We randomly picked this restaurant based on the mac and cheese picture and it was just as delicious as it looks! We sat upstairs, it was so cute and cozy! We shared a Caesar salad to start, I had the salmon(which was to die for) and my boyfriend had to amazing Mac and cheese!

This is definitely one of my favorite places on second street. The foods they coalesce are superb. I personally highly recommend the duck with potatoes. It’s absolutely amazing. They had live music when we were there and I’m not sure if that’s a typical occurrence but it highlighted the atmosphere very well. I highly suggest stopping in. If you don’t know what you want this won’t disappoint!

Visited for the first time last night, Sun, with family, as its one of the few restaurants open Sun in Central PA. Walked in at 7p to literally a completely empty restaurant. Totally weird. Waiter was a schmuck, seemed like a uncomfortable newbie. We ordered a bottle of wine, he opens it, and just sets it on the table and walks away. Pour yourself. I got the Fish and Chips and it was positively disgusting. Several pieces of fish fried in oil that wasn’t hot enough would be my guess. They served me a disgusting soggy mess of fish literally dripping saturated with oil. Not crispy the slightest, but actually soggy and wet. Even the little round potatoes(the chips) weren’t cooked right… still hard and uncooked in the middle. How could they possibly serve this to me? Kitchen and management should be ashamed. I sent it back as I couldn’t eat this slop. They offered me something else. But by that time I was so turned off, I couldn’t eat anymore food from this place. They didn’t charge me for it. Not sure how this place stays open.

What can I say. I never come downtown, but if any better reason to come back here, there’s no better. Hats off to Joseph in the kitchen, the roast duck and Osso Bucco was phenomenal. I wish I had room for dessert. Service was amazing, the food was amazing.

Truly had a great time. The new atmosphere is great, along with the new menu. I had the lamb chops with a mai tai. Which had luxardo cherry syrup in it. Service was awesome as well as very attentive.

I really enjoy Stocks. The atmosphere has a rustic feel with and open kitchen. Their mixed drinks(particularly whiskey sours) are absolutely fantastic, which I highly recommend getting here instead of beer or wine. As for the food, I’ve only had a salad for lunch, but it was good. I’ve also had bone marrow during happy hour, which was a neat treat. My only withdrawal is that it can get pricy with multiple drinks and food-but it really is worth it. As for the service, the bartenders are highly competent to make mixed drinks(and pour beer).

The cheese and charcuterie plate was good. Unfortunately they were out of the duck prosciutto and boar. Our food was good although maybe not as hot as we would have liked. We may go back and give it another shot.

Very happy with the premium whiskey tasting flight. It was a splurge but so good! Happy hour drink specials are solid and the cocktails are tasty. We had pretzels(dry and light, more like bread), brisket with polenta(not very smokey but yum!), and dessert. The food was all very rich, which may not be everyone’s style. But the bourbon berry shortcake was so fresh with real whipped cream and fluffy angel food cake. It was a highlight.

We went here on a Sunday night and the experience was subpar. There were two waitresses and the manager working as wait staff, hostess and bar tender so service was VERY slow, even though the restaurant was maybe only 25% full. The manager was nice and gave us an extra order of jerky after we didn’t care for the duck prosciutto for our appetizer platter. The grilled radicchio salad was good, as was the Cesar. We didn’t order any bid plates so I can’t comment on the food, although I will say as a southern girl I take offense to a dish advertised as grits and then the description below states it is in fact creamy polenta. As we are tourists passing through, we will doubtful return, but perhaps the locals have better experience with a more complete staff.

Went on a Friday night around 6, not too packed. Very small plates(even for a small plate venue). Had the wild boar fries for appetizer, not enough for two people. However, the orange duck was FABULOUS. I will go back just for the duck! Great place for an intimate dinner, really cool interior open to the interior balcony that goes around the inside.

The service here is wonderful! The men who served us were so polite and welcoming. The scenery is also very relaxed. On the weekends they have live music, which is always a pleasant bonus. Food here is alright. Definitely will be returning.

