So far I like the replacement for the Clackamas Corner library branch. There are 12 internet terminals instead of six. They are also really improved, modern terminals using Windows 7 with large monitors and they allow you to use Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome! Most library Internet terminals are stuck on IE7. There is also access to the full Microsoft Office suite and a VLC Media Player(works with almost all codecs). The new library has the same collection as the old one, but in a much larger space. Someone in a wheelchair should not have a problem browsing the stacks here. The building is a 100% remodel so it is also fully accessible. The library has both assisted and self check out stations available. There are large chalkboards that a local artist was asked to make the sketches on. Since they are in chalk, they will be washed and refreshed from time to time. The library features a brand new children’s’ section upstairs from the main branch. There are a lot of windows and sources of natural light, which are helpful in our big grey northwest weather. This library has a separate teen corner with unique furnishings and teen-oriented books and magazines. There is the same selection of newspapers and magazines available in a «browsing library» space near the check out area. There are also the old paperbacks that hold on in some libraries, including this one, available there. As with all libraries in the«LINCC» system(libraries linking Clackamas County), you can obtain materials from any other Clackamas County library in the system. Most are run by local city governments. My only complaint so far was that some of the furniture looks like it is a little ‘cheap’ and may not last for the long term. I would hope this was researched before purchasing. I also had trouble today when I connected to the WiFi. It was available, I connected, but the Internet would not load. There was no agreement to click through or any way to find assistance for this.
