Food is absolutely amazing! The steak is always done to perfection and you get a huge piece of birthday cake if you tell them it is your birthday. My only complaints with this place include the odd parking and that it is very easy to drive past. Keep your eyes peeled or you will drive right past it. This isn’t your typical steak and seafood place. You’ll want to be at least a little dressed up to go here. But it is well worth it. Make sure you get a reservation well ahead of time as well!

Always great food and great service. Priced appropriately for the quality you will experience. Bar service is always excellent. My only complaint is in seeing other male patrons who don’t have enough manners to remove their hats in this quality establishment.

Wow! Wow! Wow! The food and service was exceptional. The prices are great. Joanne is a very attentive, not bothersome, waitress. The food was not over seasoned. What can I say, this place is just down right great.

After doing some research trying to find the best lobster tail in the area(chain restaurants not included) the Progress Grill kept on popping up. The location is in kind of a weird area for a place that gets such high reviews on their food. When you first walk in the dining area can be a little confusing but after seeing the dishes I understood why this place was recommended. I came here for the lobster tail so that’s what I ordered. Not only was it one of the best lobster tails I’ve ever in my life, it was hanging off the plate on both sides– which is amazing for how sweet and juicy it was. The only thing that I could suggest is to have it be more of a relaxed atmosphere, the food was phenomenal but just a little bit of a stuffy feel for the area. Will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes. A+++ on the lobster tail though!

Very surprised. Didn’t expect this quality based on the name… Hosted a party of 10, everyone loved it. Service was good and fast.

Amazing. The food and the service were spot on. If you want to knock points for out dated décor fine but I’ll go for the food. Lima beans were outta this world(yes, I realize that sounds contradictory). The peanut butter pie killed it. Again, five stars across the board.

I’m not sure how this place has a 3.5 star average. I have eaten here countless times over the years, and every time the food and service are fantastic. I’ve had so many different dishes I can’t remember, but I’ll say the steak and the crab cakes definitely stand out. I’ve had fine dining all over the country but there might only be 1 or 2 that I’d pick to eat at over this place.

I have always had high expectations about this place. When I finally arrived, the atmosphere upheld those expectations. It’s a very elegant, upscale dining facility. They even play classical music as opposed to a standard radio station; a nice touch in my book. Now along with the heightened sense of fine dining, I also had some speculations about their menu. I expected a range of higher-end cuisine accompanied by heftier price tags. This revealed itself to be true the instant I cracked the menu. The average price per plate here is about $ 20 – 25, but they go much higher than that; unfortunately, not much lower. My friend and I scoured the menu until we settled on the most unique, reasonably priced items we could find. We ended up settling on seafood, but if I had the chance to do it again I would like to try a steak here. I have a feeling it would be very well prepared. The food we did order was good. It wasn’t anything I would order again, but I was content and full at the end of the meal. I believe this place is a little too salty for what it boils down to. I’ll return someday for my steak, but after that I will probably do my fine dining elsewhere. At Alfred’s Victorian perhaps?

Went here on recommendation of one of our business clients who decided to treat us last night. Arrived around quarter after 9. Our party of 11 was accommodated right away. There are booths and tables plus a full bar. Décor is a little old-fashioned, but, I feel like it just makes it feel more welcoming. Was immediately brought out water and hot, fresh bread & butter. Started out with a Ketel Fire Martini and raw oysters(Blue Points). Both were great. I also sampled some fried calamari which was prepared perfectly and a huge portion as well. My main course was the broiled salmon which came my choice of sides, which, in this case was asparagus and a baked potato. Everything came out great and I needed a doggie bag in the end. I had a bit of somebody’s leftover T-bone later in the evening back at the base which was seasoned perfectly and very tender. I would estimate it probably came to about $ 500 – 550 overall which isn’t too bad considering how many were in our party. Service and food were definitely worth the 20 minute drive from Mechanicsburg. Will return if ever around again.

My b/f and I visit the Progress Grill on a Saturday night a few weeks ago and it was excellent! I’d really like to give it 4.5 stars. I’ll start with why it wasn’t a complete 5: The entrance was confusing… We made a reservation a week in advance. We parked in the lot at what seemed to be the front of the restaurant off of Walnut Street and entered there. We were surprised that there was no one to greet us at the door. We then noticed over near the bar that some folks had been congregating there and walked through some diners to stand on what seemed like a line. The people ahead of us were ushered to their table and we stood their waiting. We had to call out to the host to let him know we had a reservation and then he took us to our table. O0 Everything else was great! The service throughout dinner, the food(fillet mignon and stuffed flounder with crab) the ambiance I completely enjoyed(plus I was in good company ;)). It was very romantic and definitely gave you a classical dining feel. The restaurant definitely attracts a more mature crowd but we loved it. Folks near by were celebrating various events and were dressed semi formal: men — dress shirt and slacks, women — nice toop/sweater and slacks/skirt. I wore a nice dress with some stockings and high-heel booties and felt super comfortable(not over or under dressed). The price was reasonable. We were stuffed before we left and had to carry-out the rest. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a birthday or anniversary or if you just want to do something nice for a loved one or get dressed up and get out of the house. :)

