Loved. This. Store. You can easily miss it, since you have to walk downwards to see the entrance, but well worth the visit. I wasn’t shopping for anything in particular — just looking around — but saw some beautiful pottery pieces with reasonable prices so I grabbed a little plate to act as a spoonrest. The lady working there was really friendly and helpful once I asked her a question, but let me just look around without harassment when I was just browsing. Next time I plan a trip to Harpers Ferry, I may break a mug before I go, just to have a reason to buy something. Truth.

Walking up the hill in the historic downtown of Harpers Ferry, I came across this little shop and thought it would be a knick-knack shop full of tourist junk. Couldn’t have been more wrong. First, everything in the shop is handmade in the USA by American craftsmen and artists. Most are from near the area. They feature fine pottery and other items, and it’s all beautiful. Truly unique and reasonably priced with a wide selection of pieces that need to seen in person to judge. We found one vase we liked and while examining it, I noticed a small blemish in the glaze. We brought it to the attention of the manager. While we were still shopping, she had called the manufacturer, told them about the blemish, and got approval to give us a 10% discount. Plus, she carefully packed our items and held them for us until we were ready to leave for the day. Westwind Potters is a truly unique gift shop and worth a visit.
