass want? The audience needs to support their local places… not demean them! I found the ‘Old Hitching Post’ brimming with great service and creative specials that arrived out of the kitchen ‘hot’ and delicious ! The tavern has plenty of bar seating for a very enjoyable culinary evening in Hanson! Support your local restaurants.

Good lunch with a super friendly nice staff starting with the owner at the hostess stand. Smiling, attentive and very friendly waitress. Good food. Good deal on the kids meals. Very affordable. Cool atmosphere also — comfortable like an old house. Good spot.
