Burger Boss is a great addition to State House Square in Hartford. I have paid several visits to this establishment and each has been very satisfying. The staff are friendly, accommodating and efficient. The food bar(where condiments are stored and served) appears fresh and clean. The food portions are VERY generous and each meal I’ve ordered has been given to me hot and fresh. I personally have had the grilled cheese, philly cheese steak(AMAZING — enough for two people!), chicken tenders(way more meat than fried coating!) and a milkshake. If you haven’t tried Burger Boss yet you should — they even have a loyalty program where you can receive a free meal. Job well done everyone at BB in SHS!

We really enjoyed the hot dogs over there(especially the ones with cheese). In addition I loved the fruit drinks they offer. Pineapple was delicious as well as the papaya drink. Definitely someone should put it on the«to do» list for hot dog in CT.

Decided to finally try this place and I ended up getting a turkey burger with fries. Everything tasted ok. The burger was a bit dry. It didn’t taste like it was fresh off the grill more like it sat in a warmer for a while as some of the greese was congealed on the surface. The fries were hot but they didn’t taste fresh cut. Definitely the previously frozen variety which for fast food is what you would expect. Overall everything was fine but for $ 12 I can get a better Burger and fries at one of the many sit down places in Hartford. It’s fast food quality for sit down prices. Burger king value meal is like what $ 6 and the fries are better. One thing I found a bit weird was that they ask for tips. They have iPad for cashing out and when she flipped it around for me to sign it prompts you to choose a tip amount ranging from 15% and up. I don’t believe it’s fair to put people on the spot for tipping. Its fast food, they’re not bringing the food to your table. There is not wait staff whose pay rely on tips.

Paid a visit to Burger Boss today and it left a lot to be desired unfortunately. Since I work in the building, I spent a long while wishing for something great to open. The menu states that all burgers are cooked medium well. My burger was VERY well done and bland. The side of onion rings were fine. I want to like this place, so I’ll give it three stars. Next time perhaps I’ll try another item like a steak and cheese. The place is also pretty pricey not to be GREAT. Hopefully over time they’ll continue to make improvements.

I went for the first time today and got a philly cheese steak. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I got it with grilled onions and cheddar. The bun would’ve been better a little toasted, and the sandwich could have used a little more cheese. But other than that the onions were full of flavor and it was delicious. The onion rings looked great beer battered and crispy, but I held off ordering them this time. I definitely will come back and try a hamburger with rings.

My first experience at Burger Boss was hopefully not indicative of future visits… I usually hold off on visiting a restaurant until its been open for at least a week, so they can iron out any issues and get into the swing of a fast-paced environment. However, I was jonesing for a burger and got in line for Burger Boss on Day Two. From getting into line until receiving my food, I waited a little over 10 minutes. This is a LONG time to wait when there are a half-dozen other food options within the same food court. I’m hoping this wait gets shorter as service becomes more routine. Once you finally get up to the counter, you order your meal. At lunch time, Burger Boss offers fresh burgers(all cooked medium-well), cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, or veggie burgers. You can get them in a bun or wrapped in lettuce. For non-burger eaters, they have Philly cheesesteaks, a tortilla with hot dogs, bacon, chili, etc., grilled cheese, or BLTs. You can also order a side of fries, onion rings, cheese fries, or baked beans. Entrees range from $ 3.95 to $ 7.95 and sides range from $ 2.95 to $ 4.95. After waiting a few minutes for your burger, you can then choose toppings. Free toppings include their special«boss sauce», ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mushrooms, etc. Every burger is unique. Here is where Burger Boss can streamline the process — if they had a system more like Moe’s or Ajamo, with more workers per station, it would go much faster. My burger was juicy and satisfying, although I went skimpy on the toppings in order to focus on the burger quality for the first taste. The fries were good, cooked but not overly crispy. Really just how I like them. Next time, I’m going to try one of their ice cream milk shakes. I am so excited that a place in SHS finally offers dessert! Burger Boss is also open for breakfast from 7:30am-10:30am, with eggs, homefries, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast burritos on the menu. I plan on updating my review once things have calmed down a bit — hopefully we can add some stars!