This was the first time we were at stocks since their renovation and change of menu. I sort miss the casual chic of before. Now the décor is rustic, eh? Not so much but okay. I ordered the wild boar cassoulet. Very, very salty and mostly inexpensive chickpeas. I order some salad and for 6.95 it was a total rip. I’m so tired of all these places to eat screaming out that they are farm to table. How about just a little blurb WESOURCELOCALLY and leave it at that. Back to salad… A handful of radicchio with a couple of other things. Disappointing. Two of my friends order the crab cake that was mostly filler. My husband orders the brisket and loved it. Score on that one. Basically Stocks has turned itself into a pub food eatery. The menu is so-so if you’re going there to eat. Now if one is going there to have a brew and lots of small plates… Well I guess that it would be fine. Won’t go back… sorry

Loved every starter in the menu. The soup was just amazing, ribs … Get at least four :) … Calamari is great, bone marrow to die for …

We’ve only been at the bar but the service here is exceptional… Owen is hands down the best bartender in Harrisburg. Our food is always awesome and happy hour(5−7pm) is the best in town not to mention live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The food is fresh and fulfilling… and the drinks are drinks not sugar or watered down drinks like you would get at other establishments. We would recommend this place to anyone.

This place continues to deliver excellent food. I’ve eaten here many times and although they change their menu every so often, everything I’ve tried has tasted great. The presentation of the food and the service are consistently good. On my most recent visit I had their house burger. It comes on a brioche bun with caramelized onions and lettuce and tomato. I got it with their house fries. The burger came out perfectly cooked med rare and the fries had just the right amount of sea salt. Both were delicious. I will continue to visit this place which has outside seating and try some of the other menu items. Nice downtown location to people watch.

Drinks were amazing. Dessert was very good. Had apple crumble ala mode. It was good but would have been better if the apples were peeled and it had more crumble. Also enjoyed the whiskey brownie. It was amazing but could have use a big scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of the glass of milk. This place is an amazing place downtown for happy hour.

Great place for happy hour! Love the appetizers and the drink selection is wonderful. Definitely try the homemade beef jerky and the wings! Both amazing! We also hired Stock’s for a bbq that we had at our home in late April. The food was wonderful and the bartender was great. We will definitely use them again for our next party Wonderful people to work with.

With a variety of places to go in downtown Harrisburg, this is one of the better places. Our party of 6 was seated quickly with no reservations on a Friday night. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was well presented. I had the thick cut brisket, which was awesome. Price was very reasonable.

UPDATE: I returned to Stocks, after being contacted by the owner, and convinced to try it again. On my return trip, I had a very plesant time — None of the issues from the prior trip — so I’m going to write that off as an anomoly. Our server was outstanding, the cheese plate we got had a heap of excellent prosciutto, and my rare steak was rare(perhaps on the edge of medium rare, but I was still happy). Plating was leaps better. I’m going to leave the original review below, but again — am thinking that was just some sort of really off night. — Far too many unforgivable errors on my last trip — all from the Kitchen. I had the cedar-plank trout with brussel sprouts in brown butter; I was told when I got my plate that they were out of cedar planks(too late to change my choice) and the brussel sprouts were cold and virtually uncooked. Even the replacement sprouts I got were undercooked, and absolutely not in brown butter. The person I was with ordered a rare steak, and got one entirely brown /well done. The got sent back, and the next one out was medium, but by then we’d been there so long we just finished and paid our way-too-high bill. Even though we both had serious errors, we were offered no discount or compensation.

This was our 2nd time to Stocks. After our last visit we were contacted by the manger to apologize for this mishap… see my previous review. This visit was completely different from the last visit. The service was great. Out server had good recommendations and knew the menu very well. He was friendly and pleasant to be around. We started off with the soup of the day, chicken with rice. It was your standard chicken with rice soup. It was good but the temperature was on the warm side. I was still able to enjoy it though. I got the burger that is on the menu. It was done well and very juicy. The caramelized onions that came on top of the burger were great. I also got cheese on it… but to be honest you really don’t need the cheese. The chips that came with it were light and flavorful. My girlfriend got one of the specials… Wild Boar Burger. This was awesome. It came with baby arugula and a fig jam. The combination of all three were great. I wish I ordered this. Hopefully Stocks will add this to the regular menu. We finished with the apple crum desert. We both enjoyed this and thought the honey cinnamon ice cream was great. Like I said before, this was a completely different experience from our last visit. We will come back.