We went to the Progress Grill for the first time in many years to celebrate our anniversary. As others have written, the décor is very nice, clean and drab. My parents would have considered it the height of style when I was a kid and I’m now in my 60’s. My wife had the seafood chemise. Sides were baked potato and broccoli. and I ordered the prime rib with a salad and baked potato. Thanks to Marisol B’s 12÷11÷13 review warning of no complimentary beverage refills/no warning we stuck to water. Our entrees were excellent. The seafood chemise was filled with seafood, mainly shrimp, in a light cream sauce. My prime rib was perfectly roasted; a large slab served on the bone. Service was very professional; something you rarely experience these days. Unfortunately, a Central Pennsylvania restaurant with Big City prices($ 22-$ 50 for entrees) should not scrimp by serving cold frozen broccoli, supermarket iceberg bag salad(albeit with an excellent Greek dressing, 2 Greek olives and a tomato wedge), foil-wrapped potatoes and nondescript dinner rolls. If it weren’t for the restaurant’s 1950’s dark décor and roadside diner quality sides, I would have gone 5 stars.

No culinary innovation or trendiness here. Progress Grill is a consistent old-school restaurant offering relaxed, dimly-lit, dining ambiance. Noteworthy is their fantastic Prime-rib, and their crab cakes(expensive). Broiled fresh fish entrees are good. Solid dinner rolls. Service is friendly. Non-alcoholic drink prices should include refills!

We took my mom for her birthday dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff very friendly. The food? Wow! Mom’s t-bone was huge and perfectly prepared. I had the seafood a la Chesapeake which was incredible… my husband enjoyed the Seafood Chemise. We all stuck our forks in his entrée and were amazed. That is what I will order the next time. Entrees range in the $ 15 – 40 range, so budget accordingly. It’s so worth it! What’s really nice? They just brought Mom a surprise birthday cake.

I don’t want to rehash everything that’s already been stated by other lower star reviews. It’s all true and notable. Top of the list being HUGELYOVERPRICED. My husband and I got two sodas each before they told us they were not free refills. $ 7. Really? Why can my local diner afford free refills but this place can’t!!! Why did I pay what I pay for FOURTEEN liters of soda at the store!!! They just LOVE their light and delicate sauces. But the reason they love them is because they use WATER to thin them out instead of using more alcohol which would be more worth your money and would reduce the sauce to something decadent instead if WATERY. One person in our group ordered the rack of lamb. He must have gotten the rack from the anorexic/bulimic lamb because it was MISSING the entire meaty back part which is the reason to eat such a dish. He ended up looking like he was sucking on boney drumsticks instead. Someone got the crème brûlée for dessert and I was commenting to my husband that they couldn’t be real crème brûlée. They are in GLASS dishes! You have to make the custard in a hot water bath and if you did that in glass it would be all stained from the water marks as the water evaporates. Also, the shape was a flattened kind which would not bake the custard evenly; it would be too cooked on the edged or undercooked in the center. Just as I was commenting to him, she says the top is REALLY hard. I look at back at my husband, knowing look on my face. The custard base is supposed to be eggs, milk and sugar. They probably used something out of a box, no doubt with corn sugar, which gets too hard when they torch it! If it were real crème brûlée that you happened to torch too long, you’d burn the top but it would always be the same crispness, not hard. I gave them an extra star because of cleanliness. This is the only area where the place excels. Save your money and pick another place that’s working harder for your money. There’s nothing special here.

Authentic greek restaurant. Terrific steak and seafood. Ownership ensures every customer leaves stuffed and satisfied. Generous portions and fresh ingredients. It doesn’t get much better than this. This place won’t disappoint!

Visited for the first time after living in Harrisburg for 2 years. This restaurant was a nice surprise. Not only is it a local place but the food and service was excellent. The prices are a little high but there portion sizes more than make up for it. They have not only a large menu of choices but also an extensive wine list. I was surprised to see how busy they were on a Sat night but now I know why. Although some patrons were dressed casually there were also many that were dressed up and there for a special occasion. I liked the ambience of the entire place and the crowd was a little older which to me just tells ya the food is good. I would return again and recommend to all my friends.

Writing for the Progress Grill is easy tonights dinners were A Tuna Steak, Boston Scrod & Crab Cakes. Everybody in our Party enjoyed their meals. The service was excellent as usual. No sense getting complicated it’s a 5 Star Restaurant!
